| The researchers found that the most frequently used dilutant was lactated Ringer's solution. They found that there was no significance between the type of fluid used and the level of perinatal care provided. There was significance in that the 37 facilities (14%) that use D5W as a dilutant, that 2% of those use D5W as their mainline IV solution. "These 5 facilities were primarily in rural areas and had 1,500 deliveries or fewer per year." These facilities were also designated as Level I or Level II units. |
