Australian Mole 4
The Mole: In Paradise
Episode 3

Greg had most questions wrong on the questionnaire (which by the way only has 6
questions this season). He got eliminated and was sent home.
Day 4 - New Caledonia
It's 6:30 in the morning and the contestants are still asleep,
but the host wakes them up. They are told to go to the foyer of the hotel with
their bags packed, because they have a helicopter to catch. Only six of the
eight contestants are woken up though. Two girls can sleep in a bit longer:

Nikki and Petrina will have an assignment on their own. They get
room service and with it comes an iPack. On it is a video of the host who tells
them they get the chance to get their luggage back. To get it back, they will
have to remove the same amount of luggage from the boys as they removed from the
girls two episodes ago. They unpacked 27 kilos, so now Nikki and Petrina
have to unpack 27 kilos from the guys' luggage.
The others don't know anything of this and are in the helicopter
on their way to the next challenge where they might win $60,000! They have to
team up in pairs. One will be in the helicopter, guiding the pilot where to fly
to, the other will be hanging under the helicopter trying to hit a target that's
being pulled by a speedboat!
Every time they hit the bullseye, they get $20,000. They're allowed to drop the
bomb on the target three times. The first one's for free, but the second try
costs $1,000 and the third one costs $2,000.
Josh, Alison and Cam will be the ones hanging from the
helicopter trying to hit the target with the bomb. They are geared up and get
safety instructions.
CC
Josh:"I don't know who dreams up with these crazy challenges,
but there's some nutter out there. The first thing I thought was 'This just
can't be done.'"
Alison:"My eyes were watering and I don't know why, but I was
trying to concentrate. And they started saying that if I would start spinning
around, I had to move my arms out so I don't hit the propellers! That freaked me
out!"
The first pair starts off:

CC
Josh:"To be slung from a helicopter, chasing a target that's
being towed from a boat and having someone in the helicopter getting you in
position and then trying to pull a flour bomb out of your pouch and bomb the
moving target.. it just sounds insane!"
Every time Shaun tells the pilot to go left or right, it
starts moving Josh around, swinging from side to side, 40 meters above
the water. The helicopter flies over the target, but Josh still doesn't
throw the bomb. Eventually he drops it, but misses the target. That bomb was for
free... the next one costs $1,000.
They try again and he hits the middle of the target, right in the bullseye!!
They win $20,000 for it, but the second bomb cost $1,000, so they have $19,000
now.
CC
Cam:"Whether or not that was an accident, who knows, but I was
very surprise he hit it. Especially because he hit it so well."
Next:

Alison is quite scared for this. Nathan is making the helicopter
move left and right, which makes Alison swing around like a tea bag!
CC
Alison:"Nathan was above. At first we must have been turning
really fast. I saw the propellers, which was freaking me out, so I was trying
look at where we were flying."
She swinging so much left and right that, when they reach the
target, she misses it with the bomb.
CC
Shaun:"The way Alison was getting thrown around was scary!
There's a possibility Nathan could be The Mole in that."
Alison's second bomb will cost the team $1,000 from the
kitty. She misses again and now tries her last bomb, that costs $2,000, but she
misses by several meters. They lost $3,000.
CC
Kris:"When she was throwing the bags of flour they were so far
off target. Each one seem to have been thrown way too late!"
The last pair still have the chance to put another $20,000 into
the kitty:

Kris (in the heli) and Cam (hanging under the helicopter).
CC
Josh:"I sensed that, just before she left, Kris wasn't feeling
part of the team, because Cam hadn't been giving her instructions at all."
Kris:"We had our training and were assigned our partners and
never once during the whole assignment did Cam approach me or speak to me."
They start off badly. Kris is making the helicopter go
left and right and left again, swinging Cam around.
CC
Cam:"I was all over the place right from the start. I couldn't
face the right direction, because I was being pulled back half
the time. When I approached the target I wasn't hanging right. Just when I was
above the target I was hanging with my back turned towards it. I dropped
my bomb and was just a bit too late."
So the first bomb is a miss. Next one's $1,000, but Cam
and Kris aren't working as a team.
CC
Shaun:"Cam had a very rough ride, he couldn't straighten up for
some reason, so whether or not he was intentionally not trying to steer himself,
I don't know."
Kris:"I couldn't see Cam. I ws trying to see under the nose
of the helicopter and I could see the target. I was saying left, left, right and
I felt in my heart that it was straight in front of him."
But Cam still spinning and swinging aroud and misses by
meters. The last one costs them $2,000. Again he's turning into all directions
and he misses again. The group loses another $3,000 and they win $13,000 instead
of the $60,000 that was up for grabs.
CC
Kris:"I don't feel there was a team between him and me. It was
pretty straight forward what we had to do, but a bit of communication from Cam
would have been nice. There was mole activity definitely. I'm still concerned
with Cam and how he monopolizes challenges when we're going to do them."
The group returns and Nikki and Petrina have to tell what they did today. The girls like it of course. The guys are a bit puzzled when they find out they have lost luggage. Nikki and Petrina found a blue silky scarf in Nathan's bag and tease him with it. Nikki can't find any underwear in Cam's bag. It turns out he never wears any! The girls have their stuff back, but don't win any money with it.
The guys will be getting their stuff back soon, but they don't
know it yet. Their clothes are now at the bottom of the ocean in a net. The
group splits up. The boys go in an old taxi boat, while the girls go on a luxury
catamaran. Each boat goes into a different direction. The guys have to go
diving, using old diving helmets. The host reveals (via walki talki) what they
have to dive up: their clothes, which are in a net attached to a buoy. They have
to get fully dressed under water. The girls will also be doing a challenge and
the combined total of time they get is 40 minutes.
Time starts. The guys have to wear old heavy steel diving helmets to go under
water and get changed.
CC
Cam:"They probably weigh about 100 kilo! It has a screen in
front of your face, so you can't scratch your face or anything like that."
The girls are somewhere else at sea. They have to make a jigsaw
puzzle. There are 24 pieces of the puzzle attached to ropes under the water.
Twelve pieces are correct, the other twelve are wrong. For every wrong piece
they dive up, they lose one minute. The boys' time will be added to their time
and if the added times are under 40 minutes, they win $5,000.
Nikki
is the diver. They need communication. The picture of the jigsaw is a picture of
themselves. For every correct piece, there's a piece that won't fit and that
will cost them one minute. So they have to tell Nikki which pieces to
dive up. After 3 minutes, they already have a wrong piece. Rather than thinking
about what pieces they need, no one tells Nikki which pieces she has to
bring up, so she is pulling every piece she can find.
CC
Petrina:"Nikki could see under water. I was telling her what we
needed and she did pull up a few pieces we didn't need. She even pulled up two
of me at the same time. She took two pictures of me out of the water at the same
time and of course we wouldn't need both of them. Maybe she was trying to bring
up all pieces so we would lose time."
They already have three minutes of penalty time. The girls don't
know what the guys are doing and vice versa.
The guys are getting dressed under water. We see someone's bare behind, which
must be from Cam seeing that he doesn't wear underwear. They already
doing the challenge for more than 23 minutes.
The girls are quicker, but they already have 5 wrong pieces,
costing 5 minutes. Kris tries to assemble the jigsaw and is doing well.
CC
Alison:"Kris, who I've been suspicious about. She was putting
everything together very quickly. I was surprised to come back with a puzzle and
see it was already put together. That's probably the first task she did
properly."
They have finished the puzzle! But how much time did it take?
And the boys are still doing their part of the assignment. They get back on
board, completely wet. It's taken them 25 minutes. They go to the girls. They
did 8 minutes for the puzzle, but took 6 wrong pieces out of the water, costing
6 minutes. Together with the boys' time they took 39 minutes! Just one minute
under the 40 limit. They win $5,000, but just barely. The six wrong pieces of
puzzle brought them dangerously close to failing the assignment.
CC
Alison:"Nikki was pulling a lot of the same things out, but as
soon as I told her, she did her best to try to pass the challenge."
Nikki:"I was like 'Look do you need this.' and they were
going 'Yeah yeah yeah just give it to me.' so I was just diving and I didn't
know what pieces I brought up."
Petrina:"Nikki is the Mole, she deserves an oscar! I think
she totally has us all fooled!"
Day 5
At breakfast they find digital cameras on the table. They have to
split in three groups. Each group must record three things. When they have
completed one thing, they have call the host, who will then give another one. If
they record 8 out of the 9 correctly, they will win $10,000. For each thing they
fail to capture, from 8 down, it will cost $1,000 from the kitty. Their first
task is to take a picture of themselves with a group of 10 strangers. All of
them have to look directly into the camera. The groups are taken to three
different locations to do their assignment.

Petrina and Cam are one pair. They go into a restaurant where Petrina
asks:"Est-ce que je peux prendre une photo de vous pour la
télévision?" they agree. They also find someone who wants to make the
picture. They count it. They indeed have 10 people and the two of them.

Nikki, Shaun and Josh also find a group which is wlling to
pose with them. Underaged kids don't count, so they ask if the kid can step
aside. Their photo is quickly taken too.

Nathan, Alison and Kris go to a pub and quickly find enough
people too.
All groups have 30 minutes to complete all 9 photos. It should be plenty of
time, as long as they don't make mistakes.
Someone take a photo of the group of ten plus the thre contestants. But when
they count it over again, Alison sees they only have 9 strangers. Nathan
suggests to first do the other two pictures and then do this one last, but the
girls don't want that, because they already have a group of people aroudn them
there. They quickly ask to pose again.
When a group has taken a photo, they have to call the host for
their next assignment. Petrina calls him. They have to make a photo of
the two of them standing next to each other wearing each other's clothes! All
clothes, except for underwear. Nikki calls in and she has to do the same
with Josh. They all laugh.
Cam and Petrina get into a restaurant to the toilets to exchange
clothes. Luckily, Cam is wearing underwear today! They exchange clothes
and ask someone to take a picture.
So are Nikki and Josh in the park. Josh is sweaty and Nikki
tells him he won't let him put on her shirt with all that sweat. So he cleans
off a little first. Josh then takes a picture of them.

