Episode 7

So Dan finally had to go. He already got eliminated in the extra execution in episode 3. He voted for Doortje in episode 3. Now he voted for Doortje again! So he had to go again.

Day 13
Kenmore
Doortje, Sigrid, Yvonne and Nico are on their way too the next challenge. Meanwhile they are discussing the eliminated people.
Yvonne:"I found it a pity when Gerda got eliminated. I always found that a pity for the group. She was very enjoyable."
flashback episode 1 Gerda is dragged up the mountain and is very happy she reached the top with the support of the group
Doortje:"But I think that if she had stayed, it would have been very difficult for the group."
Sigrid:"Yeah I found it a pity too. She was very sociable."
flashback episode 2 Ward:"I already thought that sleeping looking would be too good to be true!"
Sigrid:"I also found it very bad when Ward left, because we had a lot of fun with him. It was someone..."
Doortje:"You could laugh with him, but you could also have a serious talk."
flashback episode 1 Ward:"This is our food... I think the elimination race will be on the vitamins in this food!"
Sigrid:"I also found it really bad when Nazife had to go."
Doortje:"Nazife was kind of a stabality factor in the group."
flashback episode 3 Nazife:"If angela gives us a new challenge, we don't have to start yelling 'Me! Me!' but we have to look at each other first and then decide."
Yvonne:"But she was really suspicious too in the beginning! On that mountain... 'Oh, my heart...' "
Doortje:"Yeah, and we went like 'Yeah right!' " Yvonne:" 'Keep on walking Nazife!' No one believed her."
flashback episode 1 Nazife took something out of her bag, because of her heart. Dan:"Just give me the bag! Get your coat! Come on, you're hardly even sweating!"
Doortje:"If you think about it afterwards, you think 'Oh God, we really were terrible on that mountain to her!' "
Nico:"Yeah.."
Sigrid:"I really found it bad for Björn too, because the last few days, he..."
Doortje:"I didn't expect Björn at all. And, yeah, the last few days expressed himself more."
Yvonne:"Yeah, he did change. In the beginning he was very hyperactive in the van... God!"
Doortje:"He constantly asked 'Are you the Mole? Are you the Mole?' "
Nico:"And he wrote everything down that could be suspicious and he thought everything was suspicious."
Yvonne:"He changed in Steward Castle."
Sigrid:"He really looked great in that suit!"
Yvonne:"I think, with Dan gone, we miss a lot of quality."
Doortje:"He was a handyman."
flashback episode 3 Dan cleans the hotel room with a vacuum cleaner. episode 6 Dan is making Haggis with Doortje
Doortje:"I really found it a pity he had to go, because I had just spent the entire afternoon with him and it was very nice."
Nico:"You mean with the Haggis?"
Doortje:"Guys, aren't we forgetting someone? Cor!"
flashback episode 2 Cor has played Father Jakob on the bagpipes and the group guessed it correctly. They all cheer and hug Cor
Doortje:"I think there's a lot of life in this group now."
Yvonne:"Although sometimes I think we might be a little bit too wild and..."
Doortje:"Nico is quiet!"   Nico laughs.

They arrive at the place for their next challenge. First they have to divide into 2 groups. Sigrid chooses to go with Yvonne, so the other group is Nico and Doortje. Each group has to choose a rope. Nico and Doortje have a 5 metre rope, Sigrid and Yvonne a 3 metre rope. They have to go canyoning. This means that they have to measure up a wild river with the rope. Each team gets an instructor. Doortje and Nico have to go first and 15 minutes later, Sigrid and Yvonne will start. The river is 332 metres long and the lenght the contestants measured can differ 15 metres. The river is smaal and wild, full of rocks.
Sigrid:"Wat a stupid sport! Who likes this?"

<Confession: Sigrid:"I thought it was really funny. And I dared to jump in the water and stuff. I really surpassed myself, I think. I enjoyed doing it with Yvonne. I had deliberately chosen for her, because I'm the least self-confident and Yvonne can do everything." End of confession>

In the water Sigrid jokingly asks Yvonne whether she's wearing waterproof mascara. "The things you need to think about in such a sport!"
They glide from waterfalls and swim around in the water.

<Confession: Yvonne:"Sigrid was more focused than me. I only had fun. I had a great laugh with Sigrid. But you do have to stay concentrated, 'cause at a certain point we were discussing about the distance we had measured so far. We had 70 metres and that's impossible if you have a 3 metre rope. So we made 69 of it, but then you notice that your attention can't weaken." End of confession>

Doortje and Nico arrive at a very large waterfall. They have to rappel down. Doortje goes first. She goes down and then touches the ground again, but she's pushed flat on the ground because of the water falling on her.

