Episode 7

Nikki got eliminated last time. And she's not coming back into the game...

Day 14 - New Caledonia
It's two weeks since they've started playing the game. They have $ 61,000 and can win another $ 10,000 in the next challenge: banana boats.
They are divided in two teams: boys and girls. Each team has to sit on a banana boat which is ragged by a motorboat. They have to switch places in order to win money.
In the first pass, the boat won't go very fast. They can win $ 1,000 if they succeed.
During the second pass, the boat will go a bit faster and they can win $ 3,000.
The last pass goes faster and is worth $ 6,000.
They have ten minutes for each pass.

Time starts for the first one. Nathan makes it across to the other banana boat, but Alison doesn't, so she, Cam and Shaun fall into the water. Time is ticking as they swim back to the banana boat. Shaun has difficulty getting on the banana boat.
They try again and after 5 minutes they have succeeded and win $ 1,000!

Second try: they will go faster and the rope dragging the banana boats will be shorter.
They haven't even started switching places yet, when suddenly the boy's boat tips over and they all fall off.
After a while they only have 5 minutes left. Two people make it across, but yet again, the boy's boat tips over!
When they fall off, the boat has to stop and turn aroudn and they have to get back on, which costs 3 minutes.
Only a few seconds left and only Kris and Cam have to switch places... but somehow, it doesn't work out and they tip again! They miss out on the $ 3,000!

In the last pass, it goes even faster, but they can win $ 6,000! However, the contestants are getting tired...
The first four quickly swop places... but then Kris runs them into trouble. She steps over, but falls and has to swim towards the boat. Nathan jumps in the water and drags her back.

Cam:"Kris seemed to find it a bit difficult. Whenever she fell she almost had a lot of trouble getting back to the boat. So Nathan had to drag her back."
Nathan:"I was quite happy to drag her back, because it saved us time. I don't know if she can swim or not, but she didn't seem to be trying much."
Alison:"Nathan was trying really hard to get Kris on to the boats. I don't know if she just physically couldn't get back on it, because I found it really hard!"

Nathan drags Kris towards the boat and they try to get her back up. They have about 3 minutes left and the boat with Cam and Nathan tips over and they lose time getting back on the boat.
A while later only Shaun needs to get across... and he makes it! But then Alison loses her balance and falls off! All of them have to be on the boat before the ten minutes are up. They have 8 seconds left and Alison quickly swims back and gets back on the boat with 2 seconds to spare!
They won $ 7,000 in this challenge.

That night during dinner, the host discusses the game with them.
Host:"How do you think you will feel when you find out who The Mole is?"
Cam:"It's a game and he's got to do his job."
Nathan:"Relieved."
Host:"Kris, how do you rate your chances of being there when we find out who The Mole is."
Kris:"I hope to be there, because I'm pretty sure I know who The Mole is."
Host:"Who is The Mole?"
Kris:"I'm not going to tell you!"
Host:"Are you The Mole?"
Kris:"No, I'm not The Mole. But I know who The Mole is!"
Host:"Petrina, do you think you'll be there in the end?"
Petrina:"Yeah."
Host:"Why?"
Petrina:"Because I think I'm on the right track."
Host:"As opposed to last time you were on the right track?"
Everyone laughs.
Petrina:"Maybe."
Host:"Cam, you've taken two swings at the ball yourself. Is that shaken your confidence?"
Cam:"No I fixed the problem. Rectified the situation and gave a second try to it."
Host:"Are you the Mole?"
Cam:"I am the Mole!"
Host:"Shaun?"
Shaun:"Mate, I will be there!"
Host:"How do you know?"
Shaun:"Just a feeling in the back of my head." (everyone laughs)
Host:"You already earned $ 7,000 for the kitty today. How about another $ 5,000? Somebody can have an exemption. A pass to the next episode. And the group can get $ 5,000 in the kitty. You will all, as a group vote for one person unanimously who can get the exemption. If you do so, you will get $ 5,000. You get 5 minutes."

The contestants immediately discuss it. Alison wants to go for it:"What have we got to lose, someone gets exempt and we get $ 5,000. Can't we draw straws or something."
Kris:"No I don't think that's fair because these guys (pointing at Cam and Petrina) have had a second go already. I don't think you should get an exemption."
Cam doesn't seem to want the exemption go past.
Nathan:"If we all agree that the four of us draw straws, then it's a unanimous vote. Can you agree with that system."
Cam:"Nope."
Alison:"We're not going to get an agreement on this so let's just all draw straws with the six of us."
Cam:"I will draw straws with six, I'm not agreeing on drawing straws with four."
Alison:"Then let's just do that."
The host reminds them they only have 30 seconds left to decide.
Alison:"Cam is not going to change his mind... so..."
Host:"Twenty seconds."
Alison:"Ok, me! Alison!"
Shaun:"Yeah why not me, Shaun..."
They can't make a decision and don't get their $ 5,000. No one has an exemption either.

