Dutch Mole 4
Episode 10

Rene was eliminated and left three people behind: a winner, a loser and The Mole.

Montreal - St Laurent
We see the same monitor, which we've seen every episode. We see a map too. (the freaky thing is that, while this series was broadcast on tv, an unknown user registered on a discussion board about The Mole and started posting clues and video clips. A week before this episode was even shown on tv, that user posted a video clip in which you could see the exact same map and hear the host giving the instructions! No one ever found out who that user was. Even the production claimed not to know anything about it, when asked during a Mole meeting...)
The Mole starts the instruction tape again. Still wearing the black gloves to remain unknown. The host gives the final instructions:"Hey Mole. Those were a few great days! Solving riddles doesn't seem to be something your fellow-contestants are good at." Flashback of the previous episode where Elise and Rene argue about the car park challenge and also of the bus challenge, where they didn't win much money. "And they lost € 5,000 in a sublte way." Flashback of Elise winning the exemption by figuring out who lied. "Your last victim before the finale has been sent home meanwhile... here are your instructions for the very last time."
We see a tape which contains the confession cams from the contestants. The Mole is watching Elise's. "You know everyone very well by now." The Mole also watches Ron and Chandrika's confessions. "But they don't know you." The Mole now looka at the map. "Everyone knows the sonf Father Jakob, but the last three notes are important. Keep up the good work! You're doing great! The end is near. Good luck!"

Day 20 - Montreal
Three contestants are left. The game is almost over. The contestants have two more days to gain information about their Mole. And The Mole has two more days to let challenges fail.
The three meet the host in a park. She tells them they will test how well they know each other after three weeks. There are three rounds and in each round, they can win € 1,000. Elise is taken away. The game is played in an old neighbourhood in Montreal. Elise is in a house somewhere and Ron and Chandrika have to find her, by answering questions. Elise got three dilemmas where she had to choose between Ron or Chandrika. They now have to guess what she has answered.
Round 1: Find Elise

Question 1: To which one of them would Elise NOT  tell her deepest secret?
The answer they give will decide in which direction they'll walk. If they're wrong, they'll never find Elise.
Chandrika:"I think she talks better to women."
Ron:"Yeah... though this morning I heard what her biggest wish is."
Chandrika looks amazed:"Oh ok..."
Ron:"I don't know if she told the truth though. She didn't tell you?"
Chandrika denies. They decide that Elise wouldn't trust Chandrika with her deepest secret.

Question 2: It's the last day on earth. Who would Elise rather NOT spend it with?
Ron says he really doesn't know, because he never talked about it with her. Chandrika says that a woman would choose to spend the last day with a man. But eventuelly they do decide Elise would not spend her last day with Ron.

Question 3: To whose diary is Elise least curious?
They're standing in front of two doors. If they go for Ron they have to go to the left door. Chandrika means they have to open the right door.
Chandrika asks Ron is Elise ever asked him whether he has a diary. He says she didn't, but that she did ask him several questions. Chandrika:"Yeah she asked me some questions too, but I never answered so she probably stopped doing so. I think she's least interested in my diary."
They ring the bell of Chandrika's door. If Elise opens the door, they're right. They wait...
But nothing happens! The host suggest to try the 'Ron'-door. Ron rings the bell and Elise opens. They were so close, but in the end, it went wrong.

Round 2: Find Chandrika

Question 1: If Chandrika could be one of them, who would she choose?
Elise laughs:"I think she'd rather still be a woman, so I guess she'd choose me. Don't you think?"
Ron:"I don't know. I kinda thought she'd choose me..."
Elise gives in and their answer is Ron.

Question 2: Which one of them would be most likely to commit adultery according to Chandrika?
They laugh and Ron points at Elise.
Elise:"Me?"
Ron:"Yeah, with those stories you told at night."
Elise:"What stories???"
Ron:"In that hut!"
Elise doesn't seem to remember and tells the host:"Well, it seems to be me then."
Whilst walking to their next location, Ron has to explain Elise about 'those stories in the little hut'. We don't get to hear anything more than that though.