<Confession: Doortje:"Suddenly I sat on the ground and I couldn't stand up, so I couldn't do anything else then just sitting there and letting the water bang on my head. I was pretty shook up. The water falls on your head with such great power. Your entire head gets drilled." End of confession>

Nico manages to get down too.
Yvonne and Sigrid learn how to avoid the rocks, by letting themselves fall flat in the water instead of jumping in it.

<Confession: Nico:"It was fun to do. Actually, it's nothing for me, but that's the great thing about this game, that you do things you normally wouldn't do." End of confession>

Because of all the waterfalls, the distance of each group might differ a lot.
Now Sigrid and Yvonne have arrived at the large waterfall. Sigrid has to go first.

<Confession: Sigrid:"When I put the first step, I wanted to go back. I looked down and thought 'Oh my God, I don't like this!' But then I decided to be strong and to go for it. Yvonne went down that waterfall very easily. She can do those things. I admire her a lot for that. But it doesn't make me feel I want to be able to do such things too."
Yvonne:"I had a lot of fun. It wasn't a difficult challenge, although I did think at a certain point 'Oh no, I hope we won't let go of that rope, so it will go all the way down with the water.' It was something I had never done before and it made me feel a child again. I really enjoyed it." End of confession>

Nico and Doortje arrive at the end. A bit later, the second duo arrives too. Sigrid and Yvonne make a guess about the last few metres. The first group had 325 and the second group 322. They decide to go for the average, which is 323. The river was 332, but since they could differ 15 metres, they win the challenge. There's a total of 52.500 gilders in the kitty.

On their way to the hotel, Nico is driving the car. Sigrid sits next to him and she's playing with a ball. In the back Yvonne is reading something. We can't see what Doortje is doing, but it's very quiet in the car. No one is talking. We hear their confessions:
Nico:"I always have to get used to it, especially in such a big group, that's always a little bit harder. And now I know everyone better. Especially the group that's left now, I have a lot of contact with them. It feels good, I can be myself."
Sigrid:"We're definetely not a role model of harmony. We differ a lot. Things you can't stand because you're tired, like some conversations you don't want to have, discussions, people who are starting to get on your nerves.... It's not that there are any people in the group are against each other. I don't think so, no."
Nico:"At this point I notice that we don't give each other much information. There's a lot of openness in the group, but that openness is not about the Mole."
Doortje:"I'm really going for it. I'm goinf for the money and I have to do that alone. I have to take care that there will be money in the kitty and there will only be money because of the challenges, so I help the group with that."
Sigrid:"I don't know who people are suspecting."
Yvonne:"In certain challenges I really felt bad about myself that they failed. For example that I was doing so bad at the riddles in that garden. Although I can still cope with that, because I know I'm not good at those things. But I really felt bad with the fortress challenge, because I got hit first and I thought everything was well-organized. And that challenge in jail... if you have to know Morse code...I really felt bad about it."

Day 14
The Lady Victoria Coalmine
Everyone has to write a name on a piece of paper. It has to be the name of the person they trust most. The votes are collected in an urn. Sigrid has most votes. This is a challenge for 5.000 gilders. Sigrid has to convince the other three in doing a rather unpleasant challenge. Two of them are fake, but one is real. But she can't tell that to the others.
If all three contestants do their challenge, they will win 5.000 gilders and Sigrid will have an exemption.
If 2 of them do it and of them doesn't, they win 5.000 gilders, but Sigrid won't have an exemption.
If 1 does it and the other 2 don't, there will be no money nor an exemption for Sigrid.
If no one does the challenge, Sigrid will win an exemption, but there will be no money.
For the first challenge, Sigrid choses Doortje. She has to convince her to walk over a strip of hot coals. Doortje doesn't know she doesn't really have to do this. There a two strips of coals. Only one of them are hot coals, to make Doortje believe it's real. But she actually has to walk over the normal coals. But Sigrid is not allowed to tell her that.
Sigrid:"You will have to run over hot coals with your bare feet. If you do it, we will have money in the kitty. I just did it myself and it's ok."
Doortje:"Well, firstly, I don't believe you did it..."
Sigrid:"OK that's up to you... I'll let you feel how warm it is."
Doortje squats and keeps her hand above the hot coals.
Sigrid:"If you're quick, you won't feel a thing." Doortje:"Yeah IF I'm quick!" Sigrid:"It's only a short walk."
Doortje:"I think I won't do it. It's really f*cking hot!" Sigrid:"But if your fast, then..." Doortje:"If I'm fast? I just touched the coals really fast and it's really hot." Sigrid:"OK..." short pause...
Sigrid:"I'll go with you."
Doortje lowers her hand and touches the hot coals. "Ouch! F*ck! No I won't do it!"
Sigrid:"Are you sure? Not even if I go with you?" Doortje:"No it hurts. I won't do it."
Sigrid:"No money in the kitty then." Doortje:"Yes, if one refuses to do the challenge, there'll still be money in the kitty." Sigrid:"Yeah, but then the others have to do their challenges too. Yvonne will probably do it, but you don't know with Nico. It's just a short walk. I'll go with you." Doortje:"I don't believe you did it too." Sigrid:"OK, then I'll just take of my shoes and you can feel my feet." Doortje:"OK, but what do I have to feel?" Sigrid:"That I'm also walking over it with my bare feet." Doortje:"But why did you do it then?" Sigrid:"To get money in the kitty. You only think about that exemption." Doortje:"No, I'm thinking about pain. I'm thinking it will hurt." Sigrid:"Yeah, ok... it will."
Doortje:"What are you gonna do now?" Sigrid:"I took of my shoes and now we can..." Doortje:"OK! You walk over it." Sigrid:"But you can't see it!" Doortje:"I can feel your feet afterwards." short pause....
Sigrid:"I'll only walk over it once. I'm not gonna go two times. We'll go together and I'll walk in front of you."
Doortje:"And I can hold you?" Sigrid:"OK!" again there's a pause....
Doortje:"How long is it?" Sigrid:"About three metres." Doortje:"I won't do it, I think. Can I feel it again?" Doortje touches the hot coals again and finally decides she won't so it. Sigrid takes of Doortje's blindfold and shows her the coals she was supposed to walk over. Angela:"Of course we wouldn't let you burn your feet!" Doortje:"Yeah, you never know, I mean, Emile Ratelband does it too." (Emile Ratelband is a Dutch man who really does walk over hot coals)