They have to do another assignment for which they have to select the two strongest swimmers amongst them:

Nathan and Cam. They will be in the swimming pool wearing scuba diving gear.
They also have to select two movie buffs, who will be in a made-up cemetary, digging up graves of actors:

Shaun and Petrina.

So Kris and Alison are the other duo.
The group will be playing under-water charades. Cam and Nathan have to act out the title of 6 movies or tv shows under water towards the camera. Kris and Alison have to guess which movie that is and have to transfer the answer to Petrina and Shaun who have to figure out which actor died in that movie and dig up the coffin. In one of the coffins is $ 10,000. If they have all correct coffins, they will definitely have the money. If they only have 5 of the 6, they will have a 5 in 6 chance, and so on. They get a total of 15 minutes to guess the movies and dig up the coffins.
Time starts...
Cam has the first one. He gestures that it's a tv show consisting of 2 words and the first word sounds like 'mouth'.
Alison guesses south, which is correct. Kris than correctly guesses that it is South Park. She quickly tells Petrina through walkie talkie, who dig up Kenny's grave.
Next one, a movie of two words.
Nathan is doing this one. He rubs his head.
Alsion:"Hair? Face?!"
He touches his jaw and tilts his head.
Kris:"Jaw? Shaky? Shiny?"
Alison:"Handsome?"
The guys let them know that it's something like handsome. The girls try to guess the word... Kris:"Beautiful?"
It's correct according to the guys, but it has to be shorter. Alison:"Beauty?"
Yes, that's correct! Alison:"Beauty and the Beast!!"
No, incorrect. Alison:"Sleeping Beauty?!"
Wrong... Kris:"Black Beauty!!"
Wrong again... They move on to the next one, which Cam does. It's a film with one word. He acts like he's falling down.
Alison:"Skydiving?" Kris:"Freefall?" Alison:"Falling?" Kris:"Moonwalk?" Alison:"Dropping?" Kris:"Spacewalk?"
He acts out the first syllable and they guess 'tie'. They still don't get it and the guys keep on acting like they're falling down. Eventually Alison guesses it's Titanic! Petrina and Shaun dig up Leonardo Dicaprio's grave now.

Third one. Film, three words, second word sounds like 'tie'. Eventually they correctly guess 'lie'. After a while they guess What Lies Beneath and Petrina knows they have to dig up Harrison Ford. They still have three graves to dig up and 7 minutes to do it in!

Next one. A movie of 4 words. The guys make claw movements. The girls first guess 'clawing' and 'snatching' and then Alison asks if they need to guess an animal., which is indeed so and they quickly guess 'tiger'. Kris:"Eye of the tiger!!!!" Wrong.
Alison then quickly guesses Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. Petrina is doubting which one it was, but Shaun doesn't know.

Petrina:"Shaun nominated himself as a movie buff and yet didn't seem to know a lot of the actors names on the headstones."

She doubts between Chow-Yun Fat or Chew Chang. They go for Chow-Yun Fat and dig that up. Still two more to go
Next one: film, two words. The guys act out a clam with something in it. Alison:"Pearl? Pearl Harbor!" Correct!
Petrina hasn't seen it so she doesn't know. Shaun:"I don't think Ben Affleck died..."

Petrina:"He blatantly said to me 'Ben Affleck doesn't die in that film, he pretends to die in the film.' and then he starts digging Ben Affleck's grave!"

Shaun digs up Ben Affleck's grave because he can't remember any othe actor in the movie.
Last one. It's the '.... Beauty' one they already had before, but they're still wasting time, trying to guess 'Beauty' again.
Kris:"Black Beauty!"
The guys don't know how to act out the first word...
Meanwhile, Shaun and Petrina find an empty grave. There's no coffin in Ben Affleck's grave, because he didn't die in that movie.

