2004 Progress # 7
6/23/04 - 7/8/04 Sealant Primer Applied & Humidity Rises The weather in Jasper has been humid and rainy on a daily basis these last few weeks. All paint experts will agree that trying to paint a car in very humid conditions is not recommended. Therefore the decision was made to not paint our Coronet until the weather cooperates a little more than it has. Master restorian, Dennis Szabo continues to toil on the body and make it as flawless as possible. Click Image for more Details.
6/19/04 - Dodge Gear for Father's Day!! RHMJR is seen here sporting his new Dodge Coronet R/T jacket. RHM III sent it to him for Fathers day. It was purchased in April at the MOPAR Spring Round-up. It is a very slick looking jacket that will be good to wear when showing the car at various meets. This particular color was chosen to compliment the actual car which will be red with black stripes and have a black interior.
6/20//04 - Car Back in Solid Primer & Test Fitting a Magnum 500 We decided to bring down one of our new rear Magnum 500 wheels and to see how it looked on the car. We also wanted to check the spacing in the wheel well. The 5 inches back spacing looks to be the right choice and everything fits perfectly.
8/4/04 - Reproduction Parts from Dodge & A Horsepower Estimate is Made: Project Notes: Chrysler is reproducting some original parts again! Feel free to walk down to your local MOPAR dealership and order the following parts: 68 Coronet R/T Front Grill Emblems Part # 2786711, 68 R/T Front Fender Emblems Part # 2785579 and 1969 Grill Emblems Part # 2898886 There was a dent in the trunk lid that was repaired and there were also some minor repairs made to both rocker panels. Taking a step away from the body, we decided to focus on the engine. We really haven't inspected it since its removal from the car. After taking a close look we discovered that Kelvin Severin installed an Edelbrock CH4B intake manifold. Through investigations we learned that this manifold will increase the horsepower by as much as 30. Additionally you might remember that the engine is bored out .060 which also adds tremendously to the HP tally. In combination with the V-Force Exhaust yet to be installed, the high performance cam and crank, the reworked transmission with new torque converter, it wouldn't surprise us if our 440 Magnum wouldn't put out between 430-490 HP on a dyno test.
6/8/04 - 6/15/04 - Work Continues to Shape the rear Quarter Panels Master Restorian Dennis Szabo continues to toil with the lines of our once smashed in rear. We are very impressed with his attention to detail and his willingness to take as long as is needed to do it right.
