Australian Mole 4
The Mole: In Paradise
Episode 4

Cam got eliminated last time, but the host had a special offer for the
group. They could have Cam back and earn $50,000 if they brought him back
into the game. This will be an advantage for Cam, because he knows at
least one person who's not The Mole. All contestants can vote separately in
their confession camera whether they would like him back or not. If just one
contestant votes yes, he will be back and they will get $50,000.
After the elimination, the group debates the offer.
CC
Josh:"I don't want to let him come back, because I don't see an
upside to it for me. I'm not confident about who The Mole is."
Six contestants don't want to bring him back... but for one of
them the $50,000 is too much money to pass up.
CC
Kris"Bring
Cam back..."
Day 6
The previous night, Cam was taken to a hotel. He would take the
plane home the next morning. He's secretly filmed as he's picked up by a driver.
He thinks he's going home, but in fact, he isn't. He's taken to the place of the
first challenge, where the host awaits him. He explains him the offer and the
fact that some of them took it.
CC
Cam:"I was arisen from the dead! Lazarus was back! It took a
while to comprehend it, because there is no coming back... but... sometimes they
come back."
The vote to bring Cam back was secret, so only Kris
knows they'll see him back. There's only one question on their minds: Could Cam
be The Mole?
CC
Josh:"If Cam was The Mole and he got himself eliminated and
would bring him back, it would basically remove him from any form of suspicions
for the rest of the game. That would be a good strategy."
Shaun:"The Mole's not going anywhere so if he's The Mole, he
will be back."
Alison:"If Cam's back I would think he's probably The Mole.
If h's not the Mole, he's dishonest... so either way... I don't think he'll be
getting along with many people."
The other contestants arrive at the place of the challenge too
(a big square with big containers). Host:"Alright, now that you're all
here, I have an assignment for you. Come to think of it... we're not quite all
here, are we?"
He turns around and gets Cam. The group is shocked and no one says a
word. The host tells Cam to join the group. No one seems to be glad to
have him back, even though they now have $86,000.
CC
Nathan:"He just looked like he wasn't on our side. You can't
really trust anyone in this group."
Josh:"I was damn disappointed, because I didn't want him
back."
Cam:"I didn't have any mates at all, nobody was happy to see
me. I expected a group hug, but I got a wall of... nothing."
They now have to choose four people who like to drive. They have
to play a real life grid lock game (where they have to move cars, to get a
central car out of the square.
The drivers are:

Alison, Nikki, Josh and Shaun.
The navigators:

Kris, Nathan, Petrina and Cam.
The navigators see the car lot from atop on a tv screen and can
tell the drivers which cars to move into which direction. Each of the navigators
are paired with one of the drivers. Each car can only move forward and
backwards. They get one hour to free the car and win $5,000 if they succeed.
Time starts and Petrina tries to figure out the puzzle first. They clear
the exit already. It's an easy puzzle. It only takes 9 moves to get the red car
out of the grid. They don't know yet, that after this, there will be a much
harder puzzle.
Petrina solves the puzzle and they can get the car out in less than 12
minutes. The navigators are suspicious. They got an hour to do it and it's over
already. They think there's a catch. The host tells them they just won $5,000.
They are now full of confidence. The trap has been set. A much harder puzzle is
prepared and they can play it again and double their $5,000 or lose it. So they
can bet. They are so confident about it that they go for it. The puzzle is twice
as difficult as the first one. It can be solved in 17 moves.
They quickly get stuck and the four drivers are getting impatient. They have
been moving cars back and forward and getting nowhere. After 40 minutes, Josh
(one of the drivers) asks if he can take over. Kris says he can, but the
other navigators don't really like this. Nathan:"They have to
listen to our instructions." Cam:"We're not working
together at all."
All drivers are moving cars and the navigators can hardly follow it. They
are just moving cars without a plan. After a while there's only one car left
blocking the exit! But time's up... They lack team work and blew $10,000.
CC
Kris:"It was an absolute pathetic attempt. Pathetic. All of us,
I don't blame anyone, I don't think there was any sabotage."
Josh:"Sabotage? Maybe. Stupidity? Yep! Egos? Yep!"