Nathan acts out a can of beer. Kris:"Beer? Can?"
Yes, it sounds like 'can'. But time's up!!
They go to the graveyard to find the 4 coffins they managed to dig up. The two divers then tell the movie-guessers that the last one was 'American Beauty'. Alison:"But you said it was two syllables!"
They still have 4 coffins though. They missed out on the American Beauty one and on Josh Hartnett's because he's the one who died in Pearl Harbor.
The host wants to make an offer. They could win $ 10,000 if it is in one of the coffins, but before opening them he suggests to give them $ 5,000. It's a gamble they can take. Since it's a 2 out of 3 chance, the group wants to go for it, even though Petrina reminds them of the previous gamble they took with the ball (they could get money if they gave up, but continued and thus lost money). They want to go for it.

South Park's Kenny's coffin is opened. There's a mummy in it, but no money. Next, Harrison Ford's is opened. No money there either! Kris:"We should have taken the $ 5,000!"
The host offers to give them $ 1,000 if they stop now, but they don't want it and so Chow-Yun Fat's coffin is opened. But there's no money in it either... Only one coffin is left... Leonardo Dicaprio's... which is empty too! They don't win any money!
The money wasn't in Kevin Spacey's coffin either (which was the movie they didn't guess). No, it turned out to be in Josh Hartnett's from Pearl Harbor!

Petrina:"Shaun said he knew who it was in Pearl Haror and yet he started digging up Ben Affleck while I was still digging up the one from Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. We had already decided that we would talk about it, decide to gether who it was and then start digging."
Shaun:"I had seen the movie, but I didn't think before I dug. That's where we went wrong."

Day 16 - New Caledonia
They have to get on a bus which will bring them to the next location, but before they go, the host reminds them about last night, when they were offered an exemption, but didn't agree on who should get it. That morning, he's got a different deal. They have to come to a majority decision to give someone a free pass or they will lose money out of the kitty! They lose $ 5,000 if they can't make a decision again! The ride takes 20 minutes and they have to make a decision when they arrive.
But before they leave, the host asks if they have their canisters with them. They all do, so they don't lose any money on that.

Both Petrina and Cam have gotten a second chance already. The contestants don't think either of them should get the exemption. But Cam then says that they earned $ 50,000 because he got back and Petrina cost the group money. The majority eventually decides to exclude Cam and Petrina from the draw. The rest puts their canisters together and Petrina will draw one out. The canisters have their names on it, so the person whose canister Petrina draws, will get the exemption. Nathan is the lucky winner!

Suddenly they notice police ahead who stops them for a routine alcohol control. Cam has to take the breath test to see if he hasn't drunk any alcohol. But he doesn't have his driving license with him, which is a problem for the police. The policemen tell the cameramen to stop filming, but the cameramen put down their cameras, but still leave it recording.
The car from the production crew has also been stopped and the police question the soudn recordist. No one has their ID with them and there are no papers in the cars, which is an offence in New Caledonia. After a while, things get even worse! The police take everyone to the police station!

Of course, this is all a set-up! The contestants don't realize it yet though! They are taken into the police van and driven to the police station, where they will be questioned one by one. This is their next assignment and the police is in it.
In the waiting room, Petrina tells the others what they should say (because the police speaks French):"Mon passport est à l'hôtel." My passport is at the hotel.
She then is taken to an office to be interrogated.

Officer:"Bonjour, asseyez-vous. Parlez-vous français?"
Petrina:"Uh.. no... English."
The officer asks her all kinds of questions such as how long she's been here, where she was before coming there, how many people are with her,... He then asks about the canister around her arm. This is the test! They are told to keep the canisters on them and not to open it. But will they do it when the police asks them about the canisters? They'll each be invited to open the canister, but not ordered to do so... will they do it?
Petrina:"We're not allowed to open it and we have to keep it on us at all times. They will take money from us if we open it."
She doesn't open it and has passed the test. She is taken back to the police van, apart from the others.

Now it's Shaun's turn. When the police asks him if he wants to open the canister, he tells him it's safe. "Here, you can open it!"
The officer instructed not to open the canister himself. He tells Shaun they will keep the canister and he has to wait in the waiting room. Shaun:"No, that canister can't leave me!" He doesn't want the canister to be taken away for testing and they almost get into an arguement. Later we'll see why he was so desperately trying not to let it tested.

Cam is a fire fighter and he shows his tags from the fire brigade to the officer, but it doesn't impress the man.
The officer asks about the canister. Cam tells him about it and then says:"I can open it for you if you like."
Officer:"Have you opened it before?"
Cam:"I haven't."
Officer:"Would you open it?"
Cam:"Yeah sure..."
Cam opens the canister and loses the group $ 1,000... there's a piece of paper in the canister.