Question 3: Which one of them would not be the first to suggest to pay the bill in a restaurant according to Chandrika?
They're standing in front of two doors again. Elise:"I'm a lot poorer than you, so I think she'd choose me. Because I'm a poor student and you're a graphical designer." So they go for Elise. That means house number 4222. Elise rings the bell. Someone opens the door. It's Chandrika! They win 1,000 €.
Elise:"Well you chose me for some nice questions! Adultery and everything!"
Chandrika laughs:"Yeah, but that's because of what you told in that little hut! I just knew it would be you!"

Round 3: Find Ron

Question 1: Both of you have been bitten by a poisonous snake. There's only one seringe with antidote. Who does Ron give it to?
The girls laugh and say it's a nasty question and pity Ron for it. Elise:"It doesn't matter what he answers, it's always a bad answer."
Chandrika jokes a bit about Elise being bigger, so the poison would circulate slower in her body than in her own body...
Elise:"In the beginning I got along more with Ron than you. But now, it's just the two of us. What do you think?"
Chandrika:"I think he'd give it to me. So that's going to be difficult now."
Elise:"OK, we'll just go with you and the next question we'll go with me."

Question 2: Ron wins a million. Who will be most jealous according to him?
They don't know and go for Elise because they agreed to do so in the first question.

Question 3: Which one of them could lie straight in his face about something very important?
Chandrika asks Elise if she can lie well. Elise:"I can lie, but not about something very important."
Chandrika:"It depends who you have to lie to. I think I would be able to do it well."
Elise:"OK, then we'll go for you."
Chandrika:"But I think he chose you. You can lie very well, I believe."
Elise:"But I don't think Ron will think I can lie about something important."
Chandrika:"Well we had that game yesterday about the lying. I think he chose you, because I didn't do well at it yesterday." [they're talking about the challenge where Elise had to guess which one of them was lying.
Elise rings the bell and Ron opens up! They win € 1,000 again and now have € 28,550.

CC
Chandrika
:"The first dilemmas were quite difficult and then Ron's were also very difficult, so it was really wild guessing!"
Ron:"I was surprised they had found me, because my questions were difficult to answer."
Elise:"I don'tthink there were any opportunities in that challenge for anyone to sabotage it. We did get to know each other pretty well, it was nice to see that."

They drive to Laval Penitentiary Complex, an old prison. They will do their last challenge there. Last chance to win money, but also last chance to lose money! Each of them will be locked up somewhere in the prison and have to get out within an hour and a half and meet the host in the central hall. If they fail, it will cost money. They get blindfolded and are taken away and locked up somwhere. If they can free themselves, they'll win € 7,000.
Time starts and they take off their blindfolds. Chandrika is in some kind of hallway. Ron is in a locked watchtower and Elise is locked in a prison cell.
From the watchtower, Ron can overlook the entire prison. He gets a walki talki, a map of the prison and binoculairs. The lock is a voice detecting system. The door will only open if Ron says the right words.
Elise is locked in building D3. The cell block and her cell are both locked. In her cell there's a keyboard and a remote control with which she can control a slide projector, which is standing somewhere else. She does not know what the remote control is for though. In front of her cell, she can see a monitor, which shows an image of a cell in building B14, where Chandrika is locked up. She has a walki talki, with which she can only talk to Ron. Elise can see her on the monitor, but Chandrika doesn't know that yet. They have to exchange information to free each other. Now they can see how well they can work together.
They're playing for 22 minutes already and Chandrika uses the walki talki:"Can anyone hear me? Ron? Elise?"
Ron answers and asks where she is. Chandrika:"I'm in a hallway and have one window and I can see a meadow on a hill through it." Ron:"Can you also see a building that's being constructed? The frame of a building?" She says she does. Ron:"OK I know where you are then. I'm in a watchtower and I can see your building, which is B14."
Meanwhile, Elise found the keyboard and starts playing it. There apparently is a microphone attached to the keyboard, because Chandrika can hear the sounds Elise makes through a box in one of the cells.
CC
Chandrika
:"I heard noises and in the background I could hear Elise. So I went over to that cell and thought 'Hey I can get into contact with her.' but apparently she didn't hear me."

