Bali
Host:"And then five were left! And four moles. At least
that's the way it seemed... But it got tough. And some were almost
exhausted."
Day 10 - Kuta - Bali
They traveled from Darwin, Australia to the island of Bali. It's
evening and the contestants are at a restaurant. A waiter arrives with a phone
call for them. Marc-Marie takes the phone. It's the host, telling them to
divide into groups. Two people who can communicate without words, one with a
loud voice, one who can talk well and one who's good at keeping his mouth shut.
Lottie suggests Marc-Marie should be the one who can talk well.
She and Yvon will communicate without words. Isabelle goes for the
loud voice and Sander is the on who can keep his mouth shut. They've
decided already! While all other times it took them ages to decide who should do
what, they've already decided it now within seconds. Yvon:"The
smaller the group gets, the easier it becomes!"
Day 10 - Kuta

Yvon and Lottie can communicate without using words. They are
taught how to dive, while the others are sleeping in.
CC
Lottie:"We got a diving course, which is fun, but I already got
my certificate. That was several years ago though, so it was good to freshen it
up. But Yvon didn't have a certificate."
Semawang Beach Sanur
Later that day, they go to the beach. The host explains them they will
be launched into the water. At the bottom of the sea, they will find 5 pictures
(one of every contestant that's still in the game). Along with those pictures
are 5 characteristics. The divers have to decide which characteristic fits to
which person. Then they have to draw it on a small board, but they are not
allowed to write or draw faces. They have to use symbols to describe the person.
The characteristic is attached to the board and let up with a balloon. Isabelle
will be in a boat and has to find out which person the divers have described
with the drawings. She then has to row closer to shore and has to use a
megaphone to scream to Marc-Marie which characteristic suits which
person. The better they do it, the more money they can win. If it goes wrong, it
might cost them money.
The girls get in the boats and the host now goes to Marc-Marie to explain
that Isabelle will be yelling a name and characteristic to him. He has to
remember it. He gets 5 cards with the characteristic written on it: critical,
bold, self-opinionated, impatient and positive.
So Marc-Marie has to remember which characteristics Lottie and Yvon
gave to which contestant, which will make it easier for Sander, who can
either let this challenge succeed or fail.
CC
Sander:"My role was to keep my mouth shut. That turned out to be
quite fun, because I had to spend my time at the pool with a cocktail in one
hand and a book in the other, swimming in a luxurious resort. It was very
tough!"
The divers are prepared to go in the water. Lottie is
down and looks aroud already, but she's alone.
CC
Lottie:"Yvon wasn't coming down at first, so I was waiting at
the bottom of the ocean. I saw Yvon was gesturing to me to get started, I
thought 'Sjeesh, now I have to decide everything on my own.' "
Yvon:"The guy told me that if I got sick, I had to puke in
the mouth piece! That's a nightmare! I didn't want that and ugh that salt water
in my mouth!"
Yvon tells the man of the boat she doesn't want to do it.
So Lottie is on her own...
CC
Lottie:"I started with my own characteristic: positive. It's
funny because I couldn't come up with a symbol for myself. I ended up drawing an
eye and a microphone with musical notes. So I thought that would be for singing
and the eye... people tell me I've got beautiful eyes!"
Yvon:"So I did my best to try to interpret Lottie's
drawings."
Yvon isn't diving down, but she keeps swimming in the
sea, to help Isabelle to find out what Lottie drew and which
contestant it represents. Lottie's first drawing is floating up and Yvon
gets it and reads it to Isabelle;"Positive, music and an
eye!"
Isabelle is trying to interpret it.
CC
Lottie:"I heard that the firstone, my own characteristic, was
misunderstood immediately."
Isabelle is thinking too far:"Eye... 'I'...
Marc-Marie Huijbrechts... Sander De Heer... Lottie." Yvon:"I
think it's you!" Isabelle:"I think so too, because of my
big eyes! and music..."
She now rows closer to shore to scream to Marc-Marie what she found.
He has to remember it and get into town to find things to represent the
contestants. For example, he could get a white hat to represent himself, because
he's been wearing that all the time.
Isabelle arrives and takes the megaphone:"Marc-Marie? Wave to
me!"
CC
Isabelle:"I had no idea how loud that megaphone would be, so I
screamed very loud, because it's better to be too loud than too softly."
