Adelaide - Australia
Host:"The confrontation with a unique Australian
phenomenon put some things on edge. They were to be the main stars in a police
movie. And one of the contestants got a very hard time..."
Day 6 - Adelaide
The game never ends for The Mole. To make that clear to everyone, The Mole
stole Isabelle's journal that night and put it back at the entrance of
her bedroom the next morning. The contestants awake and some see the journal. Marc-Marie
points it out to Lottie, who thinks it's a Mole act, but Marc-Marie
just thinks it's nothing special. Gijs is still asleep. A while later we
see Isabelle exiting her room and picking up her journal, cheering "Yes!"
They find envelopes.
Confession Cam
Jim:"We each got an envelope with a letter telling us to make a
list of people who can stand strong."
They have to number themselves and their fellow-contestants. At
number 1 to person who stands strong the best and at 9 who's least good at
standing strong.
They discuss it in the group. Marc-Marie:"Standing strong could
also be interpreted literally."
CC
Sander:"We got into a discussion about whether it would be
literally, for example if someone has to stand on a pole for 8 hours and in the
meantime we have to do something and if he falls off, time stops. So that means
you literally have to stand strong."
Jim:"But I didn't interpret it like that, I thought it would
be who has mentally strong enough. I first had Sander at number 1, but because
of the discussion he started acting like a crazy man and seemed to have a bit of
panick. Then I suddenly thought I would be better at standing strong than
Sander."
Sander:"I put Gijs at the bottom, because he has a hurt knee,
so if it's a physical challenge, we don't want Gijs at number 1."
Jim:"I put myself at number 1 and am not ashamed to
admit."
Sander:"The Mole might put the person who's least good at it
on number 1, but who would be least good... I don't know."
Jim:"In the end it turned out I was most good at standing
strong."
Yvonne:"And out of the lists I was, according to the others
the one who was least good at standing strong..."
Jim:"I guess my mom will be proud when she hears these 9
people think I'm best at standing strong in this group!"
They get in the cars and drive to the location of the next
challenge. Jim suggests to play some Shubert music, while in the other
car they listen to pop music. They drive to Wingfield where they arrive on a big
terrain and then a large trailer truck with three trailers behind it, appears.
It drives a short circuit around the contestants. The host gets out and walks
towards the contestants. She tells them that Jim is chosen as being best
at standing strong and Lottie is numer 2. Jim now has to assist Lottie,
because she has to drive the trailer truck on the same circuit of 423 meters.
The trailer truck in total is 35 meters in length. They have to drive between 10
gates, made out of two red cones on either side of the track. Each time they hit
one of the cones, they'll hear a loud sound.

CC
Jim:"I had to go in that truck with Lottie. That was emotionally
the best moment of this week, because Lottie and me get along together
great!"
Time starts and Lottie drives off. Jim hangs out
of the window several times to see where the trailers are going and how she
should drive.
CC
Lottie:"I started driving and put all my trust in Jim, because I
barely saw anything. You feel very powerful in such a big thing and you feel
there's a lot of weight behind you, but I couldn't see in the mirrors what
exactly was happening behind me. Jim was yelling things like 'Drive further
ahead than you think' 'Go straight!'."
Jim (hanging out the window):"Drive straight
ahead."
Lottie stops driving:"What straight ahead, I don't get it.
Hang on."
CC
Jim:"There were two moments when Lottie reacted in her own
special way yelling 'What do you mean Jim, be more clear!!' and then we stopped
the truck shortly and I calmly explained that if I pointed to the right, it
means right, pointing straight ahead means straight ahead and left is left... I
think that's obvious."
Gijs:"Jim is The Mole... Jim De Groot of whom no one expects
it... is The Mole. He told Lottie how to drive and Lottie did so, she followed
his instructions."
They're doing great. Lottie is advancing well and hasn't
hit one single cone yet. A bit further she does hit her first cone. The other
contestants are cheering her on, while Jim is still yelling instructions
and hanging out of the window:"Keep driving straight ahead. Straight
ahead!"
Lottie stops the truck again, because straight ahead she's nearing a ditch:"What
do you mean, do I have to go that way or to the right?"
