Australian Mole 3
Episode 3

John, the oldest contestant of the team, got eliminated last episode.
Day 6
They
have to choose someone who considers him or herself to be a shopaholic. Yasmin
volunteers. She has a relaxing day off. The others will be shopping for her.
They have a budget of $2,000,000. They have to split in 3 groups. One
group will have to buy a house, the next group hast o get a car and the other
group a boat. If Yasmin selects the same house, boar and car they win
$10,000.
Each of the group will be given 5 choices: 5 houses, 5 boats and 5 cars. They
also have to make sure they stay within the budget of $2,000,000.
Shopping for a car are:

Joe
Crystal-Rose
Alaina
On their way in the car, they are already discussing about what car to
choose. Alaina tells the others that Yasmin told her she has an
old car, a kind of '82 Mercedes. Joe:"Does she likes sporty types
of cars?" Alaina:"We didn't talk about that, we only
talked about what car she has."
They arrive at the car shop. Of the 5 choices on offer, 4 are sports cars
and one is a Bentley. When they look at the Bentley and hear the price
($505,000) Crystal-Rose says the car is too blokey for Yasmin.
Shopping for a house:

Ann-Maree
Pete
Thao
The prices of the houses range from $900,000 to $1.8 million.
Shopping for a boat:

Bob
David
Marc
The boats range from a small run-about to a half million cruiser. They go to
the biggest and most expensive boat.
Thao (house shopper) calls Crystal-Rose (car
shopper) to tell her they have narrowed the houses down to three possibilities,
but they are quite positive that they will go for this house that costs
$1,250,000. Crystal-Rose tells her they're looking at a lamborghini of
about $500,000. Thao tells Pete and Ann-Maree about it an Ann-Maree
says Yasmin is not a lamborghini type. But the car shoppers want to go
for a test ride anyway.
Before they take out the lamborghini, Joe tests the Ferrari. It's
certainly his style, but is it something for Yasmin?
The house buyers have opted to only visit one property, a $1,250,000 water
front. Is this the type of house Yasmin would want? Get it wrong and they
lose $10,000.
Alaina can take a ride in the blue lamborghini. The fact that it's a blue
one makes it look better according to Alaina, because red would be over
the top.
To be sure that all things they buy stays within the budget, they have to keep
in contact with each other. But there's a problem with the boat shoppers,
because they have no signal on their mobile phone.
Thao calls Alaina to ask her which car they go for. Alaina tells
her that the lamborghini will rock Yasmin's world and that it costs
$500,000. Thao tells her they are going for the $1,250,000 house. Alaina
asks her if she could get in contact with the boat people, but neither of
them could get through. The house buyers find it very suspicious that they can't
get in contact with them.
They have all selected a house, car and boat. It's all down to Yasmin
now. She gets to pick the items she would like to have. To win the $10,000 she
has to choose the same items the others have chosen for her and stay within the
$2,000,000 budget. She has chosen and the others arrive. She chooses the correct
house an Ann-Maree, Thao and Pete are very happy. The boat
people arrive too. Yasmin shows them the boat she has chosen and everyone
starts screaming and yelling. It's correct. Now for the car. If she also has
selected the same car, they win the money.
Yasmin takes the card and turns it around. She chose the Bentley...
everyone's disappointed. Yasmin to Alaina:"I told you
yesterday how much I liked old cars!" Alaina:"But the
boys said you liked soft tops and compressors and stuff. We chose the
lamborghini." Yasmin:"I don't like sports cars."
They missed out on $10,000. Was it a misjudgement or was it caused by the
mole?
Confession Cam:
Crystal-Rose:"I just can't believe that we totally disregarded
the Bentley, it's a really nice car. It's just weird for a 19 year old girl
wanting a Bentley."
Pete:"Everyone was surprised that Yasmin chose an old car.
Crystal-Rose, Alaina and Joe had been talking to Yasmin and she told them how
she liked big sort of old cars."
Bob:"She (Alaina) pushed for that car she picked for. She
knows it wasn't her style. So the car was totally wrong."
They immediately have to select the person in the team who's the
toughest. They all go for Joe. But how tough is he? How much pain can he
endure? He is taken to a torture chamber. But it's not real. He won't be in real
pain. He has to convince his team mates that he is suffering pain. It's the
ultimate morality assignment. How much pain will they inflict someone just to
win money?
Joe is taught by an actor how to make people believe you're in pain. He
will be strapped into an electric chair and his team mates will see his face on
camera. The contestants think that for each question they answer wrong, Joe
will be given an electric shock. If he is convincing enough so that the others
quit the assignment, he wins a free pass.
The contestants arrive and they can see Joe from far. then they turn on
the monitor, where they can see he's strapped in an electric chair. The host ask
for a volunteer to feel how electric shocks feel. Thao immediately wants
to go. She is given a minor electric shock. The machine ranges from 0 to 100. At
100 it burns tissue and causes permanent damage. With Joe, they won't go
that far, but they will go to 50. It doesn't cause permanent damage, but it does
involve a lot of pain.