Nathan:"There was not any teamwork and everyone was out to
prove themselves right instead of thinking about the task. That's how we came
undone."
Day 7
That morning, Josh is taken hostage.
CC
Josh:"I was led away by the host to a heli pad and I thought
well at least I'll be going in a helicopter somewhere, that'll be fun. But then
I got a blindfold... I didn't even get to see where I'm going."
He is taken to a lighthouse on an island. It's a 10 minute
flight from the hotel. His team mates will have to find him. Josh is
taken up into the lighthouse and doesn't know where he is.
CC
Josh:"I could tell I was going on a spiral staircase going up
and up."
He can take his blindfold off and gets a cell phone. His friends
meanwhile have breakfast and do'nt even know yet that Josh is missing. The host
tells them and selects three people who have to find him:

Kris, Petrina and Cam.
They will have to earn clues, which will come as pictures on a tv screen. Only
if they see all pictures, they will see exactly where he is. The host can call Josh
and they can ask him yes-or-no questions about his location. Each time Josh
answers yes, a picture on the screen is revealed. For each no-answer they will
lose 2 minutes from their 60 minute time.
Time starts and they think of a question to ask. Petrina suggests to ask
him if he knows where he is. But Cam says:"Well of he course he
knows where he is." and they don't ask that.
Their first question:"Are you on one of the islands?"
The host calls Josh and asks him. The answer is yes, which gives them
their first picture clue: a piece of the doorway that goes into the lighthouse.
Petrina suggests "Are you in a hotel?" The answer is
no... minus 2 minutes.
Kris:"Can he see water from where he is?" Yes he can.
They get a picture of a palm tree.
Because they have an outdoor and an indoor picture, Cam suggests to ask
if he's indoor. He is and they get a picture of the spiral staircase, but they
can't really figure out what it's supposed to be.
Petrina suggests to ask if he went by boat to where he is. Cam:"Or
by helicopter." The host wants to know which one he needs to ask. Petrina:"If
he's on an island, it's probably by boat." Cam gives in, so the
host asks about the boat. It's a no answer, so they lose 2 minutes again. They
then ask if he went there by helicopter, which is yes. They see a picture of a
white wall with a black rectangle, which is a window from the lighthouse.
Kris:"Let's ask Josh if he's in a lighthouse!" He is!
They see a picture of the door of the top room of the lighthouse Josh is
in. They cheer, because they know he's in the lighthouse!
Petrina:"Let's go then! If he's in a lighthouse, why don't we go
to the lighthouse?"
Kris:"But where is the lighthouse?"
Petrina asks the host what form of transportation they get and he
says it's a helicopter. Petrina:"Well then let's go to the
helicopter and say..." Cam:"Takes us to the
lighthouse!" Petrina:"Yeah, I mean how many lighthouses
can there be on this little island?"
They run to the helicopter, which takes 4 minutes. The flight
itself will take 10 minutes. They wtill have 48 minutes left. So they could make
it in tim. But there's a problem... When they tell the helicopter pilot "Take
us to the lighthouse!" he asks:"Which on?"
Kris wants to go to the nearest lighthouse. Petrina doubts
whether that's a good idea. Cam wants to run back to get more clues. Kris:"Wait,
hang on, let's decide on it first. We can back and lose time or we can go up the
helicopter, look around for lighthouses and look for the big palm tree we saw on
the picture." Petrina:"But take a look around where we
are... there's palm trees everywhere!" Kris:"But we
could try." Petrina:"We're wasting time now, what do we
do?"
They vote for it. Kris wants to go in the helicopter, but Cam
and Petrina want to go back, so they run 4 minutes back to the hotel. On
their way they think of questions they could ask. They have 39 minutes left when
they arrive back at the room and ask if Josh can see a hotel. No... minus
2 minutes. Kris:"Ask him if he can put an arm outside any window
and wave when we fly over?" No... 2 minutes off. Cam:"Can
he see a sign from where he is?" No...
They've got 32 minutes left. Cam:"Is there any other structure on
the island?" Yes there are! They get another detail picture of the
staircase.