She kneels next to the box, as Elise keeps on playing on the keyboard. Chandrika yells if anyone can hear her.
Ron is overlooking the area with his binoculairs as Elise finds the remote control for the slide projector. A G clef appears, followed by C, D,... Ron is watching it and calls Chandrika on the walki talki. She tells him she heard a melody and sings it. Ron says it's 'Drie kleine kleutertjes' (some kind of Dutch song). He then tells her he saw those letters on building 3, but the light went out.
Ron sings the song into the voice recognition lock. But nothing happens.
Elise says Chandrika on the monitor, who's looking straight into the camera, but doesn't seem to notice there is a camera. Elise yells her name and she hears it and goes to the box and answers, but Elise can't hear her of course. Elise tells her to stand back at the spot she was just standing at and that she can see her there. She also tells her she has a keyboard and a remote control. Elise:"Do you have any idea what I have to do with those instruments?"
Chandrika says "A song." but since Elise can't hear her, she makes waves with her finger (pointing out a melody or something). Elise doesn't understand:"Write something?" Chandrika wants to show her the song she has to play: '3 kleine kleutertjes' (three little toddlers) but doesn't know how to sign language toddlers.
The song is wrong anyway, because that's the song she heard, however it came from the keyboard Elise played on. She probably tried out some buttons and a keyboard usually has some pre-recorded songs in it.
CC
Chandrika
:"The problem with Elise was that she could see me, but she couldn't hear me. And I could hear Elise, but couldn't see her."

Chandrika goes to the walki talki to explain Ron that she can communicate with Elise. "Elise can ask me questions and I can only reply with yes or no by nodding or shaking my head. She's locked in a cell and there's a keyboard."
Ron:"I saw a letter in front of a light and it was the letter C, but I can't see it anymore, because the light is out now."
Chandrika:"That's where Elise is." Ron:"Then she's in building B3."
Chandrika:"So that C is very important. I don't know what it is, but it's a clue." Ron:"Maybe she has to play on the keyboard in C. I don't know much about music, but maybe that's some kind of pitch."
They only have 30 minutes left. Elise tells Chandrika that she has a remote control with which she can control something, but she doesn't know what. She starts pressing the buttons. Ron sees the light going on again and watches at it with his binoculars. He calls Chandrika, who has paper and a pen. Ronasks her to write down the letters he saw (C, E, F, G,... etcetera). She signals it to Elise and also uses sign language to tell her she has to remember it well. But Elise doesn't know sign languae and doesn't understand what she's saying. They go through the letters again.
Suddenly, on a shelf, Elise finds a songbook. She tries to find the song she has to play.
CC
Elise
:"From the letter Chandrika signaled to me, I couldn't do much with them. Until I took a look inthat book to find out which song I had to play and then I found Father Jakob."

She plays the song and Chandrika hears it and tells Ron that Elise is playing all kinds of melodies. She says she should play the '3 kleine kleutertjes' song, because that's what she heard earlier. "The only thing she's playing now is Father Jakob." Chandrika says whilst laughing.
Ron starts singing Father Jakob into the voice recognition lock. He doesn't know the text well though and stops before the last few words (Bim Bam Bom).
CC
Ron
:"At one point I started singing Father Jakob, but nothing happened again and the door remained locked."

Ron asks Chandrika about the text of Father Jakob. She tells him and he sings it again. The door opens when he says Bim Bam Bom!!
CC
Ron
:"Eventually it turned out that Bim Bam Bom was the code to my lock."

Ron has the key to the building Chandrika is locked in. They have 12 minutes left when Ron frees her. Chandrika has the key to building A 12, where they will find their next clue to free Elise. In A12, they find all keys to all buildings and quickly grab the keys to building B3 and run back. to that building. They only have 5 and a half minutes left! Elise is yelling for help so they know where she is. Elise starts playing Father Jakob again to make noise, so the others can find her. Chandrika can open a gate on a floor above the cells Elise is locked in. They find her, but can't get her out.
CC
Chandrika
:"They key B3 fitted to the hallway Elise was locked up at. But we didn't have a key to her cell, so we couldn't free her."

They run to the other side of the hallway and find a kind of mechanism with wheels they have to turn on. If they turn it, an arrow starts moving over some numbers. Elise yelled that she's in cell number 20, so Ron turns the wheel until the arrow is at number 20. They have 90 seconds left as Elise gets out of her cell. Since they only had the key to open the hallway above Elise's cell, they have to go back through the upper hallway and run to the central meeting point to meet up with the host. They make it with 47 seconds to spare! The end total of the group pot is € 35,550.

It was their last challenge. Before doing the test the next day, they will have dinner tonight.