She screams:"Isabelle - positive!" Marc-Marie
turns around and writes it down, but frowns to the camera:"Isabelle,
positive???"
CC
Isabelle:"But since Marc-Marie didn't react, I thought ok I'll
have to scream louder..."
She screams again:"Isabelle - positive!!"
Marc-Marie:"Ye-hes!!!"
CC
Marc-Marie:"She drove me crazy!"
Isabelle:" 'Wave if you hear me! Wave! Wave!!' "
Marc-Marie:"I think she got a sunstroke and turned crazy or
something!"
Isabelle scream:"Can I go back?!!"
Marc-Marie:"Now she asks me if she can go back... what do I
have to do to make it clear?" He waves again. Isabelle sees it
and goes back.
Marc-Marie wants to find a stub of a cigarette, because Isabelle
is the only one who smokes.
CC
Lottie:"Then the second one. I drew braids and a radio..."
She let's it go up. Yvon takes it and tells Isabelle
the previous one must have been wrong, because the braids and radio is for Isabelle
(who put braids in her hair since being in Bali). She rows towards Marc-Marie
and screams:"The previous one was wrong! Isabelle is bold!"
CC
Marc-Marie:"I had to put that with the characteristics. So when
Isabelle was shouting to me, I though, I already know which characteristic goes
with which contestant..."
Isabelle:"Marc-Marie, wave when you've heard
me!"
He is waving and getting irritated:"She tells me to wave when I've
heard. I did hear it and I am waving, but she..." (interrupted by Isabelle,
screaming:"Bold - Isabelle!!") Marc-Marie waves like
crazy:"Yes, bold - Isabelle! And deaf too!!!"
Isabelle finally sees it and goes back.
CC
Marc-Marie:"I actually played my own game on the beach. I didn't
think it would matter. I wanted to do it well, but I thought Yvon is down there
and mixing it all up to let it fail. I had a Superman moment and thought I would
save the challenge!"
Lottie:"I drew a leg for Marc-Marie, because he's got such
beautiful legs. And a thumbs up to say 'Nice!' "
Marc-Marie meanwhile has already decided which
characteristic should go to which contestant.
The balloon has come up. Yvon tells Isabelle the word critical and
what has been drawn.
CC
Isabelle:"Marc-Marie also had... a lot of music had been
drawn... musical notes and a leg! Because he got a temporary tattoo made on his
leg in Bali. So I thought, that has got to be Marc-Marie."
She yells it to him:"Critical is Marc-Marie!"
He heard it and is waving a towel. Isabelle:"I can't come any
closer!"
Marc-Marie, still waving the towel:"I know, it's not
necessary!"
Isabelle:"Marc-Marie is critical! Wave your shirt or your
arm! Marc-Marie is critical!"
Marc-Marie screams:"YES!!!!!!!!"
Isabelle:"Marc-Marie is critical!!"
Marc-Marie:"YE-HES!!!!!!" He waves the towel again. Marc-Marie:"If
she's going to say it once more, I'll..." interrupted by Isabelle
yelling:"Marc-Marie is critical!!!" Marc-Marie laughs
and shakes his head:"I'll just leave her. I can't wave any harder than I
did!"
Isabelle to the camera:"I hope he heard me." She
yells again:"Marc-Marie is critical!!!" Marc-Marie turns
around, waves again and scream:"And he's very angry too!!"
CC
Lottie:"Sander... impatient. I only drew a radio, because the
radio for Isabelle was gone already, so they had to know it would be
Sander."
Marc-Marie writes down on his noteblock:"Marc-Marie
is impatient."
FLASHBACK Isabelle:"Marc-Marie
is critical!!"
Marc-Marie:"I'm playing my own game. I think that's
best. Marc-Marie is impatient, that's what I heard. It was very difficult to
hear and of course she only said it once!" (laughs)
Yvon explains Isabelle the next one is 'impatient' and another
radio. Isabelle tells her that's Sander. Yvon:"You
think?"
Marc-Marie is waiting for the next one and smiles:"Marc-Marie
isn't critical... Marc-Marie is impatient! And a little irritated!"
Isabelle arrives and screams:"Impatient is Sander! Impatient
is Sander!"
