Australian Mole 3
Episode 7

Pete, one of the most liked person by the contestants, had to leave the group
last time. Six people were left. One of them is The Mole.
Day 13
Their new assignment will test their driving skills. Each
contestant will be trained to carry out a different task. Then they will have to
do a relay race in 2 laps. There are cones in each test. On top of each cone is
an egg. If they knock an egg off a cone, they lose $500.
There are three different driving tests. So there are three teams of two people.
One group will have to do a slalom driving. Forward first and then backwards:

Ann-Maree
Crystal-Rose
Another group will have to do a handbrake turn and then reverse
into a small box (lined out by cones with eggs on them):

Alaina
Marc
And the final two have to drive two 8 figures on a wet road:

Bob
David
They get 30 minutes training by the instructors. In the
training, doing the slalom forward, is easy. It's doing it backwards which will
make it difficult. Crystal-Rose knocks down one cone driving the slalom
backwards. Luckily it's just a training.
Ann-Maree also goes forward easy. Then she reverses around the cones. She
knocks down 2 cones. One in the slalom and one at the finish line.
Alaina is taught to do the handbrake turn and drive in reverse in the box. She does it almost perfectly. Marc is next. But he's a little overenthusiastic. He brakes hard and knocks down a cone whilst driving into the box backwards. That would cost $500 if it weren't a training session. He opens the door to see if he has parked the car ok, but knocks another cone by opening the car door. That would also cost $500.
On the skid road, David is completely in his element. He's racing fast and is being very macho. Bob is a truckdriver, but that's no experience compared to what he has to do. He has some difficulties, but makes it without knocking a cone.
Now it's time for the real deal. The eggs are placed on the
cones. If they win, they get $10,000. but each egg they knock over will reduce
the prize with $500. They have to complete two laps of the circuit within 15
minutes. And it's a relay race. So the first test is done first, the contestant
has to drive it to the next stop (within the four cones) where the next
contestant takes over.
Ann-Maree starts off first. During the practice, she hit 2 cones, but
now, she does it perfectly. She races to Marc, who will take over. She
parks the car correctly in the box and Marc takes over. 2 minutes 10
seconds so far. They are ahead of schedule. Marc does a better handbrake
than in the training, but he doesn't reverse all the way into the box. He wants
to drive off already, but the instructor tells him he has to go into the box
completely. They're still ahead of schedule, but this mistake cost them time. Marc
races to David. They're nearly halfway and gaining time. There are 20
eggs on the wet road, so David has to be carefull. He safely does it,
with all eggs intact. They're 30 seconds ahead and halfway.
David brakes too late and is outside the box. He already got out of the
car, but the host tells him he has to park in the box, so David quickly
gets in and drives backwards a little. Crystal-Rose:"Hurry
up!" It cost them 15 seconds.
Now it's her turn. In the practice she knocked over one cone, but she does
it flawlessly now. But she's just cruising to the next stop instead of racing
and it cost them time. Alaina will have to make up for that. She's
driving it fast. Too fast, and the car spins too early. She's still far off from
the box, but has to go in reverse. Trying not to copy Marc's mistake, she
backs in too far and knocks off one egg. Driving to the next stop, she hits off
another egg. That costs them $1,000, but they're back on schedule again.
She drives to Bob, who takes over. He drives off, but forgets a
fundamental rule: he didn't put on his seatbelt. He must turn back, put his
seatbelt on and start over. It costs time, but he loses even more time: he
misses the first set of cones before the skid pane. Not much time left for Bob,
but he arrives in time and quickly gets out. They made it in 13 minutes 35
seconds. Everyone cheers, but the host says that, when David drove the
car too fast into the box and had to reverse, he didn't put his seatbelt on. So
he has to do his part again in 1 minute 15 seconds. In the first part it took
him 1 minute 30 seconds, so he has to be really fast to get the money. The rest
is waiting anxiously. They see David arriving and he runs towards the
host, with 2 seconds to spare. They win! Davidsaved the challenge, but it
was his own mistake he was making up for.
CC
David:"I had a minute and 30 seconds or something to get back in
the car, race to the skid pane and do 2 circles and get back into the box. And I
did it with 2 seconds to spare. Who's the man? I'm the man!!!"
Crystal-Rose:"David didn't stop in the square, which is an
easy thing to do, you just stop in the square. You can see all 4 cones and know
where to stop."
Bob:"David and his penalty... it's possible... it's possible
the Mole was at work on the circuit today."
Day 14
It's 1 am in the morning. Everyone is fast asleep and the host
wakes them up. They are staying near a rain forest and that's where their next
assignment will take them to. They divide into two groups:
Group 1:

Bob
David
Ann-Maree
Group 2:

Crystal-Rose
Alaina
Marc
Each group gets a map with a track on it, which they have to
follow; a night shot camera with which they can film in the dark and a
flashlight. They have to film at least 5 different species of animals between
them in one hour for $5,000.
We see some shots, taken by a professional to proove that there are a lot of
species to find in the dark, so they can succeed if they look ou for them.
Each group will follow a different track. The only light they have is a torch
light. They are only allowed to film animals with backbones, so it excludes
insects.
After 5 minutes, Alaina spots some small animals. They are paddy melons,
a type of kangaroo. (you can see a picture of one here: http://www.tonsyl.org/dayout3/paddymelon.jpg)
The other group has less luck so far. David thinks he has spotted a bird
and shines at it with a torch light. Bob says he thinks that's not a good
idea to shine directly at it. Ann-Maree:"Let's not argue, we have
to work together as a team." And they continue. A bit later, David says:"Move
it, Ann-Maree. You're being slow. I don't want to be offensive, but we're on a
time call." Ann-Maree:"OK I'm moving." David:"Move
it, you're dawdling too much!" Ann-Maree:"If you give me
another time call, I will jam that camera right up your ***."
A third of their time has passed already and they have only filmed one type
of animal between them. Crystal-Rose suddenly screams and moves
backwards! She almost walked into a spider's web. Marc films the spider.
Bob finally finds some animals too. They're paddy melons. But they don't
know the other group already found those animals too. So theirs don't count.
Marc, Alaina and Crystal-Rose find a Thorny Frogmouth,
their second animal. (See a picture of a Thorny Frogmouth here: http://www.faunalexikon.de/eva-hejda/vogel/pictures/Eulenschwalm.jpg)
The other group arrives at a pond. It's their last hope of finding another
animal. David tries to film a kind of frog, but all he sees is water
beetles and they don't count.
Their hour is up and the tapes are checked by a professional.
They look at Group 1's tape first. The paddy melons are correct and then next
they see a lot of water, trying to film a frog. They can't see anything, but
suddenly something appears and they rewind the tape. Group 1 has got 2 species.
The other group arrives too and their tape is checked. First they see the paddy
melons. But because these are eating grass, the professional says they're a
different species of paddy melons, so it's counted correctly. Next they see the
thorny frogmouth. The spider is not counted, because it's an insect. They only
need one more. And on their way back, they found a Yellow Robin (http://rainforest-australia.com/Pale-yellow_Robin_5.jpg)
They win $5,000, but it was a close call. Group 1 was lucky to have seen
anything at all.
CC
Bob:"David and Ann-Maree just kept on yacking with each other.
There was too much noise because of them."
We see some more footage of it: David:"Don't touch me, I've
got the camera!" Ann-Maree:"I tripped over a stone, what
was I to do?"
Ann-Maree:"We had an absolute fight. Dave was being an
absolute lunatic"
David:"I told Ann-Maree to shut up and keep moving, but she
was just slowly moving along. Sorry Ann-Maree, but you're just too slow and
you're slowing us down."
Ann-Maree:"I don't mind me being assertive, it's just there,
but the sheer arrogance of it is that I'm just an old mouthy cow and it's just
degrading."
The next night, they have to do a diamond heist. There are 5
diamonds worth a total of $15,000 (labelled from $1,000 to $5,000) and they have
to steal as many as they can. But the diamonds are protected by lasers. Every
contestant gets one try. Trip the laser and an alarm goes off and their turn is
over. If they get caught while they have a diamond, they lose the amount that
diamond is worth. So if they're not carefull, they will lose $15,000 out of the
kitty. They have a total of 5 minutes to get the diamonds. Before they start,
they have an overhead view. The remaining players can instruct the contestant
who's trying to get a diamond. The most expensive diamond is way in the back and
the cheaper one is in front. They get a spray can, with which they can make the
laserbeams visible.
Marc goes first. He goes past the $1,000 and $2,000 diamonds and heads
for the $3,000 one. But he's getting close to the laserbeams. He's crawling over
the floor, but touches a laser beam with his head. He has used 35 seconds out of
the total of 5 minutes. He can give advice to the others and tells them to
forget about the $3,000 diamond and to go for the $2,000 and pick up the $1,000
on the way back.
Crystal-Rose is next, but she doesn't see the laser on the top and gets
caught really fast. She gives the others some instructions about where the
lasers are. Alaina asks whether it's a good idea to go for one of the
farther diamonds, because they already lost 2 people on the easy ones and so she
does. She sprays at all lasers, but steps on a laser and is out. They are
halfway through and haven't got a single diamond. she tells the others that at
the place she was at, you can grab the diamond if they're carefull. Crystal-Rose