Elise
:"I noticed I'm very tired now, but I had a lot of fun the past three and a half weeks. I did so many things, I can't even remember them all anymore. Too much."
Chandrika:"When I participated in The Mole, I went for the game. But I did say that if I could get into the final round, I'd go for the money. I would win!"
Ron:"I experienced it in a positive way. It was tiring, but mostly very fun! I want to win. Not because of the money. I just want to win!"

Lounge Altitude 737
They have dinner in a high building and of course discuss the game.
Host:"You've playing this game for three and a half weeks now. How would you describe this game?"
Chandrika:"Busy, tiring, seen a lot, done a lot. A lot! Of everything there was a lot!"
Elise:"It's like a pressure cooker. You get to know each other so quickly in such an intense way and at the same time there's the distrust. You can like someone a lot, but maybe that person can be The Mole. But still, that doesn't stand in the way of our friendship."

Host:"Chandrika, imagine you were The Mole. How would you have sabotaged?"
Chandrika:"Well... several mistakes have been made during the past weeks, by many people, so I would make some extra mistakes along the way."
Host:"How about you,Ron?"
Ron:"I'd guide the group to the wrong place a bit, I guess."
Host:"Yeah, you were all very good at that! What would you have done?"
Elise:"I would do something like for example Ron did at the Hearst Lodge [note: he ran past the cabin, which was the finish for the race] Such a big mistake which makes you think it's impossible he would be The Mole. It's too obvious."
Host:"I think you were all Moles during that challenge. I've never seen so many Moles together!"
Elise:"We also said that. The Mole had an easy job, because there were a lot of Moles!"

Host:"One of you three cost two others of you a lot of money!"
Ron:"Yes, but several things cost us money. Such as Astrid leaving and the exemptions..."
flashback while we hear a dramatic violin music piece, we see Astrid at the elimination. She looks at her fellow contestants and says:"I take the money and am going home."
Host:"What was so special about her?"
Chandrika:"Her spontaneity, het enthusiasm, but also her..." Elise:"Happiness. And she had a fun way of mocking herself. Because she arrived with four pieces of luggage and said 'I am a real out-door person!' and we all laughed about that."
Host:"Louis..."
Elise:"Louis was my.. I thought he was The Mole."
Chandrika:"I was always very surprised about the person who got eliminated!"
Host:"But let's talk about the second elimination then, where I offered you to give me all the money so I would stop the elimination."
flashback Elise:"We can either choose to go for the money or the opportunity to have two more days of fun with everyone." And Julien getting eliminated.
Host:"Could you get along well with Aafke, Ron?"
Ron:"Yeah, we got along great. We talked about home a lot and she wanted to talk to her kids and we talked about problems at home."
Chandrika:"She is a very strong woman, but also has her sensitive, emotional sides, which I appreciate."
Host:"Did she also shine at one point in the series?"
Ron:"Yeah, when she did that tree log rolling thing. I tried it myself later on and it is very difficult!"
flashback to the log rolling challenge: Both girls start off, but fall immediately. Aafke falls over on her back
Host:"Who was number 5?"
Chandrika:"Patricia!"
Elise:"She held strong views and didn't mince her words and some people had a problem with that."
flashback to episode 2 on the boat: Patricia on the phone:"OK I'll give you Julien. They don't trust me anymore!" And a later episode with her turning the car on a muddy terrain and getting stuck.
Host:"What was Ferid for person?"
Chandrika:"I had problems with him in the beginning. Especially with the bridge, when I jumped I found he had an immature posture towards me."
Host:"Being an outsider I find he worked very hard!"
Chandrika:"Yeah, he worked hard."
flashback Ferdi arrives at the host first in the very first challenge. Another flashback of him crawling on hands and knees through the snow, trying to find their way back through the forest.
Host:"He was a great guy."
Elise:"Yeah I liked him very much."
Ron:"He was very social."
Host:"Then someone who we miss a lot now..."
All:"Rene."
flashback of Rene's elimination.
Host:"He left something for you." She stands up and takes out a small portable monitor and presses play. Rene appears on the screen:"Chandrika, Elise and Ron... as you see I'm in the car on my way back home. It's very annoying of course, but I liked it a lot. I had fun days together with you. Ron, don't let those women get to you! And take care of the group pot, because a lot of money can still be lost. I wish all of you the best of luck. I'll see you at the reunion."

