The happiness of a man in this life does not consist in the absence but in the mastery of his passions. - Alfred Lord Tennyson
Hi! I'm Robert Bourque. I live in Central Mass in a small town. I have been living here for 40 plus years. My wife Kathleen and our five children live in a house that we bought in 1995. The house we bought had been abandoned for a few years and was in need of some major renevations, however Kathy and I fell in love with it the minute we walked into it. It was the house of our dreams...

For years I was searching for my passion, I found a lot of things to do that were exciting and interesting and enjoyed doing them but they didn't stick. Little did I know that my passion was right in front of me. I have been working on our house for the last 10 years, still there is plenty to do. My wife and I have done most of the work ourselves.

Our House:
Our house was built in 1900. It's design is a considered to be Colonial built in the Victorian years. One of the nice things about our house is that only two family's owned and lived in it before - we found alot of neat old momentos of thier lives in our house. The house did't really feel like "ours" until living there for about 3 years. It has been my goal to keep it original as possible - when I tore down the old porch, I could of gone to Home Depot and bought the pressure treated lattice sheets, instead I bought several 2x8's and ripped those into thin boards and nailed them to the porch frame in a horizontal - vertical pattern - just like the original. When it came time to add the shutters on the house, I repaired, sanded and painted the original shutters and put those up. I could of bought plastic... It has been a labor of love and I think back at all the work and money put into our house and it has been well worth it.
