Belgian Mole (part 2)
Episode 3
Marie-Rose, the heroine of the bullring, had to go home last episode. And there were some arguments in the group. In the beginning of this episode everything seems to be cleared up.

Day 7
For the first challenge Michiel needs two contestants who can
count to at least 953. That's David and Dominiek. In the car on
their way to the challenge David tells Dominiek he suspects him.
He answered the questions according to Dominiek "And I'm still in
the game, so I must be right."
The others drive to the library. Just outside town there is a carriage,
which will make a tour through town. The 6 contestants have to get on that
carriage, but they need a ticket. They can find tickets in the books in the
library. On the ticket they see the location of the stop and at what time
the carriage will stop there. Every correct answer leads to a ticket in a book
and the ticket leads to the stop. But they're at a Spanish library, so they have
to know the Spanish title of the books. They can win 150.000 BEF.
Question 1: What does the Latin word Quasimodo tell you?
Hugo:"Isn't that 'The Hunchback of Paris?"
Actually it's the Hunchback of the Nôtre-Dame... But they try to find the
author.
Question 2: They get the 2 last pages of a famous book. Which book?
Eef:"Here, TARA! Isn't that of the movie Gone with the
Wind?"
Luc finds the author of the Hunchback... It's Victor Hugo. They find
the ticket and Carine will run to the first stop. Eef gives her
the ticket. She draws the place, where Carine has to go to, on it.
Question 3: Which book does this video clip apply to?
It's a video of Jurassic Parc. Marianne knows the author, Micheal
Crighton.
Meanwhile we see the carriage at the first stop. But where's Carine? The
carriage departs again and as the camera turns, we see her running in an alley
at the distance. She missed the carriage.
The others found the ticket for the third stop. Luc will try to catch the
carriage. Meanwhile the carriage has passed the second stop. They didn't know
that 'Gone with the Wind' was written by Margaret Mitchel.
Question 4: Who wrote 'Los cigaros del farao'?
Marianne finds the author. It's Hergé. Eef and Niki try to
find the book. But then suddenly Eef realizes that it must be a comic
book.
Meanwhile Luc has reached the carriage. He's the first one on it. Five to
go.
Carine arrives back at the library. Eef finds the ticket. Hugo
goes to the stop. He's in an alley and suddenly the carriage passes the street
in front of him. Luc waves at him. Hugo makes it of course,
because the carriage still waits at every stop.
Question 5: Find the 1315th book on the shelf behind me.
Marianne:"Can't we just pass on this one and get on with the
next?" They start counting anyway. Marianne finds the ticket. Carine
tries again. She can't find the carriage. She's standing at a tower, and she
doesn't know how close she is to the carriage, because on the other side of the
tower, the carriage is already waiting. Finally she does manage to find it.
Three more to go.
Question 6: Which book can you relate to this music clip?
It's a song of Kate Bush. Marianne:"Titanic?!" Eef:"No!"
Marianne:"Oh no, isn't this that song with those
rabbits?" Eef:"Bright Eyes? No that's not it." They
listen some more. Marianne:"Wuthering Heights?" Niki
and Eef:"What?" Marianne:"Wuthering
Heights?" She says the right title two times! And still nobody reacts.
Nobody knows the author. Of course it's Emily Brontë.
Question 7: This book is known as 'Het Verlangen' in Belgium.
Marianne looks it up in the dictionary and finds that 'verlangen' means
'deseo' in Spanish. Niki tries to find the author, but can't find it.
Question 8: They get a picture where the book is situated.
They find it and Niki goes to the stop.
Question 9: Michiel names a few characters. One of them is Corleone.
Marianne thinks it's The Godfather, but she nor Eef know the
author. They pass the question of 'Het Verlangen' to have more time for the
final question.
Question 10: What does the name Sancho Panza tell you?
Marianne:"Zorro!" Eef:"No..." Marianne:"Oh
no, Don Quichot." The last two questions MUST be correct, because there
are only two tickets left. Eef finds Don Quichot and the ticket in it.
She manages to get to the carriage. Marianne is left alone now. It' s up
to her to make this challenge a success. The last ticket is in 'The Godfather',
but Marianne doesn't know the author, nor the Spanish title. She tries to
find the author in a book. If you look very quick and very close, you see her
opening a book. She looks for the author. In the book we see '... El Padrino,
novela escrita par Mario P....' the rest of the author's name is covered by Marianne's
thumb! But she can't find the author. Time's up... The author is Mario Puzo. Now
she has to meet the others to tell them the bad news. Everyone is in the
carriage except for her, which doesn't make it easy to tell. Hopefully David
and Dominiek will win some money.
They will become shepherds today. A challenge for 100.000 BEF. They are on a very big field. On the other side of it there is a meadow. They have to get the sheep in the meadow and count them. They can choose a dog to help them. There are three dogs: the real sheepdog, a Pekinese and an Alsatian (German shepherd). The contestants don't know the race of the dogs though. Dominiek wants the small one (the Pekinese) because he thinks it's to deceive them. "It would be too obvious if it were one of the big dogs." David doesn't want the small dog, though. But Dominiek can change his mind, so they choose the Pekinese. Totally wrong choice! After 10 metres Dominiek already has to pick up the dog and carry it. They don't manage to get the sheep in the meadow. They couldn't even count them, which actually wasn't that hard, because there were 953 sheep.
