Eclectic Soul
News
July 20/02: The band of Eclectic Soul is going strong at their Wednesday night house gig at "Revival" (College and Shaw, Toronto).    The band just finished an interview with CityTv for a potential show on the music industry in Canada.

The house gig has been extended to the end of August, so there's lots of time to get out and check it out, but don't think of it like that: just think of it as more opportunities for a great time.
Sept. 5/02: Revival house gig is going until at least the end of September now.   I can get many on a guestlist for these shows: contact me for more details (See CONTACT page).   The gig is still every Wednesday night starting at about 11pm.
In other news, Eclectic Soul has a few other gigs.   The big news being the Gala Event (for the Toronto Film Festival) held tonight (Sept. 5) at the Liberty Grand (CNE grounds).   There's 1500 expected to be there as well as many media stars out to have a good time.   We have a few benefits coming up (including the Hope Ball on Sept. 28th).
Back early in September we had a special guest in the audience: Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones.   A great guy and a gracious man, he was seen dancing to our music.   You can't believe the thrill I had playing for one of Rock's (and music's) royalty and perhaps one of the most influential musician's of our time.
Other than that, that's about it.    Stay posted for more info.
Sept. 29/02: New member of the band...  E-Soul has welcomed singer Wayne Tennant in to be a permanent fixture .   He has a unique blend of the modern R&B sounds of Maxwell mixed with an old-school charm of Michale Jackson (before he was a freak) and Marvin Gaye.   Just one more reason to check us out.
    We played at
Sassafras (Yorkville) on Sept. 26th.   It was INCREDIBLE!!!  The people were great, and the staff was excellent.    Celebs abound (I won't mention who out of respect for their privacy).   Special guests in the band included rappers "Phatt Al" and "Mann-E-Face"...  and holding it down on drums, filling in for Deryck was Saykou (who you can catch with "Edwin and the Pressure".)
Sept. 28th we had the honour of playing for the "
Hope Ball" down at the Royal York Hotel.   Again, the staff and the guests were incredible, and they made it memorable night for us.   Special guest speakers were the "Man in Motion" Rick Hansen and Global TV's Anwar Knight.    In the band, Phatt Al once again sat in (damn, that guy is like steroids to an athlete, he helps us kick ass).   But also we had two other guests for the night: Andrew (who has a House Gig at Alto Basso on Thursday nights, and drummer Paul Antonio.    These guys were great players (let alone the fact that they were last minute fill-ins).   They were impressive and I look forward to playing with them again soon.
Other than that, check out the House Gig of ours at
Revival every Wed. The club is committed to another month with us, but we want it to go on longer.   To make it last longer, we need more people, so if you want to come out and check it out, contact me, and I'll throw you plus 3-4 others on a guestlist for the night.   The September 25th gig at Revival was insane!!!  Packed!!!   If it stays like that, then the show could end up like it did back in the day, when there was line-up out the door to the next block.    Its a party at Revival every Wednesday, so come check it out!!!!!!!
Jan 2/03: Eclectic Soul actually did a gig on New Years at Sassafrass with a friend of mine Calvin Beale filling in on the bass for me.   He's an excellent bassist and you can catch him at Lava (College west of Bathurst) every Tuesday or with the monsters of rock "Purpeloid" whenever they're in town.   Besides Calvin, Mike Shand also came in to fill in for Greg Thomas on keys (he had a gig in Grand Caymen that jerk), and again, top notch player.    I haven't heard any feedback about how it went, but 'm sure with that line-up it must've been great.
Other than that, E-Soul is going to concentrate more on corporate gigs and some songwriting. But we will still do some club gigs, so when they happen, go check them out!!!   See the
Schedule page for when and where.