Thao has the electrodes on. The machine is put to 5. She feels a little
tintling. At 10 she softly says ouch. The instructor tells her not to fight the
shock and puts it up to 15. Thao's arm twists around slowly and turns
into some sort of a cramp. The shocks that she felt are real. David tries
it too. He's going up to 25. His arm and hand turn as the electric shock gets
higher. He stops at 25. They know how it feels know, but they don't know Joe's
shocks will be fake.
The contestants have to answer 20 questions. If they answer all 20 questions
(whether it's right or wrong) they get $5,000. However, for each wrong answer, Joe
will get a shock. For every wrong answer, the voltage goes up by 5. They have 10
seconds to answer each question. How far will they go and how far will Joe
be able to keep up? They can give up any time they want, but will they?
Question 1: Florence Nightingale was a nurse in which war?
They all agree it's World War 1. The correct answer is Crimean War. Joe
gets a shock of 5. He acts like he feels nothing and everyone laughs and is
relieved.
Question 2: The Sydney-Hobart yacht race was first held in which year?
They don't know it and Marc guesses 1941. It's wrong, it was 1945. Joe
gets a shock of 10. The contestants whisper things like "Don't fight it,
Joe".
Question 3: Transilvania is a region of which European country?
They go for Bulgaria, but it's Romania. The shock goes up to 15. Joe
twirls his hands, like we saw Thao and David do before.
Question 4: How many Apollo space missions were there?
Bob says it's 17. Correct!
Question 5: The biggest selling Australian single of the 80s was by which
act?
They go for INXS, but it was Kylie Minogue with Motion. Joe gets 20.
The others can stop at any time. They will lose out on the money that way. But
what they don't know is that Joe is faking it and he will earn a free
pass if they quit.
Question 6: Australia was ranked what numer in the overall middle telly in
the 2000 Olympics?
They go for 5. Wrong! Four. A shock of 25 for Joe. The same shock
where David gave up.
Question 7: Which car manufacturer has a black bull as symbol?
They don't know it and go for the Chrysler. It's wrong, the correct answers
is lamborghini. A shock of 30. Joe seems to be in real pain. They yell at
him to hang on and breathe. Marc:"Aren't we going to get him
out?" Thao:"How do you think we can get him out?"
Question 8: On a standard telephone key pad, which number corresponds to the
letter P?
They all count and agree on 7, which is correct.
Question 9: Name either famous Australian on the plastic $10 note.
They have it wrong again. Joe gets a 35 shock. He screams and the
contestants can hear him and start to feel sorry for him. Joe shakes his
head and breathes wildly. Thao:"Guys, can't we just..." Bob:"We
have started something and we'll finish it!" Thao:"No,
you can't say that."
Question 10: What is the most southernly capitol city in the world?
It's Wellington, but they have it wrong. The host tells the assistant to put
the machine to 40. Crystal-Rose:"No, pull out, please?"
Host:"Do you want to continue?" Thao:"I say pull
out." Alaina agrees, because it's 40 already. They vote for who
wants to pull out. Thao, Alaina, Crystal-Rose, Pete
and Marc want to pull out. Since Marc is the spokesman (he also
had to give all answers), he can decide. He decides to pull out and end the
assignment.
They think they have done the right thing. What will they think of Joe
when they find out he has fooled them? When he arrives, they applaud him. The
host asks him how it felt. Joe:"It was really no pain." Ann-Maree:"You
acted the whole thing, didn't you?!" and she slaps her arm chair in
anger. He tells them he has a free pass. Luckily they laugh about it, but are
they really that happy about it?
CC
Bob:"You had five of them, four birds and Marc starting 'Oh no
no no we can't go any further, we've got to stop."
Crystal-Rose:"The minute we walked out that door we were just
at each other's throat!"
Bob:"They just said it worked on their morals. But I agreed
with Ann-Maree: let him fry!"
Crystal-Rose:"Ann-Maree decided to tell everyone that she
knew that Joe was faking it, but she didn't want to tell anyone of us."
Ann-Maree:"It was too stupid for words, they all carried on
like a bunch of wussies, with their humanitarian grounds."
Crystal-Rose:"That's it, everyone can fry now as far as I'm
concerned!"
Day 7
For the next challenge, a mine field is set up. There is a big
grid and hidden underneath the sand in some of the squares are metal plates.
Step on it and it sets off an explosion. They have to get across the mine field
without getting blown up. But first htey have to select two people who they
trust completely. Bob and Crystal-Rose are chosen. They have three
minutes to detect the mines with a mine detector and to write it down on a map. Bob
goes into the mine field to detect the mines, Crystal-Rose maps them.
They have to be quick and als otry to avoid getting blown up by stepping onto a
mine. The map they're creating is the only thing that will help the others.
Because they had to be so quick, they missed a few spots.
The others get 1 minute to loo at the map and memorize it. The best way to do it
is for each person to memorize a row or column.
Marc goes first. He has to go from start to finish. Marc steps on
a mine on his third step. A loud bang goes off and the sand flies through they
air.