Petrina:"We only get pictures from inside the lighthouse. I don't
think it matters. I think we need the name, or something." Kris:"But
how are we going to get a name with only yes-or-no questions to ask."
Cam:"Did it take him longer than 10 minutes to get to the
lighthouse?" Josh answers yes. Another picture of the staircase.
So now that they know it's more than 10 minutes away, they go back to the
helicopter and tell the pilot that. In the elevator, Petrina thinks they
need a name, but the other two don't know how to get that name. They run to the
helicopter and waste 4 minutes again. They only have 23 minutes left. The pilot
indeed does need a name. They start discussing again what to do and then Kris
loses her cool and starts yelling:"We got to go look for the brown door,
Petrina will you listen?!!!!" This outburst sends Petrina into
the helicopter immediately whilst Kris throws her bag in the helicopter.
CC
Kris:"The three of us were standing there being so indecisive.
Petrina was thinking about it logically, going 'I think we should go back. I
think we need more clues.' I said we had to go in the helicopter and fly around
searching and Cam wanted to go back."
They ask the pilot to go up in the air and fly around, but he
tells them he can't take them anywhere without a name. So they get out of the
helicopter and run back to the hotel all over again! They have 21 minutes left
and Cam has finally figured out how to play this game! All they need is
'yes'-answers so they should ask question which only will be answered with a
yes.
Cam:"Ask him if the sun's in the sky!" Josh looks
puzzled but answers yes. They see a picture taken from two narrow windows in the
lighthouse.
Cam"Ask him if the sky is blue!" Yes it is Another
picture!
CC
Cam:"At this point I had lightbulbs going off and all we needed
was yes questions, so we could get more clues."
"Does the water look wet from where you're
standing?" It does and they get their last picture: a piece of a map
with the lighthouse on it and the name: Phare Amédée. (more info of that
lighthouse can be found here)
They run back to the helicopter again and fly to that lighthouse. They have 12
minutes left. All three of them have to be with Josh before time runs
out. But that means they all have to go up the high staircase of 249 steps! They
have 2 and a half minutes when they arrive at the lighthouse to go up the stairs
to Josh. Cam runs up, Petrina passes Kris on the
stairs.
CC
Kris:"Cam's a fireman, he's used to this! But we had 249 steps
to the top of the lighthouse! I was having an asthma attack on the 50th step and
I don't een have asthma!"
Cam arrives at Josh first. The girls have one
minute left. Petrina makes it with 15 seconds to spare. Cam calls
the host to tell him everyone has arrived. Buttime's up when Kris
arrives. So they lost out on $5,000. They wasted too much time with the running
around and the no-answers.
CC
Petrina:"I'm no to Kris, big time. She's my number one. She's
always slow and has a perfect excuse. She's so likeable, knows a lot about the
game and she knows what it requires to be The Mole."
The other four had the day off, but now also have to do a
challenge. They need to select 2 culture people:

Alison and Nathan are taken to a cultural museum and get a tour.
They have to remember all the information, because they will get one question
afterwards. But while they're doing the tour, Shaun and Nikki will
be following them, because they're doing an assignment on their own: predicting
what Alison and Nathan will do in certain circumstances. If they
predict correctly, they win $1,000, but of they're wrong $1,000 is taken from
them.
Alison and Nathan are still on their way to the museum. Their
driver stops at a store and gets out. Two girl guides will approach the car and
ask for a donation. Shaun and Nikki follow it all live on screen.
They have to predict whether they will give money. Nikki says Nathan
always has a lot change. But Shaun thinks they won't give any money. So Nikki
follows him on that and they predict no.
The girls walk up to the car and ask for money. Nathan opens his bag and
gives them some money. They lose $1,000 from the kitty.
Alison and Nathan arrive at the museum. Their
guide is waiting. Nathan shakes her hand and tells his name. Alison
also shakes her hand, says "Bonjour!" and her name. The guide
tells them a lot of historical culture things. Nikki and Shaun
secretly arrive at the museum too for the next prediction. They will find a
wallet. Will they pick it up and hand it in or not? They think they will.