Suspicions
DOMINIEK
Eef:"Everybody knows that! A Pekinese! Those are small things, which
you can squash with your toe and you just have to feed it chocolate and then he
picks a Pekinese to get 1.000 sheep together!"
Flashback Dominiek:"They
are never bigger than the sheep themselves!"
David:"I knew it wouldn't work with that animal. I
sacrificed the challenge to be sure he is the Mole."
MARIANNE
Luc:"She should have known Mario Puzo. Even I knew that! And I also
knew Hugo Claus, but I wasn't there to help anymore. Now they can say that
that's my fault, that I'm the Mole."
HUGO
Marianne:"I didn't find it very logical that he left that soon. I
thought he would decide to help as long as possible, but suddenly he left... I
didn't find that very logical."
EEF
Carine:"I left first and I didn't look at the map, because someone
already had done that for me and she sent me to the wrong direction.
Eef..."
Day 8
It's time to test whether the contestants are really occupies
with finding the Mole and how far they will go. Each of them is interviewed, but
then Michiel must leave for a while. A hidden camera films what the contestants
does. Michiel deliberately forgets his notebook and a map on the table. Will the
contestants look in it to get to know more?
Eef is first. She only takes a short look at the title on the map. But
that's all. Each interviewed contestant must wait in a separate room of the
contestants that still have to do their interview. Luc is next. He starts
leafing through the notebook and takes a look at everything. But when he's back
in the room with Eef they realize that it was all a set-up. Marianne
and Carine don't look at it either. Dominiek says to the others
that there was nothing on the table. But when he was alone we could see him
looking straight into the lense of the hidden camera. "Something's
wrong." The others find out he's lying, because he starts laughing.
Niki looks at the map and starts leafing through the book. But when she's
back with the others she says she didn't look. "What if there was
another hidden camera over there?". David doesn't look, Hugo does.
For their next challenge they first have to draw envelopes. The person that has a piece of paper with a cross, has something special to do. Hugo is the first one to pick an envelope and it turns out he immediately had the right one. He is taken to a secret location. The others can hang out at the beach. Dominiek tries to tease the others. First he wants to throw Eef in the water, then Marianne and then he hides David's clothes. Then everybody has enough o it and they hunt on Dominiek. David manages to pull of Dominiek's swimming trunks. Then he tries to find his clothes. Eef gets them first and together with Dominiek she throws them in the water...
The challenge they have to do is in a deserted village. Hugo
is tied up in the church, the others have to free him and get to the finish.
Only Hugo knows where the finish is. But there are two hunters in the
village, who can shoot the contestants. They can't shoot back, but there is a
weapon in the church. If Hugo arrives at the finish with at least one of
the others, they win 50.000 BEF. The contestants are ready to go, but first
Michiel goes to Hugo, because he must make a difficult decision. If he
arrives at the finish alone, he wins an exemption. So he can chose for the group
or for himself. What will he do? Whatever happens, the church is a save place.
No one can shoot inside of the church.
They start the challenge. They can communicate with each other via
walkie-talkies. Marianne gets shot first. The others ask her what
happened, but of course Marianne's connection is broken, because she's
supposed to be dead. Dominiek gets shot second, followed by Carine.
Luc arrives at the church first, followed by David and Niki.
Hugo has a strategy to deceive the hunters and explains it to the others.
Suddenly they hear through the walkie-talkie:"Hey guys, where are
you?" Eef is left alone in the village. When she hears the
others are already in the church she runs very hard and makes it. Hugo
explains his plan. David and Niki have to sacrifice themselves to
deceive the hunters. He will run to the finish with Luc and Eef. Niki
gets shot, followed by David. Hugo arrives at the cinema (the
finish), he turns around and... shoots Eef !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Eef
looks at him surprised. Then there is Luc. Hugo:"Quick get
inside. It's safe in here!". Luc gets inside and Hugo
shoots him. No Money, but Hugo has the exemption. Everybody is angry at
him, especially Luc. Eef has to come between the group and Hugo
and finally they apologize for their reactions, except Luc.
Suspicions
Niki:"The exemption... at that moment we all felt
betrayed, but on the other side... I don't know if it's a sign that he is the
Mole."
David:"Hugo isn't the Mole. I know him too well for that.
I've analysed him enough and I have spent enough time with him to know that for
sure."
Dominiek:"I'm not doubting, but it's difficult to
concentrate."
Eef:"Dominiek is inscrutable. He tries to make himself
suspicious.Or he is the Mole or he's playing games."
Carine:"I think I know it and I'm not going to change my
mind."
Luc:"I still think I'm right. I've started writing down
everything today. Ad I'm not gonna change my mind."
Marianne:"It's like evryone is playing some kind of
role."
Niki:"I have made a choice and if you choose to go for one
person, you know that you're taking risks."
David:"The people in the group don't really know me. I'm not
David right now, I'm David who's playing in the Mole."
Luc:"To me the game started after the explosion a few minutes
ago. Before that it was just a little game."
Dominiek:"I didn't expect this game to take so much
energy."
Suspicious for the viewers:
Marianne can't find the author of 'The
Godfather', not even when she looks in a book and the name is under her thumb.
Carine misses the first stop.
Hugo goes to the stop very soon instead of helping with the questions.
Niki can't find the author of 'El Deseo' and says she didn't look in the
books althought she did.
Marianne and Dominiek got shot very quick.
Hugo shot Eef and Luc.

Click on their pictures to see if that contestant has to go home. Hugo
certainly won't have to, because he has the exemption.