Marc-Marie has found a bigger towel to wave and is laughing:"Impatient
is sander and she keeps on yelling that too! She really needs to stop it
now!"
Lottie meanwhile finds a logo of The Mole and turns it around to find
it's Yvon's picture...
Meanwhile Isabelle keeps on screaming Sander's characteristic and Marc-Marie
keeps on waving, irritatedly. Isabelle:"Can you hear me?!"
CC
Lottie:"Yvon, self-opinionated... I drew a core of an apple (=klokhuis,
the name of a show Yvon hosted)."
Yvon finds it, lets Isabelle know about it and
goes to Marc-Marie to scream:"Self-opinionated is Yvon!
Self-opinionated is Yvon!"
Marc-Marie has walked into the water and is still screaming he heard
her. But she repeats it once more. Marc-Marie:"She's torturing
me, really she is!"
Isabelle:"Yvon is self-opionated!!!"
Marc-Marie:"Yeah yeah, I know..."
Isabelle:"I think he's got it." Screaming:"Do
you have it?!!" Marc-Marie, screaming back:"YES!!!"
Isabelle:"Can I go back?.... Self-opionated is Yvon!"
Marc-Marie:"She really is crazy! She isn't even looking at
me!" He's waving the towel again. Isabelle:"Stop waving
if you heard me!"
Marc-Marie:"Stop... Now I need to stop waving if I heard
her!! (laughs) She really is crazy!"
Isabelle:"If only we still had Victoria. She really could
scream!" (laughs)
Their part of the challenge is over. Marc-Marie tells Isabelle he
thinks he won't be able to listen to her voice anymore. She tells him she
couldn't see her.
Yvon and Lottie are walking towards them. Yvon:"I
hate boats and I hate diving and I'm just going to swim in the pool at our
hotel!"
The host tells Marc-Marie he has 25 minutes to find stuff to
represent the contestants and she also imitates Isabelle to him by
screaming to him he's critical!
CC
Marc-Marie:"I chose a cigarette for Isabelle, because she's the
only one who smokes. For Yvon I got a girl's dress, because she likes kids. For
myself I bought a hat and for Lottie I got ice cream... because she had a
success with ice. And apart from Isabelle, Sander is the one who drinks, so a
bottle of beer for Sander."
He gets back to the table with the characterisitcs and puts the
bottle of beer for Sander with 'positive'. The hat that represents himself with
'impatient'. The cigarette for Isabelle with 'bold'. Ice cream for Lottie
with 'critical' and the girl's dress with 'self-opinionated' for Yvon.
The host meanwhile goes to Lottie, somewhere else on the beach and asks
her which characteristics she appointed to which person. Lottie:"I
was positive. Bold was for Isabelle. Critical for Marc-Marie, impatient for
Sander and sel-opinionated for Yvon."
CC
Lottie:"The most important thing was that at the end of the
whole challenge, Sander had to name the correct person with the correct
characteristics that I had appointed."
If Sander has everything correct, they win € 6,000. If
he has 4 correct, they win € 4,000; 3 correct gets them € 2,000; if they
have 2 correct, they don't win anything if he only gets one correct, they have
to pay € 2,000 and if everything is wrong, they have to pay € 4,000!
CC
Marc-Marie:"I thought that the characteristics were
predetermined already, but the challenge turned out to be that Lottie made up
those characteristics and appointed them!"
Sander correctly guesses that the cigarette with 'bold'
is for Isabelle and that the bottle of beer with 'positive' is for
himself. He thinks the ice cream with 'critical' is for Yvon. The hat and
'impatient' for Marc-Marie and then the dress with 'self-opinionated'
remain for Lottie.
He only has one correct! They lose € 2,000 and now only have € 15,000 left.
But Marc-Marie doesn't have the pot with him, so they have to pay later
on.
The host tells them for tomorrow they need two people with a clear view and
three people who would like to do a Dutch activity in Bali.
They discuss it at dinner that night.
Yvon:"I think everybody wants to be with the clear view
people."
CC
Marc-Marie:"We had to select two people with a clear view and
three who would like to do a Dutch activity in Balt. I wanted to be the one with
a clear view. Isabelle too."
Lottie:"Does anyone else have a specific
preference?"