tells them to keep their heads down.
David's next. He's going for the $2,000 diamond. He's atthe place Crystal-Rose
got caught, but knows he has to keep low. He grabs the $2,000 diamond. If he
trips the alarm now, they will lose $2,000. He goed back, almost setting of the
alarm. Crystal-Rose and Alaina are gasping as he does. David
is now close to the $1,000 diamond. It's a risk, but he's going for that one
too. He makes it home safely. They have won $3,000 so far, but there's still
$12,000 wirth of diamonds.
Bob goes next. They have 1 minute and 30 seconds left. Bob tries
to be fast, to race against the clock. He sets off the alarm.
Less than one minute to go now and it's all up to Ann-Maree. She's going
for the $3,000 diamond. The others are instructing her where to go. She almost
sets off the alarm and the others tell her to stop. She reaches out to grab the
diamond, but suddenly David yells at her to leave it and stop! He's still
at the overhead view with the host, because he managed to get some diamonds and
he sees on the host's watch that they've only got 2 seconds left. So their time
is almost up and if she takes the diamond, they will lose $3,000. Luckily she
listens and leaves the diamond. $3,000 towards the kitty out of a possible
$15,000. The kitty is up to $47,000.
CC
Bob:"I'm not The Mole. It's a nice try of everybody, but... I'm
here to win the money!"
Alaina:"I'm not The Mole, I'm here to win the money, so
hopefully it will turn out that way."
Crystal-Rose:"No I'm not The Mole. Look at me, how can I be
The Mole? I can't deceive people."
Ann-Maree:"No, I'm not The Mole, though I expect people think
I am, because I'm a real estate agent. Some real estate agents bend the truth,
but I don't."
Marc:"I'm not The Mole for the simple reason that I'm a
lawyer. My job is finding out the truth and not creating lies."
Suspicions
David:"Bob is climbing higher and higher in the list of being The
Mole. He forgot to put on his seatbelt at one stage, which is a real suspicion
of being The Mole."
Bob:"I'm still sticking with Marc as a top suspect. He's
still too cool, the few little things he does are a bit weird. Crystal-Rose is
not suspicious to me. I haven't seen her doing anything strange. Alaina is just
a waste of time and effort. She's not in calculation."
Alaina:"Both Bob and David forgot to put their seatbelts on,
which makes them both suspicious, because it cost us time. Marc is still a
suspect. He doesn't really make obvious mistakes or attempt to ruin things,
which is why I'm keeping him as my main suspect."
Marc:"Bob is still high on my list. Another person who is
high on my list is Crystal-Rose, I'm just having a hard time putting my finger
on sabotages in challenges she was involved in. But I still consider her a
suspect."
Crystal-Rose:"The past few days, my suspicions have turned to
David. My other guess is still Marc. He's highly intelligent and can easily
deceive."
Suspicious in this episode
Crystal-Rose drove to the
next stop slowly.
Marc didn't fully drive into the box backwards, losing time.
David didn't stop fully into the box, so he had to reverse but didn't put
on his seatbelt doing it.
Alaina knocked off 2 eggs, costing $1,000.
Bob forgot to put on his seatbelt.
David and Ann-Maree kept on argueing, chasing the animals they had
to film away.
Everyone but David tripped the alarm with the laser.
CC
Bob:"The only person I don't want to outsurvive me on the show
is Alaina. I'm sorry, she's just too man-hating. she's the only one."
Alaina:"I don't care who wins, just as long as it's not David
and Bob."
Marc:"I really don't want to be beaten by Dave. He is so
ultra confident that he will win and that's why I want to win."
Ann-Maree:"If David beats me... I will probably break the
television set."
Crystal-Rose:"I don't want David to win. I don't think he
will do anything good with the money. He's a selfish person and he'll spend it
selfishly."
David:"I don't want Alaina or Crystal-Rose to win. I really
want to win the money for my family, because I really want to look after my mom
and I want to make sure that my mom is safe in the future."
Elimination
Before starting the elimination, the host asks
everyone who they would like to see get eliminated. He asks it in group, so the
others hear what they say.
Bob:"Definitely not myself. But I'd choose Alaina."
Alaina:"Euhm... yeah I'd have to say Bob." Bob
taps her on the shoulders friendly.
Marc:"That's a tough question. I'd probably say Dave. He plays
the game very hard, but he has all right to do it. But at this point I just
think it has a bad effect on the group."
Ann-Maree:"I'm afraid David as well, but only because he's so
good at what he does. He puts everybody off on edge."
Crystal-Rose:"Surprisingly, David. I think he can be quite
single-minded about himself and it's bad for the group."
David:"I hope it goes well for me tonight, but I disagree
with them totally. I think I'm a team player. I always play for the team. Screw
their comments. I hope one of you guys goes. Good luck anyway."
But this isn't a popularity contest. They don't get to vote other people off. So who has done the test worst? Click and find out:
