Day 15
The three are each given a GPS (Global Positioning System) which
can work out where on the world you are and where you want to go to. Each of
them has to choose a way of transport.
Jennifer chooses to travel by air, Zi by road and David by
sea. When they arrive they have to listen to a tape which gives them a sequence
of four numbers they have to remember. When they reach the finish, they find a
safe and 4 credit cards. The card that has the right sequence of numbers they
had to remember, opens the safe. They get 2 and a half hours.
Zi has chosen the starting point furthest away from the finish. He also
has dificulties with his GPS, which is supposed to get him to the finish. He
borrows a bike from someone to try and get to the finish as quick as possible.
But he gets cramps and has to lie down for a while. He doesn't arrive on time.
Jennifer doesn't know how the GPS works. She manages to find out where
she has to go to, but doesn't know where she is right now. She gets lost and
finally ends up at her starting point again. Instead of running, she's walking
most of the time. When her time's up, she isn't even close to the finish.
David does find out how the GPS works, but has bad luck. His safe is on
some rocks in the sea and the tide is too high to get there. They lose £15,000.
They were asked to wear boiling suits during the challenge and nothing alse.
Since all of them wore additional clothing, could have gotten them disqualified.
The final challenge: Zi, David and Jennifer are
given a clue to find an object which gives them more instructions.
Clue 1: "In the old Town's end, you will find the diary of an elusive
creature we're all chasing. Read it well. It is the first chapter of a long
journey."
They had to find a copy of Sue Townsend's novel, The Secret Diary of Adrian
Mole. They search and search. It's right in front of David's eyes, but he
doesn't see it. After a while they do find it and there's a map of St Hellier in
it. Zi has to find a ringing phone box, shown on the map, within four
minutes. When he arrives, he finds another clue.
Clue 2:"A colourful garland can hide a multitude of different sins. Root me
out and go potty."
David and Jennifer find a second map at a florist called Garlands
and phone Zi, who's till waiting in the phone box. He has to run to
another phone box where he finds another clue.
Clue 3: "You may reel around a fountain, but you need to cast your net
further afield. You'll find me in water, but eventually between bars. Scuttle
for an answer written in ink."
David and Jennifer go to a fish market and find the next map
cuttlefish. Again Zi has to run to another phone box, where he finds the
last clue.
Clue 4: "If I knew you were coming, I would have left my mark… get stuck
in."
David and Jennifer decide it has something to do with food. Time
is runnig out when they find a map in the centre of a cake with the Mole logo on
top of it.
Zi has to run to a square, where he has to find someone whose mobile
phone is ringing. It turns out to be the host. The challenge is complete. But
they don't win the money, 'cause they took 3 minutes more than the alotted time.
Suspicious
None of them won money in the first challenge. David had bad luck
though.
David didn't see the book when it was right in front of him.