Jim:"Straight ahead." Lottie:"So you
want me to go into the ditch."
CC
Jim:"The steering between those cones... by stopping and taking
some time; which later turned out to be in our favour, but we didn't know that
yet by then, because you always think you have to be fast and quick."
Gijs:"They could have taken as much time as they
wanted."
The cone they hit is stuck between the wheels in the last
trailer. But she's halfway and still hasn't hit another cone. Although she hits
the second cone after a while and a while later the third one. But she has
finished and this in only 5 minutes and 44 seconds and only hitting 3 cones!
CC
Yvon:"Because she was the first one, she finished at a time that
was very difficultto beat. Looking back, she should have done it worse so it
would be easier for the people that came after her to do it better and win the
money. She I find she did it suspiciously well."
Gijs:"Lottie did it quick, 5 minutes something and only hit 3
cones, that was almost impossible to do better."
Because now, numbers 3 (Sander) and 4 (Marc-Marie)
on the lists now have to do the same, but have to it quicker AND hit less cones!
If they manage to do so, they € 5,000. If not, they have to pay € 5,000.
However, the host has more news. Yvonne, who was at the bottom of the
list, can now take revenge. She can take three pictures of herself or other
contestants and put them on the cones. If the cone with the picture is hit and
falls over, it means that the person's whose picture was on it, gets one correct
answer in the questionnaire cancelled. So for example if that person scores 14
out of 20, his/her score will turn into 13 out of 20.
Yvonne
walks over to the big pictures on sticks to find the picture
of
the first contestant she wants to put on the cones. She picks Victoria.
Yvonne:"I'm starting with Victoria, because with
her volume and words she's able to blow people away. Let's see if she can keep
standing in this situation!"
CC
Victoria:"Oh I totally understand. If I would have been in her
place, I would have picked her picture first too. I even thought it was a
compliment of her to say that I can blow people away. So I didn't take it
personally."
Yvonne:"So I thought well let's see of Victoria will keep on
standing herself in these circumstances."
Victoria:"I probably will."
Yvonne then chooses Marc-Marie. "You will
have so many correct answers, it doesn't matter if you lose one!"
Marc-Marie:"I will never forgive you!!"
Yvonne:"I'll put it at an easy to pass gate."
Lastly, she chooses Sander.
CC
Yvonne:"I put Marc-Marie and Sander at easier spots on the
circuit, because they were the ones who had to drive so I thought that way that
would do their utmost best not to hit those cones."
Marc-Marie:"I know I'm able to drive between two cones. I'd
rather hit Sander's picture than mine."

Marc-Marie drives and Sander has to guide him.
CC
Marc-Marie:"Just before I got on, they told me 'It definitely
has to be in a shorter amount of time!' and I'm already one who drives quite
fast... so I thought let's do this quickly."
Marc-Marie indeed does drive faster than Lottie. Sander
is just casually sitting next to him, not hanging out the window like Jim
did and gives some instructions. They're at Victoria's picture, but
because Marc-Marie is driving, it almost falls over because of the wind. Victoria
yells at them not to drive so fast. Too late... the last trailer hits the cone
and knocks over Victoria's picture.
CC
Yvon:"Marc-Marie also did well, but a bit too brute... he could
have taken more time, so I thought... everything can be a coincidence and
everything can be because of The Mole."
They drive past the cones with Marc-Marie and next also
go past Sander's picture, without knocking them over. At one minute 30
seconds, they're already halfway, but then they hit another cone. Sander, still
not looking out the window or anything, tells Marc-Marie to drive more
slowly. Marc-Marie:"I wouldn't say that if I were you. Because
that's suspicious, we hae to e quick."
He hits another cone and Sander still calmly says to drive more
relaxed.
CC
Isabelle:"What was striking to me was that Sander was so calm!
And he's the ultimate control freak. If anyone's panicky, it's Sander! And he
was so very relaxed."
Sander:"That was real. I also only rememered being to told to
drive slowly and steer in from a broad way and Marc-Marie knew that very well
too."
Marc-Marie:"If we take more time, Sander, then we
lose the money anyway." Sander:"I know, but..."
