| 2004 Progress # 4 |
| 4/29/04 - 150 MPH Speedo Found and Procured! We have been searching for a 150 MPH Speedo before this project began. This is by far the most rare of rare parts we have attempted buy to this date. RHMJR successfully bid and won this excellent looking cluster on E-Bay.. The NOS clock purchased from Lantz Newberry will be installed on the far right of the cluster. RHMJr once said "One of the most special things to me about my old R/T was the 150 speedometer. In my new car, I would like to have that again. It was just too cool." Congrats Bob..you did it, you got it! You deserve this...and it is still too cool |

Dennis Szabo has been hard at work cutting out rust spots, welding new metal in replacement and bringing the body to a smooth finish. |

Project Notes:
BIG NEWS! The exterior color of the car has been chosen. The paint has been ordered. The decision to go with a 'MODERN" paint has been made as we feel the original 1968 paint composition and luster would lack when judged by the sophisticated eye of the 2000's. We are going to stay with an original "Color" offered in 1968, but it will be a modern version. This decision will bringing to bear advances in paint technology that allow for greater luster (metal flakes/metallic look),paint longevity (clear coating) and rust protection. The chosen color will be revealed in the near future when the paint goes on the car! Stay tuned! Other excellent news worthy of broadcast is that Mike at Auto Medic Supply just outside of L.A. has located two bumpers for our car. Mike attended one of the largest auto shows and swap meets in southern California. While there, he was able to score a good looking pair of bumpers for us. Mike quickly went to work and has restored the cores. He gettiing them rechromed presently. They should both ship to TX in another week or so. Way to go Mike! He is our newly annointed "MVP" for April! PARTS WANTED! We are looking for a 1968-69 Non-Ralleye Speedometer Lens. This Speedometer Lens has the numbers 10-150 in increments of 10 running left to right. The correct part number is 2857721. We are also looking for a pair of WORKING 1968 Coronet R/T fender mounted turn signal indicators. If you know where these parts are, please send an e-mail to: [email protected] and we will probably buy them from you! UPDATE - PART FOUND |