Nico is chosen for the second challenge. Sigrid says some things like "Nico, today is the day of bizarre challenges." and "Your fate is in my hands."
This challenge isn't real either, but again everything has been taken care of to make it seem real. Nico is blindfolded too. He has to stand against a wall and a man will throw three pickaxes at him. If Sigrid wants to go for the exemption, she has to convince the other two of not doing the challenge. Sigrid explains the challenge to Nico and he decides to go for it. He stands against the wall. A few metres away from him, a man is counting "1, 2, 3" and then he pretends to throw an axe. But right in front of Nico another man hacks the axe right next to his head. The three axes are 'thrown'. Nico's blindfold is taken off. Nico:"It actually was kinda cool." Sigrid:"But it wasn't for real. It was too dangerous if he would miss, because then we wouldn't have a Nico anymore." Angela:"We wouldn't want that." Sigrid:"I did find it very cool you trusted me like that."

Yvonne has t do the last challenge. That challenge is real. She has to walk over a ledge of a high wall, blindfolded. Sigrid has to guide her. The first step Yvonne has to do, immediately is a dangerous one, because she is taken up with a kind of lift, but then she has to stand on the wall. There is a gap between the lift and the wall. She manages to do it, though a little bit shakily. She takes small steps towards a small stairs she has to climb up. Then she has to turn and take another few small steps untill she reaches a corner. She has to turn again and slowly walk towards Sigrid. Yvonne makes it. She immediately takes of the blindfold and asks whether Sigrid has the exemption. Sigrid:"No I haven't" Yvonne:"YES!"
So the group wins 5.000 gilders and Sigrid has no exemption. Yvonne keeps the money now that Dan's gone. They have a total of 57.500 gilders in the kitty.

Suspicions
Yvonne:"There are arguments that acknowledge my choice. I won't tell it now, I'm gonna keep it to myself."
Nico:"Sigrid is the Mole. Yvonne suspects me, she told me so, so I guess Yvonne has to go if Doortje votes for Sigrid and I vote for Sigrid. You have no certainty in life especially not here, so you've got to set your hopes to something, right? I won't go home, I can feel it!"
Sigrid:"At this moment it doesn't matter to me if I'm gonna be the owner of the kitty. Because there's only 33 % that I will win it. The Mole is Nico. I'm absolutely certain of that now. I have no more doubts."
Doortje:"I still think it's Nico. He's the only one who acted a little bit suspicious and the others not."
Nico:"Participating in 'The Mole' is so intense. We have now put up with the fact that every two days, someone has to go home and... that's it."
Yvonne:"The bad thing is that when someone has left, you just carry on like that. You're just.... it's part of the game and you don't have a chance to stay unhappy and sad. You just keep going."
Doortje:"You get to know each other very fast in a short period and I can imagine that people find it a shock if they are sent home. This doesn't mean I won't be shocked when I have to go, but I won't start crying or anything. I would find it a pity."
Sigrid:"I would find it very bad if I have to leave tonight. I'm not counting on it. I have built up a sort of self confidence, but I can be very wrong. I wouldn't mind that hard maybe, because I have done a lot of things here and I got very far, so I would be fed up with it, but......."

Suspicious
At a certain point, Sigrid and Yvonne had 70 metres, which is impossible with a 3 metre rope.
Doortje didn't do her challenge.
Sigrid wasn't very convincing. Maybe she wanted to go for the exemption, or maybe she want to let the challenge fail.