CC
Marc-Marie:"I'd rather have him looking behind to see if I
wasn't knocking over any cones or anything, but looking out the window and
telling me that didn't seem to be an option for him I guess."
Sander:"Well I could hang out that window 20 times and
hysterically shout these instructions, but I thought that wouldn't help. I
didn't know more then he did. I've never driven with three trailers
before."
They finish in 3 minutes 17 seconds and think they've only hit 1
or 2 cones. But they haven't.. they hit 3 cones and had to hit less than 3... so
they have to pay € 5,000. The host still owes them money from last
episode, which is € 7,000, but minus the € 5,000 they now get € 2,000 and
have a totel of € 13,250 in the group pot. Yvon is still holding the
pot and takes the money.
Gijs is suspicious of Sander because he didn't do much and was so
calm. They talk about it.
CC
Sander:"I think I made myself look suspicious with many people,
because I wasn't hanging out of that window enthusiastically like to Jim to keep
an eye on EVERYTHING!"
Gijs:"Jim hung out the window looking back and
forth and giving instructions and you didn't."
Sander:"Yeah, but it went well!"
Gijs:"And now we lost € 5,000. Thanks to??"
Sander:"Me..."
Adelaide
The contestants are having a drink and discuss the game.
CC
Gijs:"I like them all a lot but I notice the game is getting
more grim. They're all fun people and everyone gets along fine with each other,
but this is not a good team! If this would be the head management of Philips
then Philips would be broks within two weeks."
Yvon:"We've been together with this group 24 hours a day all
the time. It's getting more difficult to put things in perspectve."
Gijs asks Yvon to take a look at the money they
won so far and then decides he will be the new keeper of the money. Yvonne:"Did
we all decide on that?" Jim:"Yeah we didn't talk about
it."
But then the waiter arrives and they don't talk about it anymore. After
lunch they go to the Adelaide Mall for the next challenge. They have to fullfil
a secret mission.
The host presents them three suitcases (that look the same). One contains €
500, the other one has € 1,500 and the third has € 3,000. In the distance
they see an Australian man, named Pete, who's carrying an identical suitcase.
The contestants have to try to exchange his suitcase with one of the three
suitcases they get. But they have to do it in such a way that he won't recognize
who did it. We then see the each holding a sign, as if htey're arrested by the
police. There might be hidden clues in it, so I'll write them down:

The amount of money they win will be determined by the suitcase
that Pete will have at the end of the challenge. So if they exchange the €
3,000 suitcase with Pete's suitcase and they don't exchange it anymore, so Pete
has the suitcase when the game is over, they win € 3,000 IF Pete can't point
out who did the swap. If he does recognize the person that did the exchange, the
money in the suitcase will be deducted from the group pot.
They start. Sander suggests to put one of the women in play to confuse
him. Gijs thinks they should put him in play because he's wounded and
needs help. Isabelle is quiet and listens...
CC
Isabelle:"The Mole needed help."
FLASHBACK to
last episode where she got called by someone with a message from The Mole.
Isabelle:"Through a mysterious way I got the offer. And
whether you have to believe it or not, you don't know. But I thought hmm... I
can do this."
The group is still discussing how to do the challenge. Marc-Marie:"I
think once we tried to exchange the suitcase, he will never let go of it
anymore."
Victoria:"THAT's why I think we should exchange the € 3,000
suitcase..."
CC
Yvonne:"Our cooperation went the way it always goes: based on
who can shout the loudest and who pushes his own initiative through."
They're all talking through each other. Sander:"I've got
an idea, what if we deliberately make a feint?"
CC
Gijs (burrying his face in his hands):"I've never seen something
like that!! Everyone has an idea and no one has an idea..."
All of them are still talking through each other. Marc-Marie
tries to draw the attention by waving his hands and telling them he has an idea.
CC
Gijs:"And then finally we agree on what to do, but then suddenly
they do something else!"
Marc-Marie explains his idea:"Three of us sit at
his table with three suitcases (Pete is having a drink on a terrace)
until he doesn't know which suitcase is which and he doesn't know who exchanged
it."
CC
Jim:"I think that was about the only clear tactic we had come up
with."