They make a final toast to the finale.

Day 21 - Olympic Tower
The game has been played. The contestants now have to make the questionnaire for the very last time. They get 40 questions about the past three and a half weeks.
Each contestant has to take the elevator all the way to the top of the Olympic Tower. We hear the contestants' thoughts as they go up with the elevator one by one. Things as which people were involved in which challenges, age, shoe size,...
Every contestant goes up one by one and after having completed the questionnaire, go back down, take a taxi and drive off.

Elise:"Chandrika is The Mole. It took her very long until she signaled she could hear me. Then she started signaling letters in sign language, which I don't know. Plus she gave me wrong letters. A big Mole act!"
"It already started on day 2 in the tunnels with the mirrors. She did her best not to deliver a good constructive action."
flashback of Chandrika moving her mirror a bit and bumping into someone else a little.
"At the lumberjack, she had the easiest challenge: to boil water. She knew who was the real lumberjack and who wasn't. And if you choose the real one, it's easy to lose without getting noticed."
flashback of the challenge where they had to go to the sugar shack. Elise and Chandrika run into a church. Patricia finds the answer at the front desk though and searches them back, but they can't find Chandrika.
"At the church something weird happened... we lost Chandrika and eventually found her in the chruch's bassment. That was a weird action to lose time of course. Chandrika is The Mole!"

Chandrika:"I switched. I made my switch to Ron. He's kept a very low profile, was calm and quiet. He told us he was shy. But when he did jump off that bridge we all found him very courageous, while really he doesn't find it that scary. I foudn that strange. If you're The Mole, you can always try to make sure you're one of those people who have an exemption."
flashback of Chandrika and Ron having to find the objects the others mentioned in the game 'I am going on a holiday and...'
"I found it strange that when we had to go collect that stuff and we didn't have much time left, I suggested to split up, to find more objects. He then told me we couldn't do that, because we had to do everything together."
"I noticed that during the challenge of the subway, Ron gave the wrong time to Elise. It was 4:30, but he said 5:30."
flashback of George (last year's Mole dressed up) telling Ron in the music store that he has to get to Bonaventura metro station at 4:30. and next a shot if Ron telling Elise they have to be at the metrostation at 5:30
"The challenge failed because f that. Ron is The Mole to me."

Ron:"There's only one person left to me: Elise. Especially after the interrogation challenge I thought there was no other way then her being The Mole. She said so many things and tried her best not to be guilty."
flashback of Elise running towards the helicopter with the suitcase and getting shot by Ron
"At the paintball game, when she came running with that suitcase and me shooting her, did her good. She deliberately chose to be the last one and to get shot, so she would be less of a subject."
"She has also been sabotaging in the factory."
flashback of Elise not knowing the date she and her boyfriend were officially a couple. In the car to the pub: Rene:"Who's fault was it now?" Elise:"Mine!" Rene:"So we lost €1,000 because of you?" Elise:"Yep!"
"She was doubting between the 21st and the 17th and lost €1,000 because of it. So there's no other way. Elise must be The Mole!"

CC
Ron
:"It's over! I don't have to do anything anymore. Don't have to remember all those facts, luckily! All has been done, I can't do a thing about it anymore. Now for the final results and then it's all over."
Elise:"The past three and a half weeks were so tough and so intensive. You get carried away so much. And now it's the end. You don't have to do anything but wait for the results."
Chandrika:"This is it! We're on our way to the final result. Luckily, finally. Let it come."

The taxis arrive and they enter an extremely large building and get into the elevator, which brings them to the roof of that building. Very exciting, because a story already leaked through on the internet. Just like last year, something went wrong with the final elimination. Last year, the contestants were supposed to parachute jump out of a plane and the professional jumpers would make sure they would land on the right spot. The winner would land on a green flag, loser on a red flag and The Mole on the Mole logo. However, the weather got bad and an error occured. They jumped out several kilometers off-track.

This time, the leaked story said they were standing on top of a high building and just when they were about to make the winner known, a strong gust of wind knocked down a telephone mast, which almost fell on top of the crew and contestants!

So very exciting indeed. We see them going up with the elevator and then see this:

However, I won't let you wait. Continue to episode 11 and find out the results.