Sander:"I do think that the person with a clear view should
not just be able to see, but someone who can see through things and who is
intelligent."
CC
Lottie:"Isabelle said 'I want to be a person with a clear view.'
to which Sander said 'Isn't it better to have someone intelligent in the clear
view group?' (laughs) and I thought... Ouch that's painful!! And it
suddenly got awfully quiet at the dinner table!"
It is quiet indeed and Isabelle seems to be angry. Isabelle:"So
you think I don't have insight?" Lottie laughs:"Yeah it
comes down to that!"
Sander:"Yes I do think you have insight! I didn't make a
choice. I'm just wondering whether you have that?" Isabelle:"Yes
I do."
Sander:"Well, we never know what's going to happen
anyway."
CC
Marc-Marie:"And then Isabelle started complaining that she had
sacrificed herself several times before already and she had the right to choose
what she wanted to do now."
Isabelle:"I want to be in the group of people with a clear
view!"
Yvon:"So you really want to be with Lottie in a
group?"
Marc-Marie:"Yeah, but Lottie also wants to be in the clear
view group."
Isabelle:"So you want two things? You want to be with Lottie
AND you want to be in the clear view?"
Marc-Marie:"No, I guess if Lottie wants to be in the clear
view group than apparently I can't go with Lottie..."
CC
Marc-Marie:"One thing was for sure. I didn't want to be with
Isabelle in a group again."
Isabelle:"Marc-Marie, clear view? In a challenge??! He's just
going to (makes weird hysterical screaming sound) and there's nothing
clear to that."
Marc-Marie (to the camera):"It's important to say
that you're sacrificing yourself, so that you can choose your own role the next
time, so I sacrifice myself right now!"
Isabelle:"Oh please, Marc-Marie, for once I say I want to be
in the clear view group and..."
Marc-Marie:"No that's ok, but have I ever said 'I want to do
this or that?' "
Isabelle:"With the person who has a strong stomach, I
eventually went. With the first challenge no one wanted to go first and so I
went first. It's not sacrificing, but I do always take the initiative to get to
a quicker solution."
Marc-Marie:"No you literally said you sacrificed
yourself."
Isabelle:"Ok..."
Marc-Marie:"Then I can say that too... ok I'm sacrificing
myself, I'm not going in the group in want to be in, I'll do someone else."
Lottie:"Ok, so we have decided."
Marc-Marie grabs the big microphone from the sound guy and speaks in
it:"So I am sacrificing myself now!"
Day 12 - Samma Ntiga

Isabelle and Yvon are the ones with a clear view and are in the
back of a truck which drives several kilometers through Bali. They have to take
polaroid pictures along the way to remember the road, because the other three
have to cycle the same route later that day.
Yvon is taking pictures while the truck is driving. Isabelle
writes down more information on them.
CC
Isabelle:"Yvon was taking pictures whilst sitting in the truck
and I thought maybe it's smarter to get out of the truck, to take a more
detailed picture of tings. At one point she had also taken a picture of a
street, but she just missed the two temples on either side of the road and I
thought 'Now they'll still can't see it.' "
Sari Batun

Marc-Marie, Sander and Lottie meanwhile already depart on
bicycles. They don't have a compass nor a map. They do have a phone to call Isabelle
and Yvon to ask them where they should go to. They have two hours.
CC
Lottie:"I was enjoying the scenery, it looked beautiful!! We saw
rice fields and lovely green nature."
Isabelle:"At first I thought they would get the polaroids,
but it turned out they didn't. We had to guide them using the polaroids we had
made."
Yvon makes a pictures of a group of people who are
building a house. Isabelle:"They won't be here working at noon,
you know. They'll all be gone. I wouldn''t take this." Yvon:"This
is one of the clearest things we've seen so far!" Isabelle:"Ok...but
if they're gone..."
Meanwhile the cyclists drive past a group of children who all wave at them.
Yvon takes a picture of road signs to show which road they need to take.
Later on they cross a big puddle of water. Yvon takes a picture of it and
a while later, Isabelle makes another picture of a temple.
They arrive in Ubud and have to cook lunch for the others. They get money to buy
ingredients and get a recipe. If the others arrive on time, they win € 3,000.
They walk up a stairs, but then Isabelle accidentally drops several of
the polaroids on the ground!