Jim:"The person who makes the exchange should be
one of these two (pointing at Isabelle and Yvon) because
they look the same." (both have blonde hair and are wearing red clothes
at the moment)
CC
Lottie:"There was this vague plan to use all red clothes that
were present, namely that of Yvon, Isabelle and me."
Jim:"Unfortunately we didn't have a strategy."
Pete leaves his table and they see it. They start panicking and
talking through each other again.
CC
Lottie:"At that moment, the group got split in teams and from
then on everything became very vague..."
Yvon, Marc-Marie and Lottie run away with a
cell phone, Isabelle runs behind them, but apparently someone calls her
back, so she runs back. They didn't take a suitcase with them. Gijs takes
one and hands it to the group that just left (but has returned to get the
suitcase).
CC
Isabelle:"I didn't want to have that € 3,000 suitcase, but
unfortunaely, within all the commotion, I got pushed the suitcase in my hands
and Gijs told me 'This is the € 3,000 suitcase!' and then I thought... if I
have to do these stunts (trying to sabotage in order to get extra points in
the questionnaire) and I also tell them I don't want the € 3,000, it will
get a bit too obvious!"
Pete is casually walking outside and they follow him. He stops
at some kind of stand and puts his suitcase down. Gijs tells the others
he's standing still. Then Pete takes his case again and walks on.
CC
Yvonne:"When I saw the man disappearing from my view, I went
over to him and had a talk with him, to keep him a bit close to us."
She walks to Pete and tells him:"You really look like my
nephew! When did you come here?" Pete:"I lived here my whole
life." Yvonne:"No that's not true." Pete:"I
don't know you." Yvonne:"What's your name?"
Pete:"Peter." Yvonne:"Peter what?"
The contestants are looking at her.
Yvonne:"You have family in Holland? You can't remember me?"
Pete:"No, I don't have any Dutch relatives." Yvonne:"I
can see in your eyes that you're lying!" Pete:"I don't know
what you're talking about!"
They're standing close to two phone cells.
CC
Isabelle:"At one point I heard him saying he was going to make a
phone call, so I thought.. great this is the time to go to Yvonne, talk to him
and hope he makes that phone call."
Pete steps away and goes to the nearby phone cell. He puts the
suitcase down on the ground.
CC
Isabelle:"And then I thought this is THE moment to exchange the
suitcase!"
Isabelle walks around, while Yvonne distracts Pete
by telling she's sure he's her nephew. Yvon, who looks a bit like Isabelle,
now stands next to Pete on the other side to create diversion. Isabelle
is behind Pete and exchanges the suitcase. She wants to run away, but stumbles
and falls on the ground! Pete of course sees it. "Are you alright? Are
you ok?" Isabelle is really hurt, but says she's ok and walks
away together with Yvon, while Yvonne is still talking to him. But
then, out of nowhere, Jim appears from the other side and very quickly
exchanges the suitcase again! He runs to Marc-Marie and Sander to
tell them he has Pete's suitcase (which actually isn't true, because he now has
the € 3,000 suitcase Isabelle had exchanged).
CC
Gijs:"Jim was the only one who had common sense and exchanged
the suitcase without anyone seeing it!"
Jim:"I had the € 500 suitcase, but I didn't see Isabelle
had already exchanged her suitcase with Pete's."
Isabelle:"No one saw him there! And still he managed to
exchange that suitcase! So I thought how on earth did he manage to do
that!"
Yvonne:"But unfortunately it was the suitcase with the least
money."
Isabelle:"I wanted to fall delierately to draw attention to
me (so she would get extra points in the questionnaire) but it went
harder than it was supposed to be, but you've got to do something for it. So
actually that hard fall saved me, or it would have been too obvious." FLASHBACK
We see the shot of her fall again. She indeed
deliberately knocks her foot against Pete's leg in order to get noticed and to
fall.
Isabelle really hurt and Yvon pities her. Pete
walks on. Marc-Marie is now with Yvonne and he calls the other
group to ask where they are. They are in a discussion because they don't know
which suitcase they have exchanged now that Isabelle tells Jim
that she too exchanged the suitcase. Jim:"The first exchange was
mine, which was the cheapest suitcase, I exchanged it with his case. What else
got exchanged?" Isabelle:"I also exchanged a
suitcase?" Jim:"Which one?" Isabelle:"What
Gijs told me was the most expensive one."
