Episode 4

Yasmin, the youngest contestant, got eliminated last episode. 9 people remained. One of them is the Mole.

Day 8
The contestants are taken somewhere blindfolded. They don't know where they are going to. Suddenly they hear a voice:"Contestants, take off your masks."
And so they do. To their surprise they notice they are in the game The Weakest Link!

Thao:"And then when I heard her voice, I want absolutely nuts. I just couldn't control myself."
Ann-Maree:"I just about wet my pants, I couldn't believe it!"

This edition of The Weakest Link went on air a few days before. But there's a special twist to it that wasn't shown yet.
All the money they win, will go to the prize kitty and the contestant that wins the game, will get an exemption to the next episode. We see some of the questions and answers.
TWLHost:"Joe, leaping from a height while being secured with an elasticized rope is known as what jumping?"
Joe:"Parachute?"
He got both his questions wrong and got voted off in the first round.
After being voted off, they are taken to a waiting room. But they don't know that the waiting room is rigged with hidden cameras and microphones, because in a little, a trap will be set.

TWLHost:"Alaina, in the abbreviation COD, what does the D stand for?"
Alaina:"Pass."
TWLHost:"Delivery."

Alaina got voted off after the second round. They are interviewed when voted off:
"I'm actually thinking that Marc could be the Mole at this stage. A good strategy for The Mole is to keep the weaker players in the game and get rid of the stronger ones to keep down the overall money win. I am probably one of the stronger players, though I did get some questions wrong."

After Pete got voted off, there was a short break. This is were the trap is set in the waiting room. One of the production crew people comes in the room carrying a yellow folder with all questions and answers of The Weakest Link. She leaves it behind. If they look in the folder, they will be caught cheating and will lose all the money they have won in The Weakest Link.
The trap has been set. The game is being played again and the three voted off people are in the waiting room.

After round 4 they are up to $11,400. Crystal-Rose is voted off:
"We are trying to work as a team, but I know the Mole is in there somewhere, subcharging us. I feel Thao is manipulating us quite a bit. She's not banking when she should bank and she gets quite offended about other people's remarks about what she's doing."

TWLHost:"Ann-Maree, name the Australian state capital that ends with the alphabet's penultimate letter."
Ann-Maree:"Canberra."
She gets voted off this round.
"It all seems easy when you ain't there, but it's very different when it's lights, camera, action!"

At the beginning of round 6 they still only have $11,400.
David gets voted off. Marc, Bob and Thao are left and during a commercial break, they start argueing.
Bob (to Marc):"I'll be honest with you I'd rather face Thao in the last round than you."
Thao:"You can't stand there and say 'Let's do it for the team!', because right in the beginning, when I answered every single question right, you voted me. So obviously there's a flaw in your arguement."

But the money and exemption the last three are playing for, could be in danger. Back in the waiting room, the 6 contestants that got voted off are talking to each other. Joe is sitting near the yellow folder. Suddenly he picks it up and leafs through it. After a while he has put it back down again. But they are not yet out of danger. The three finalists enter the room too. A bit later, Alaina picks up the folder and reads through it. But she too puts it down again. It's Marc who notices a tab in the folder labelled Q & A. Marc:"Questions and answers?" Alaina:"I don't know, it's just the record schedule." Marc:"It said Q and A."
They have seen the questions and answers, but did they actually cheat? The game continues...

Bob and Thao vote Marc off. Bob:"Mark's too much of a threat to me."
In the interview, Marc says:"I think it would be naive to say everyone was in it for the team. Everyone was playing for themselves and what ever way they could get to the exemption, they were prepared to do it."

So in the final round it's Bob against Thao.

Bob wins the exemption and together they won $14,100. The lowest amount ever won on The Weakest Link.

They go back to the waiting room to find out if Bob will indeed receive the exemption and if they will win the money. If they have cheated, it will all be gone. The host reveals that they were secretly filmed with hidden cameras. Host:"In your contracts, which you signed for The Mole, it stated specifically that you would not read or divulge any information that would aid you into completing your assignment. We deliberately placed some production notes in here and y ou were all filmed. The production notes were picked up... and they were looked at. However, we think that you didn't communicate the information to anyone else and you didn't aid anyone still in the game. So therefor the money stands and the exemption stands."
Everyone is happy. Bob:"One day you'll all understand why I did this. Forget wanting that free pass."
Marc:"Why don't you just tell us now, Bob? Instead of 'one day'?"
Bob:"OK. I wanted to do something to impress my kids." He walks off and starts crying behind the door. Everyone applauds and says it's a good reason. The money they won is round up to $15,000.

Day 9
They will have to raise money for charity. One group will draw caricatures, another group will be performing as statues and a third group will be given massages. They are trained first and then have an hour to raise money. Any money they raise, will go to charity, but if they raise $300 or more, they will win $5,000. They are all filmed with hidden cameras.

Joe, Bob and Ann-Maree are the masage group. They have high expectations of what people will pay for a massage. But it's only after 20 minutes that they find their first customer.
Pete, Crystal-Rose and David are acting like statues. After a while, Crytsal-Rose has had enough and quits. She suffers from heat exhaustion.
Marc, Alaina and Thao are drawing caricatures. Marc is ok at it. Alaina isn't. But best of all at the cartooning is Thao. She pulls in some money.

The jobs are over and the groups go to the host one by one. The massage group raised $109.55. The cartoonists have $102.25. The total is $211.80. Then the statues arrive and they all laugh at how they look. They have $96 and thus succeeded in the challenge.

Their next challenge takes place in the afternoon. Joe, Marc, Bob and Thao are going to fly. They will drop the team's luggage out of the plane. The luggage already cost the team a lot. Last time, some of the contestants payed $4,000, just for some personal things like an Elmo doll and a radio. Now they will drop the luggage out of an aircraft. They will find a dropzone and then sms the host directions as to where to find the luggage. The others will then have to find the luggage using only those directions. If they can't find it within 3 hours, they miss out on $5,000, but will also lose their luggage.
The other 5 don't know anything about the challenge yes and are taken sightseeing on the canals. It's like a maze, because there are a lot of canals. If they don't pay attention, they won't find their way back to the cars and will have no chance of finding the luggage.

The other 4 are now in the aircraft. The dropzone is about 1 km away from a dam, which is the biggest landmark there is. The dropzone is in a golf resort. The problem for them is to describe instructions for their friends, because they can only use limited amount of symbols in an sms. The luggage is dropped with parachutes. Both parachutes land within 15 meters of the dropzone. One of the parachutes hangs in a tree. Now they have to instruct the others where to go. If they fail, they will have no clothes but what they're wearing for the next few weeks.
They are discussing what to put in the sms. Thao suggest to let them go to the dam and look for tennis courts. Bob has a different idea and they keep on discussing. Thao:"Let's just do rock, paper and scissors then."
Marc:"No, let's not do any of that, I've got the phone, I'll give the directions."
They had 3 hours to start with, but with dropping the luggage and all the discussion about the sms they now have less than 2 hours left.
The sms they send says: NTH WEST FROM BRLH HEADS DAM PAST DAM ENTRNCE RESORT PAST HORSE STUD CLEARING NEAR RST LOOK FOR GREEN ROOF AT ENTRNCE NEAR RST

The others have been on the water for over an hour and have no idea what the others have been up to. The host tells them their luggage got thrown out of a plane and gives them the directions on sms. Ann-Maree takes the phone but immediately hands it over to David, because she's not good at it. The host informs them they better go by car, but they'll first have to find the cars. It would only take them 5 minutes to get back to the cars over the main canal, but they get off of the main canal and get lost. An hour and a half to go and they haven't even found their cars.
What could have been a 5 minute trip, has already taken them 45 minutes. Finally Crystal-Rose sees the place the cars are.
They have one hour and 5 minutes left.
The boys are in one car, the girls in the other. They can talk to each other on cellular phones. What they need now, is time work. What they have got... is an arguement.
Alaina on the phone with Pete:"Ann-Maree knows her way around here, so she will lead."
David doesn't agree. Alaina:"Why does Dave want to lead?"
Pete:"Because we're both power freaks."
Alaina:"But Dave's a psycho, right?"
Pete:"Dave wants to know why Ann-Maree wants to lead."
Alaina:"Because she knows this place quite well."
Pete:"Does she?"
Alaina:"Yes she does!! Tell your psychopat driver to stop being such a power freak!"
David:"She is a power freak that woman."
Alaina:"OK fine, forget it! We'll speak to you later."
The girls stop and ask for directions in a shop.Alaina:"We're looking for a dam near Burleigh Heads that might have a resort near it." The very first person they meet, told them exactly where they can find a resort near a dam and they drive off. They are getting closer to the luggage. At least, they think they are. They have 40 minutes left and have taken a wrong turn. Ann-Maree has taken the lead. David is discussing it with Pete:"If she's The Mole were bloody screwed."
35 minutes to go and everything seems to be coming together. David has seen a green roof. Pete calls Alainato tell her. She has seen a dam. Crystal-Rose:"And there's a horse stud right there!"
They stop and get out to talk. They think they are very close, but in fact they are more than 15 km away from their luggage. They see green roofs everywhere now. Pete and David even start looking into closed containers to see if their luggage fell in it.

Time's out. They have lost the chance to win $5,000 and their luggage. The other four are yet to hear the news. The others arrive and tell them they failed.
Ann-Maree:"Whoever gave us the directions, they weren't really good."
Thao:"What was wrong with the directions?"
Ann-Maree:"Do you know how many green roofs there are?"
Thao:"Was it the one with the tennis court?"
Ann-Maree:"No, there was nothing about a tennis court..."
Thao:"I knew we should have written the tennis court!"
The host tells them they can still get the luggage back, if they pay $5,000 for it. Ann-Maree immediately says no. David:"In situations like these, it's a majority vote. It's a democracy, we have to vote."
So they vote. Alaina, Pete, Crystal-Rose, Thao and Marc want the luggage back. That's a majority. Ann-Maree:"Yeah just through the money out of the window. What about when we were driving? We all agreed..."
Crystal-Rose:"We didn't agree anything!"
Ann-Maree:"Oh come on give me a break!"
Crystal-Rose:"You said that you would take it."
Ann-Maree:"I never said that."
Crystal-Rose:"Well, I'm sorry, but I like fresh clothes in the morning."
Ann-Maree:"So do I, but I had to work in these clothes for the last 10 days. We're supposed to work as a team to get money together. But what are you doing here? You're throwing away money."
Thao:"It was a majority vote."
Ann-Maree:"Oh yeah, you paid $1,000 for your freaking Elmo doll, please leave me out! This is just too stupid for words! It's stupid! We're trying to get money into the kitty!"
Thao stands up dramatically and walks off.
Ann-Maree:"We're doing this together, trying to work together and get some money."
David:"That's what I think too."
Ann-Maree:"All we're doing now is making sure that whoever does win, doesn't get any money. I'd hate ever to be in a war or somewhere we had to depend on you people, because we'd be lost."
Thao is crying next to a flower pot:"I'm sick of Ann-Maree giving criticism for being who I am and being an emotional person. I'm sick of her condemning me for everything I do."

They now have a total of $15,000 in the kitty.

Bob:"Something definitely went wrong. Whether it was our message, or they misread it or didn't look at the overaal picture and didn't think about us being in an aircraft."
Marc:"I wanted to put punctuation in the message, but Bob didn't and obviously that was a problem, because they read the first part as Burleigh Heads Dam."
Alaina:"They didn't mention exactly what dam it was and misleading the green roof thing."
Ann-Maree:"Obviously it was sabotage from the plane team. Just standing on the balcony you could see that there are so many green roofs. We asked for directions to people and we got perfect directions!"

Suspicions
Crystal-Rose:"I'm finding it very difficult to try and work out who the Mole is for sure. Everyone does something suspicious and people pretend to be The Mole."
Marc:"Crystal-Rose is capable of being the Mole, but I haven't really seen her do anything that has earned any money for the group. I don't think anyone suspects Joe. He hasn't made any money for the team."
Joe:"David is a suspect to be The Mole. He shows many personalities and is a bit of a crazy guy. When you deal with a crazy guy, you never know what to believe what he's telling to you. I still think he's a really good suspect for The Mole."
David:"Bob is suspect being The Mole because he's far more smarter than he makes out. And Thao I'm a bit suspicious about her as well. She's either a bloody good actor or just genuinely not coping very well and cries at the drop of a hat."
Thao:"I think Bob could be The Mole, because he seems to be a very sly person, but he makes people believe that he's just a typical truck driver. I also think Pete could be The Mole. He answered the questions that are obvious to every person on earth, incorrectly."
Alaina:"I still suspect Marc. Todat he was on the plane team and sent the message, which was really confusing and difficult to understand."

Suspicious in this episode
Joe, Alaina and Petewere the first three voted off The Weakest Link, because they didn't win much money.
Joe, Alaina and Marc took the yello folder and played with it a little.
Crystal-Rose gave up playing a statue during the charity raising, because she suffered from heat exhaustion.
The statue team (Crystal-Rose, Pete and David) gathered the smallest amount of money.
Thao and Bob spent a lot of time discussing what to put in the sms.
Marc sent the sms, which was a confusing message, but he blames Bob because he didn't want him to use punctuation.
The team of 5 lost a lot of time on the canals trying to find back the cars.
Alaina and Ann-Maree were in a discussion with David and Pete rather than doing the assignment.

Thao:"If someone has to go, obviously I would choose Ann-Maree. When she said 'This bloody Elmo, you paid $1,000 for that.' I felt really offended, because she knew how much it means to me."
Marc:"I'd probably like either Ann-Maree or Thao to get eliminated tonight. I don't think that deceit suits Thao's personality."
Bob:"Ann-Maree, take a chill pill! Calm down! Stop being so silly as to say the world is against you. We're not teaming up against you. Calm down!"
Ann-Maree:"I don't think I'm going to make it tonight. I'm more angry with myself for allowing them to get to me than anything else. Because if I failed at the game, I failed myself by allowing them to get to me."

Elimination
Bob can relax, because he has a free pass. One of the others will have to leave...