Yvon:"Oh nooo!"
Isabelle:"That's alright, we numbered them."
They go buy the ingredients. The cyclists have an hour and 22 minutes left.
They call Isabelle who tells them to keep following the road until they
see a big scarecrow on the left and a garden of statues in front of them. Isabelle:"At
one point, the road will go down. To your left you'll see a temple, to the right
side there's also a temple with a kind of roof and the remarkable thing about it
is that there's a very obvious big red Chinese lantern."
CC
Yvon:"The Mole is in the other group, because Isabelle just
isn't The Mole, I don't believe that!"
Lottie:"We had a time limit so we had to be quick..."
Lottie calls Yvon, who starts congratulating her.
CC
Yvon:"I had Isabelle two times and Yvon two times too and each
time Yvon started congratulating me elaborately..."
Lottie laughs but then tells her they just passed the red
lantern. Yvon:"You are doing very well!"
Lottie:"But where do we go now?"
CC
Lottie:"We asked where we had to go to and she said 'Yeah,
you're almost there!' which wasn't true! Yvon was wasting time a lot and not
answering my question."
Yvon guides them now:"To the right you'll see a
school which is a big white building with a sign outside and red and white
flags. Go straight ahead there! Then at one point to your left side you'll see a
lot of men who are building a house. when you're there you'll reach a crossing
point. Call me back then!"
They have an hour and 5 minutes left.
CC
Sander:"I do think it's difficult to guide people through a town
you don't know, by using polaroids. Everything looks like each other and you can
get easily confused."
Yvon and Isabelle arrive at a local family where
they can prepare lunch. They 55 minutes left, but the cyclists seem to be lost.
Sander calls:"We are now next to some men who are carrying bamboo
sticks."
Isabelle:"Ok just keep on going straight ahead, because after
those guys with bamboo, you'll arrive at a clear crossing."
Sander:"Ok then we'll keep on cycling."
They are not at the same spot where the girls were before and Sander
understood that he has to look for a crossing with bamboo... but they don't find
one. Sander calls again and gets Yvon, who tells them about the
men who were building a house and there was a scaffolding. Sander says
they haven't seen that yet and they carry on cycling. Yvon tells them
again that past the men who are building the house, they'll reach a crosspoint.
Lottie to Marc-Marie:"Sander keeps on talking on that
phone!"
Marc-Marie:"Yeah he does! 'Where are your?' 'Oh how nice.'
'Yeah it's Lottie's birthday today!' "
45 minutes left to reach the finish... they still didn't see the men with
bamboo. They call again.
Marc-Marie:"We're at a T-junction now."
Isabelle:"Is the road going down and do you see a temple kind
of thingy?"
Marc-Marie:"The road is going down and we see a kind of
temple."
Isabelle:"And it has a reed roof and wooden poles?"
Marc-Marie:"No, it's a temple made of bricks."
Isabelle:"Then you're wrong. You'll have to go back. You have
to find a green pole with road signs on it."
They cycle back.
Yvon is suspicious:"How can they go wrong, they only had to go
straight ahead."
Isabelle:"Yeah but they got confused because of this picture
where they're building the house. The house could already be finished!"
Yvon:"Nah, I don't think so. And then still, they should just
go straight ahead."
CC
Lottie:"We had to go back and it was all the way up-hill. It was
hot and something was wrong with the bike. I really didn't like it
anymore!"
Lottie:"I can't cope with this any longer."
Sander:"Me neither, but we have to."
They arrive at the crossroad they were at before and it turns out that was
the correct one. Sander calls and Yvon tells them they still have
a while to go.
CC
Lottie:"If you know you'll get the € 3,000 when you cycle up
that hill very fast... but I knew that wouldn't happen, because we had to stop
to ask for directions to the other group all the time and the Mole is in that
group, so we'll never get there."
Lottie calls Isabelle and tells her where they
are:"So we took that road with the road signs pointing this way and we
went straight ahead at a big crossroad and then..."
Isabelle:"Hang on... there is no big crossroad after those road
signs. I think you had to go left."
Marc-Marie:"So there is no crossroad, but if we do find a
crossroad, we have to go left... that's weird."
CC
Yvon:"They went into the wrong direction several times. I
couldn't see who did that, but there's no reason to think Lottie isn't The Mole.