Joe is next. He retraces Marc's steps. That way he's sure that the
first few steps are correct. The others are still on the side, helping him. The
three steps Marc did, were safe for Joe, but his own fourth step
is a mine.
Ann-Maree goes next. She follows Joe's steps and can already
advance to the 6th row of the grid of 8 rows. She doesn't know where to go and
goes diagonally. It's a mine. Sand and fire sparks fly into her face. (luckily
they're wearing protection goggles)
Yasmin is next and she can follow the steps Ann-Maree did, all the
way to the 7th row. Her last step is correct too and she's reached the finish.
She wins $1,000 for the group.
The start and finish points have been moved, so only the memory of the map can
get them across. Thao is next, but gets blown up in her 3rd step.
David tries too and gets blown in the 4th step.
Alaina is their last hope of winning another $1,000. But she steps on a
mine in the 6th row.
They have only won $1,000 for the kitty.
That night, someone will have to leave. But before then, there's
another surprise: their luggage. In episode 1 they lost big parts of the
luggage:
Ann-Maree:"I've got only 2 white t-shirts, which are no longer
white."
Alaina:"Marc only left me with 2 or 3 tops. I haven't got any
matching underwear and they don't match my clothes."
Yasmin:"I don't have underpants! I mean how can a girl get by
without underpants?!"
It's now one week later and they are offered the choice to buy
their luggage back for $1,000 per person. The choice is theirs:
CC
Thao (super happy):"I can have my luggage?! You're kidding me?"
Marc:"I need some extra shirts."
David:"No bloody way... no way, I don't wnat it, keep it."
Alaina:"It's only $1,000 so..."
Bob:"No. No way, I'm not going to take out $1,000 for that. I
can do without"
Ann-Maree:"I'd rather leave the $1,000 in the kitty. Blow
ya."
Crystal-Rose:"No, I'm fine thanks."
Joe:"I'd love to see my food back. It would be great."
Pete:"Yeah party time! That's cool. That's awesome."
Four of them have bought back their luggage. It costs $4,000 out
of the kitty, but they all have their own reasons for it. Thao grabs her
elmo doll, hugs it ands falls on the bed. Alaina takes out some underwear
and stuff. Joe did it for his bodybuilding food and Pete has his
speakers back now. But they've got some explaining to do.
They meet and talk about it. Ann-Maree:"You took away $1,000 for
some bloody speakers? You've got those headsets already!" Marc:"Some
speakers?!"
David:"No one has the right to so this, unless we have a
majority vote!" Joe:"I would do anything for my
nutricious food! I'd walk around naked!"
Thao:"I just wanted my Elmo back." Bob:"Yeah
the elmo." Marc:"You've done without it for a week, you
can do without it for another few days!" Thao:"Or else I
would cry at night." Ann-Maree:"Well you cry all the
time anyway!" Thao:"No that's... I don't appreciate
that..." and she walks away.
Their kitty total now is $28,000.
Suspicions
David:"I reckon Marc is The Mole, because he's too smart
for his own good. I've got Pete ruled out, I don't think he's got it in him to
be The Mole. I'm still a little bit suspicious about Ann-Maree. I think she's
pulling off a big show. Alaina? No, not interested in her."
Alaina:"At the moment I4m thinking Marc. He seems to be
pretty sly and he's an extremely good actor. So it makes him an obvious
suspect."
Marc:"I think Bob and all his enthousiasm points at him for
being the Mole. And certainly today at the minefield challenge, he said he had
only 3 minutes to scan the minefield, but a lot of the mines that went of were
blank squares on the map."
Bob:"I figure Marc could be The Mole, he doesn't talk much to
people, he hides everything, he's too Mr Weird. Alaina? Sugar and spice and all
things nice my ass! She's one devious little woman! There's something about her
I don't really like. And Thao. I don't think a 21 year old is really that
dumb."
Suspicious in this episode
Alaina
insisted to go for the lamborghini, however she knew Yasmin had an old
car.
Joe conned the others into believing he had real pain and won a free
pass.
Thao, Alaina, Crystal-Rose, Pete and Marc voted
to give up the assignment with Joe.
Yasmin was the only person who made it across the minefield.
Thao, Alaina, Joe and Pete bought back their luggage with money
from the kitty.
There's friction in the group. Everyone has a person they would
most like to see eliminated:
CC
David:"Crystal-Rose really thinks she's top. I'll tell you what,
I don't think you're going to make it as a model, love. You're pretty full of
yourself, though I guess that's positive for a model. And you're totally
overrated for starters."
Crystal-Rose:"David is a dickhead. I think he's
schizophrenic. He's harassed us numerous times."
Ann-Maree:"Alaina's always complaining 'I don't want to go,
I'm sick of this outdoors. I'm tired of this, tired of that.' So just go if
you're sos ick of everything. And there's our little Thao, who cries and
cries."
Bob:"I'm sick of hearing those bloody people saying they're
tired."
Elimination
Joe can relax with his free pass. Who will be the next victim?
