2004 Progress # 6
6/1/04 -   Paint Color Revealed!

The paint has arrived for the car and we are proud to announce that the car will be Chryslers modern Inferno Red. This is a Dupont Chroma Base paint that will receive a Dupont Chroma Clear coat. The Dupont Base Coat contains a pearl additive producing an unrivaled luster and shine. Much thought has been put into this selection having looked at many paint samples from all eras and manufactures. We feel this is some of the best looking paint we have ever seen on an automobile and are looking forward to having it on our Coronet. The BumbleBee stripes around the tail will be a gloss black complimenting our black  interior and black vinyl roof. You can see this paint on the modern Chrysler Crossfire . The paint code is (PEL)

5/24/04  -  The Transmission is Back from Bigfoot Transmission.

There are 3 things to notice in this picture. 1) A 727 Torqueflight Transmission. 2) BIG JOHN - the owner of BIGFOOT Transmission. 3) One happy Bob Mitchell.

John has been working off and on to repair our tranny for the last month and a half. John performed a complete overhaul, replaced a few busted parts and has our system back in peak condition. Thanks John! We are looking forward to getting this baby back in the car.

5/26//04  - Car in Black Primer in the Paint Shop

A thin layer of Black primer has been applied. Shortly after, the sanding has begun. We are on the hunt to find the smallest of imperfections given the light we can  work with now that the car is inside. Once the last final imperfections have been found, a hand sanding with very finite paper will take place making the body feel as smooth as glass.

6/8/04  -  ABSOLUTELY DASHING!  The dash assembly is complete.

BELOW
TOP- The dash pieces have come together very well. Starting with the 150 MPH Speedometer we got from Boston to the great looking NOS clock that was bought from our buddy Lantz Newberry in Shelton WA. This dash is assembled from parts from all over the country. There is 3,500 miles of distance in just the instrument panel alone.  The AM radio purchased will be installed when the frame itself goes in the car, but all other parts are in peak working condition right down to the every last bulb.

BELOW  BOTTOM - This is one of the Pre-Purchase photos taken prior to even buying the Coronet from Kelvin Severin back in Febuary. It is exciting to see this progress and hopefully foreshadows the success of the entire project.