Alison, Nathan and Kris redo their first photo. They are four minutes behind the others and Nathan calls for the next assignment. He and Alison have to exchange clothes. They run to a place to get changed (somewhere behind a wall) but then Nathan realizes he has forgotten his backpack and runs back to get it.
Petrina meanwhile calls the host for their next task.
They have to record a 15 second video of a local singing the chorus of the
Australian song Waltzing Matilda. Shaun also hears this when he calls the
host.
Petrina and Cam are teaching a guy the song, but they don't know
the lyrics anymore. Eventually they do and they record the man singing it.
The other group also finds someone to sing it.
Nathan and Alison are exchanging clothes and
racing the clock. Kris takes a picture of them and then next they have to
record someone singing the song. Kris finds someone and teaches her.
The other groups have made it back on time, but Alison, Kris and Nathan
are still not there. They one minute left, but make it just in time. Nathan
forgetting his backpack and Alison blocking someone's face in the first
picture almost lost them the assignment!
Time to check the chips with the pictures. First up: Kris, Nathan
and Alison.
They have a photo of ten strangers and them two.
They have a picture of Nathan and Alison in each others' clothes.
Lastly they watch the short video of Waltzing Matilda.
Next is group 2: Josh, Nikki and Shaun
They also have the photo with ten and themselves.
A photo of Josh and Nikki with each other's clothes.
And also a video of someone singing Waltzing Matilda.
It appears they have so far succeeded in six tasks. They only
need two more to win $10,000. Time to check the last chip from Petrina
and Cam:
The host checks it, but can't find anything. It is empty... The disk was
correctly formatted and ready for use. But there's nothing on it... Everyone is
shocked.
CC
Petrina:"When Grant was saying the disk was empty and there was
nothing there, I was looking at the screen in absolute disbelieve. I
looked at Cam and was just thinkin... what's going on?!"
Cam:"I don't know what happened... funny things happen in
this game. Petrina was with me the entire time until we arrived here. We checked
them again and everything was still on it and was fine."
Josh:"Cam would be an excellent Mole. He is a lot brighter
than he comes across. He has this 'I'm a fireman. Trust me.' kind of
nature."
Host:"I'm sorry, there's nothing I can do about that.
Three images have failed to come in. You had to get 8 out of 9. Currently, not
counting those three, it's 6 out of 9, which costs $2,000 out of the
kitty."
But he has somethign more to say... they watch back at Kris, Nathan
and Alison's recording of a girl singing Waltzing Matilda. She is under
18, which didn't count. So they lose another $1,000.
CC
Nathan:"Kris picked the person and she was under 18. I don't
know if she did it on purpose..."
So they lost $3,000 in this challenge. Mostly due to the blank
disk, because if Petrina and Cam's three pictures would have been
correct, they would still have 8 out of 9. They have $36,000 left in the kitty.
CC
Kris:"From what I gathered, Cam was left holding the camera.
Petrina twice went to the bathroom. There's only one thing you can think and
that's that Cam erased their assignment."
Suspicions
Alison:"I'm trying to do my best to choose who I think is the
most suspicious. But every day someone turns around and they trick me
twice."
Shaun:"I'm not happy with Cam and Petrina's efforts. But
that's the aim of the game, to sabotage."
Kris:"I have a strong gut feeling that Josh is The Mole, but
today after what Cam has done. Everyone is thinking is it Cam, isn't it
Cam?"
Nathan:"Kris is my target, but I think everyone is working on
different angles. I can't pick Cam as The Mole. I spent too much blokey time
with him."
Cam:"When I adjust my strategy at questionaire time, I'll get
in trouble. We'll see what happens. It's just want ot keep on going."
Alison:"Petrina didn't touch the camera for their tasks. Cam
said that Petrina didn't touch the camera and all of a sudden their work is
gone..."
Petrina:"I went to the toilet. The only time that Cam was
left alone with the camera. And then we had to hand our chip in."
Cam:"I hope I won't be eliminated... but we'll see how we
go."
Josh:"I know who The Mole is and everyone else is starting to
finding that Mole too. I don't know what my strategy will be to win this thing.
Frankly I'm too tired. I just want to go to bed."
Suspicious in this episode
Alison and Cam
couldn't hit the target and wasted $3,000 each.
Kris was making Cam shake around a lot on the helicopter.
Nikki took 6 wrong puzzle pieces out of the water, costing 6 valuable
minutes.
Cam goes commando, but conveniently has his underwear on when he and Petrina
have to change clothes.
Alison is blocking someone in the first picture, so they have to redo
that photo.
Nathan forgets his bag and loses precious time to go get it back.
Kris chose an underaged person to sing Waltzing Matilda. Neither Alison
nor Nathan commented about it.
Petrina and Cam's photo disk was empty.
Elimination
Everyone is shocked. Shaun even cries. But the host has
a surprise for the remaining contestants:
They can get this eliminated person back into the game! If they choose to do so,
they earn $50,000! If even just one of them votes to have the eliminated person
back, that person will come back and they will win the money. Find out if they
go for it next episode...