Jim tells Marc-Marie on the phone:"After my exchange, the
most expensive suitcase got exchanged by Isabelle."
So they think Pete is now carrying the most expensive suitcase. But he
isn't.
The group now decides to change clothes with each other to distract Pete. Marc-Marie
on the phone:"We can distract him by letting some people walk to him
with the suitcase, but not exchanging it!"
Yvonne now tells Marc-Marie that Isabelle had fallen
and that Pete will recognize her. No one seems to pay attention to it though.
CC
Yvonne:"At one point we even put several Australian schoolgirls
into play."
Yvonne finds a group of schoolgirls and asks them to go
to Pete and ask for an autograph. The girls ask her if she has a piece of paper,
so it's chaos again, Yvonne looking aroudn for a piece of paper.
CC
Gijs:"It was terrible! It's unbelievable! It's chaos! It's
terrible! And I don't understand that no one takes the initiative by telling
everyone what to do and to shut up. I was so irritated with it."
The other group goes to Marc-Marie and Yvonne.
They mark the suitcase they have with lipstick and walk around the guy while the
schoolgirls ask his autograph. Marc-Marie then runs up to Gijs
yelling:"What are you doing?! I need that suitcase to create a
distraction!" Gijs:"No because Sander just said to"
Marc-Marie sighs:"OK, never min him. (to Lottie) Then
this makes no sense." Gijs:"No but... jesus!" Marc-Marie:"We
need the suitcase to create a diversion, you can't just..." Gijs:"But
then agree on something damnit! I don't understand you guys!"
Marc-Marie walks away:"There's no point in this." Gijs:"Don't
run around cluelessly, because..." Marc-Marie:"I'm
not!" Gijs:"Yes you are, because we're stnading here and
you're there and now you put the blame on us for things going wrong!" Marc-Marie
(while Gijs is talking):"Ok, ok....ok...ok."
Gijs:"So just tell me what you want!" Marc-Marie:"I
said to give me the suitcase. You didn't do that, that's fine, but...."
Gijs:"But I didn't hear that, because I wasn't near you!" Marc-Marie:"But
I called you guys and Yvonne and me were the only ones running after him."
Gijs:"The only thing I heard from you is 'Where are you
guys?!"
CC
Gijs:"That outburst wasn't supposed to happen, but I've got 6 or
7 for handling stress, so sometimes I let it all go."
Pete is meanwhile sitting at another terrace closeby and they
try to come up with another plan. Victoria suggests Lottie should
go to him with a suitcase so he won't suspect Isabelle did the exchange. Yvon
asks Marc-Marie if Pete has seen him. Marc-Marie:"No I
don't think he's seen me once." Yvon:"OK then you should
go over to him." He doesn't know what to ask the man. Yvon
suggest to ask him a sigarette. They also tell him to come back with the same
suitcase and NOT to exchange it.
Marc-Marie walks over to the man and puts the suitcase to the left of
Pete's suitcase. He gets a sigarette, says thanks and wants to go, but takes the
suitcase on the right! He then says:"Oh sorry, I think I took the wrong
suitcase!" He takes the one he was already carrying back and goes to
the group. Marc-Marie (smiling):"You guys thought 'Oh no he's
exchanging the suitcase!' weren't you?!"
Pete leaves the place and takes the suitcase along with him. Yvon:"We
do have a problem! If Jim was the last one doing the exchange then he is the one
who shouldn't be recognized by him!" Marc-Marie:"He
thinks I exchanged it..."
CC
Gijs:"What I did notice today is that it's a king of strategy of
people to create chaos so almost no one knows what has happened."
The game is over. Pete hands the case to the host, who looks
inside it.
The contestants are still talking about the challenge. Marc-Marie:"I
had a plan, you didn't at that moment, I wanted to make a diversion, not
exchanging anything." Gijs:"But there's no point in
that! We marked one of the suitcases, to try to distract the guy. Isabelle put
on different clothes and only Yvon is wearing the clothes she was already
wearing and then he will point at Yvon. That was our plan!"
Marc-Marie nodds:"Yeah... it's a plan. Not a strong one, but
a plan nonetheless."