It's not Sander, nor Marc-Marie... so it's still Lottie."
Lottie calls Yvon:"Hey Yvon, this is
Lottie, we..." (interrupting) Yvon"Hey
congratulations!!!" Lottie:"We are at the temple, which
is in front of us."
Yvon:"You have to go to the right and you have ten minutes
left. You'll find an old karate sign."
They arrive at the big puddle they need to cross, but no one told them they
had to cross water. They call again to ask if they have to go over the water. Isabelle
says that's right. They pass the water next to a blue bridge. They have 5
minutes left. The cyclists arrive at a dirt road.
Marc-Marie:"Ok we're on a road now and then? Go to the dirt
road?"
Yvon:"Yes keep on following the metalled road."
Marc-Marie:"I want to talk to Isabelle."
Isabelle tells them to keep on going straight ahead past the old
karate sign. Marc-Marie:"Ok, so onto the dirt road?" Isabelle:"No,
keep on following the metalled road." The cyclists get out of the dirt
road and follow the metalled road to the right. Isabelle:"And
then after a while you'll see a blue bridge where you have to go through the
water!" Marc-Marie:"We've just gone through the
water!"
They almost get hit by a car and have no clue where they are. Isabelle:"The
bridge is the last part, you're almost there!"
Time's up!!! The pot remains € 15,000. The host tells Marc-Marie
she still has to get the € 2,000 from the previous challenge, but he still
hasn't got the pot with him...
CC
Isabelle:"I asked all three of them how the route went and I
still don't know where it all went wrong."
The cyclist seem to be frustrated. When they arrive, Yvon
starts singing 'Happy Birthday' for Lottie while she and Isabelle
clap their hands. But they quickly stop when they see the irritated and
frustrated looks and find out they didn't make it. The two girls thought they
had made it, but something was wrong with the karate sign and the bridge.
Yvon:"One of the pictures got very dark because of that stupid
camera, but we should've kept it so we knew the karate sign was in front of the
bridge..."
Lottie:"Talk about a happy birthday..."
Suspicions
Isabelle:"I'm sticking to Lottie. She was the only one who was
at the bottom of the sea yesterday. Though I do think that Marc-Marie could also
absolutely be The Mole." FLASHBACK
Marc-Marie:"I'm playing my own game. I think that's
best." "So I thought all night if that could be THE clue
to Marc-Marie being The Mole..."
Marc-Marie:"My Mole got sick yesterday, so she wasn't under
water at all, but I didn't know that of course. So Lottie was at the bottom of
the ocean alone, but that worked out fine for me, because now I could act
towards Sander and Isabelle like I didn't trust Lottie."
Yvon:"I know for sure that Isabelle isn't The Mole so it was
a pity I was in the group with her. I'm onto Lottie, even though she did her
best yesterday. She didn't deliberately sabotage anything I think. But
Marc-Marie did! He could be The Mole or try to confuse everyone, so we vote for
him and have it wrong. But I know him too well for that and I'm not falling for
that. I'm going for Lottie."
Lottie:"Yesterday I had a top three: Sander, Yvon and
Marc-Marie. I discarded the others. Marc-Marie is at the last place for me right
now. It's now going between Sander and Yvon. If I had to choose a Mole among
these people I'd go for Yvon, Marc-Marie or myself."
Sander:"Yvon got sick on the boat, which earnt her sympathy.
It's a bit weak if you're The Mole and you use sickness as a tactic to sabotage.
And you give control to other people, because Lottie now had to decide on the
characteristics. Fact remains that Lottie and Marc-Marie had vital positions for
that challenge."
Suspicious in this episode
Lottie's descriptions
weren't always understood.
Yvon didn't dive, because she felt sick.
Isabelle kept on screaming and wasting time.
Marc-Marie changed the characteristics to his own liking.
Sander didn't guess the girls' dress and ice cream correctly.
Yvon made a picture of working men, though they could easily be gone when
the cyclists passed there.
Isabbelle dropped the polaroids so maybe she fiddled with the order.
Yvon wasted time by congratulating Lottie elaborately.
Elimination
The percentage of answers doesn't matter anymore. Only one person will
be leaving. But the host thought they would still like to know the percentage.
They scored 50 %. But who scored least and will be eliminated?