Alison is also asked about the canister.
Officer:"Can we take this to the laboratory for testing?"
Alison:"Why?"
Officer:"To see what's in it."
Alison:"Well open it then... You can open it now and have a look"
Officer:"No..."
Alison:"I'll open it for you!"
She takes the canister but then changes her mind and doesn't open it!

Kris doesn't want to ever open her canister! There's just no question!
Officer:"But I'm a police officer!"
Kris:"I know you are a police officer, but I just can't!"
She too is taken to the police van with the rest and asks them if they wantd them to open the canister too. They all say yes and Alison tells her Cam opened his. Kris:"What was in it?" Cam:"Nothing much."

Nathan is the last one.
Officer:"Could you open it?"
Nathan:"No, because we could get in trouble!"
Officer:"Can you give it to me?"
Nathan:"Ok, can you promise not to open it?"
He gives it to the officer and is taken to the others.
What's amazing is that still none of them realized that all this is a hoax, a set-up!
The canister have been sent to a lab for testing. It has photographic paper in it. If the canister has been opened, the paper will turn black after processing it. We know that Cam has opened his canister, but another one has been opened too!
They are handcuffed and driven back to the hotel, where they finally foudn out it was a set-up!

Petrina:"Grant (the host) was standing there, waiting for us and it became apparent that we had been set up. I was just like... what are you guys doing?!!"

The host asks them to show the canisters, but the police has them, which they explain. Their assignment was to survive two days without opening the canister. Cam opened his in front of the police, which cost them $ 1,000, but he isn't the only one. The host frees everyone from their handcuffs. Everyone, except Cam... and Shaun. They both opened their canisters!
The host asks Cam why he opened his.
Cam:"I was asked to. And I was trying to get us out of here and use the telephone, so I opened the canister."
Host:"You were asked or invited?"
Cam:"I was asked..."
Host:"Shaun, why did you open it?"
Shaun:"I was told not to, so I did!" (everyone laughs)

Kris:"I can't believe they did it. They were told not to. So... we're not making any money at all. The kitty s totally pathetic."
Shaun:"I opened mine as soon as we got it. When I'm told not to do something I will do it."

They cost the group $ 2,000. But they also win $ 5,000 for giving the exemption to Nathan. They now have $ 66,000.

Suspicions
Alison:"I think Kris is The Mole and I think that Cam is trying to look like The Mole."
Kris:"At this stage I still have Alison on my list. Definitely concerned about Cam opening his canister. It was hammered into us not to."
Shaun:"I really think Kris is The Mole still. On the banana boats she was on the thing and just let go. She just gave up. So that's my main suspect for today."
Petrina:"Between Shaun and Cam... it could be Shaun because when we were asked aout the movie buffs, Shaun went 'Oh yeah me!'. I don't know, he lives in a town where there isn't even a cinema and that could be very convenient for him not to know much about it."

Cam:"I'm not terribly confident tonight I must say..."
Nathan:"I've got the exemption because I got drawn out of a hat."
Alison:"I'm kind of sick of playing it safe. I'm sick of choosing a billion people and hoping I will stay because one of the people I've chosen is the right one. I just want to figure it all out, you know?"
Kris:"It's a really really exciting moment and I'm so onto the Mole I can't tell you... I hope... I'm sure I am!"

While everyone else is thinking about the elimination... Shaun has something else on his mind.

Shaun:"I found a document (shows the letter) regarding activities that we were supposed to do. It pretty much describes who The Mole is. I actually feel like I've violated the game..."

Shaun found the letter in the police van. It appears to be a message from the producers to The Mole. If it's real, Shaun knows who The Mole is. If it's fake... Shaun's been conned!

Shaun:"If it was a hoax, it wouldn't look like this... there are marks from people's pants on it and the paper is too old... it's a couple of days old... If I go tonight, I feel it's because of this note."

Suspicious in this episode
Kris falls off the banana boat several times and just like Shaun, she has a difficulty to get back on the boat.
Alison loses her balance in the end during the ride that could earn them the most money.
They couldn't agree on who to give the exemption and missed out on $ 5,000.
Kris and Alison couldn't guess American Beauty. Or did Nathan and Cam act it out poorly?
Shaun volunteered to be the movie buff, but didn't seem to know many of the actors and even dug up the wrong grave!
When the host offers them $ 5,000 before opening the coffins, Petrina wants to go for it, but the rest doesn't.
Cam and Shaun opened their canisters, costing the group $ 2,000

Nathan has an exemption and won't be going tonight... Who will?