Nathan and Alison arrive at the place where the wallet is lying
and both of them notice it. Nathan picks it up and hands it in. They win
$1,000 and are back to zero. Meanwhile, Nathan and Alison try to
remember every single detail the guide tells them. About the plant and
everything. A little further, they will sit down on a bench. someone will walk
by and throw an empty bottle to the garbage bin, but will miss and the bottle
will fall on the ground. Will they pick it up and throw it in the garbage or
not? Nikki and Shaun think they will.
The two sit down on the bench and a guy arrives with the empty bottle. He throws
it and it falls on the ground. Alison sees it and watches the bottle. She
then looks back at the man, who has passed them. Nikki is scared she
won't pick it up, but then sighs relieved, when Alison stands up and
walks to the bottle. But then suddenly, halfway, Alison turns around and
sits back on the bench again!!
CC
Nikki:"Ali looks at the bottle and goes to get it up and then
she doesn't! And I'm like... come on Ali, it's rubbish!!! Pick it up and put it
in the bin! And I thought 'What has she done?!' "
However, the two are still sitting on the bench. The guided tour
continues, so they stand up again. Alison takes another long look at the
bottle... but then turns around and walks away. Nikki and Shaun
are amazed about it. It was so close two times! They are $1,000 down and have
one chance to redeem themselves. A stranger will talk to them in French. Will
either of them speak any French in return?
Their guide has been called away and the stranger will arrive soon. Nikki
and Shaun think they will answer in English. Shaun:"They
may say something like bonjour or something like that, but other than that
English."
They have predicted that Alison or Nathan will speak at least
some French words to the stranger. The man arrives and starts talking in French
about the lost wallet. Alison:"English? I don't understand
French." Nathan:"Wallet?" Alsion:"Ah
wallet? Euhm... do you have a... for money? Reception."
They don't say one French word. Nikki and Shaun failed on
three of the four predictions and lose the group $2,000.
Nathan and Alison arrive back with the other two and are told
about the challenge they did. They can still win $5,000 if they can answer one
question about the tour. What was the guide's name? They both immediately answer
it's May. They had prepared themselves for that, because they expected it. So
they win $5,000. They now have $89,000.
Suspicions
Alison:"Kris is looking more Mole-like every day. She just seems to
be sneaky. Something always seems to go wrong aroudn her. Josh I think is
absolutely capable of being The Mole, but I don't know if The Mole would be as
obvious as him."
Cam:"Petrina is a time waster. Everything always takes time
with Petrina. Josh is sort of sabotaging from the other side. Kris argues a bit,
which takes time, so that's probably where most of my suspicions lie."
Kris:"There's been Mole activity when Josh has been around
and there's been Mole activity when Alison's been around. I think if anyone
could be The Mole it would be Josh, because he's so cunning and so clever. It's
elimination time and everyone's very stressed. There's lots of drama: Cam has
come back and the whole game has changed because people were not happy to see
Cam back."
Cam:"I'm back in the game and... eh no one wants me to be
here."
Alison:"The whole Cam thing, my god! Freaked me out. He
didn't look human. He looked strange and evil!"
Cam:"I'm at a mental breakdown. I'm on the edge and they
might push me over in a second."
Petrina:"If I go home tonight, I will be disappointed and
I'll be glad. Glad that I made it this far and knew that I gave it everything I
had."
Josh:"Elimination tonight! Who knows who's going. I'm pretty
sure Cam's not the Mole since he got eliminated, even though I did suspect him
up until then."
Suspicious in this episode
Why did Kris let Cam come
back?
Josh wanted to take over in the gridlock game, even though he was
supposed to listen to the instructions of the other team.
Cam, Petrina and Kris lost several minutes with the
no-answers and also for running back and forth to the helicopter three times
without having the name of the lighthouse!
Kris wasted a lot of time in the stairs in the lighthouse, losing the
challenge.
Nikki and Shaun predicted three situations out of the four
incorrectly and lost $2,000.
Alison said 'Bonjour' when meeting the tour guide, but when the stranger
talked to them in French and Nikki and Shaun had predicted they
would speak at least one or two words of French, she didn't talk French at all
anymore.
Nikki and Shaun had predicted the other two would pick the bottle
up. Alison stands up, walks towards it, but then turns back again, even
though she usually does clean rubbish.
Elimination