Jim wants to wear Sander's vest just to look different in case
the guy did recognize him and in case it turns out he indeed was the last person
to exchange the suitcase. They still don't know who was the last person
exchanging the suitcase (it was Jim).
Gijs then suddenly says:"You're all wonderful at this! Go
get that other suitcase which is still on the bench over there and I don't care
anymore! I'll see what the result will be! I think we should all have a talk
with the nine of us, because I can't cope with this any longer."
Jim:"I think it's fine if you can't cope, because that means
I will have more chance to get to the final round and you don't. So I don't care
whether you can cope with it or not."
Gijs:"Ok... if that's the way you feel about it that's just
fine."
Jim:"No it's nothing personal, but that's the aim of the
game!"
They have to do a police line-up and Pete has to pick out the person he thinks did the change. Pete takes a long look. When he sees Yvonne he says:"She just annoyed me." But in the end he thinks it was 'the one in the blue jumper', which is Isabelle. But Jim was the last one, so they win what's in the suitcase which is... € 500. The host hands it to Gijs, who's now keeping the group pot. They have € 13,750.
Suspicious in this episode
Lottie and Jim
drive the big truck very well, making it hard for Sander and Marc-Marie
to beat.
Jim put himself on number 1. Was he hoping this would result in him doing
the challenge in order to sabotage it?
Gijs took over the group pot from Yvon.
The whole suitcase exchanging s one big chaos.
Isabelle trips, making herself known to Pete.
Jim exchanges the € 3,000 suitcase with the € 500 one.
Suspicions
Jim:"Isabelle is The Mole of course! She falls down, looks
behind her, straight into the man's face but denies that to everyone and also
wants to make the rest believe that I'm stupid for exchanging that suitcase.
Isabelle is my new Mole."
Isabelle:"Sander is The Mole I think, because he didn't try
to control everything as much as he usually does. He was too relaxed for how I
know Sander. It's very difficult but I have to say Sander."
Sander:"I'm in an alliance with Gijs, but at the moment it's
not going that well... The annoying thing about an alliance is that you work
together closely, but you also find out more things about each other. You're
starting to distrust each other. But if Gijs is the Mole and he knows what's
going to happen and knows he has to get himself eliminated and then he comes
back... it never happened before but I find it strange."
Gijs:"Lottie has become suspicious, but Yvonne is still a
suspect too. I've been out of the game for a while and picked it back up when I
got back in. I suspected Yvonne and have even suspected Sander. I think Yvonne
or Lottie. One of those two."
Yvonne:"It changes a lot. In the game it's difficult to find
out. I think The Mole is only getting started. But it's also possible there
isn't a Mole at all, which I think is true sometimes."
Victoria:"Up until now I did something different in the
questionnaire than what I said in the confession cam that I eventually got
distracted by the questions which made me vote on a different Mole and that was
Roeland. He's gone and now I have to find someone else and this time I choose an
actress and one of whom I think she stands strong and that's Lottie."
Yvon:"Apparently The Mole works in such a way that even if
you choose the wrong person you're still in the game. You have to guess several
things too. Such questions as what's someone's favourite magazine or favourite
animal, I don't know. All those guesses could work in your favour and that only
means that... I didn't necessarily do well, but someone else did it worse."
Lottie:"Jim, because he exchanged the suitcase after Isabelle
and that case had less money in it. Victoria because she immediately went for
the € 3,000 case and I sometimes see her doing things that make me think she
could be The Mole. Gijs because he clearly acts like The Mole or still could be
The Mole. But I voted Victoria."
Marc-Marie:"I've got several suspicions. Victoria could be
The Mole, but she's acting very 'I am a mystery' and 'Ooooh I might be it!'.
Gijs could be it. It's difficult... Lottie...?"
Elimination
How many people will be eliminated? Last time their percentage
was 39 % and it has to be the same or more, or else two people will be
eliminated... The host reveals the percentage first...
39 %
Host:"As we know, it's extra hard for Victoria today,
because one of her correct answers is changed a wrong answer. But there's
something else! One of you helped The Mole that past few days and that person
receives several correct answers."
So one of them will be eliminated... Who will it be?
