The first time I ever went turkey hunting was the spring of 1999. I had a couple close calls, but no luck. ~ Naturally, I had a great time and will continue to hunt every spring and fall. ~ I hope to someday hunt in other states...

This spring (2000) was tough. There were more hens than anything and they didn't seem much interested at all. The toms were silent after flydown and never saw a single jake. We did have some exciting hunts and I've added those stories and pics.... Enjoy!
2001 - Yet another hobby that we didn't get to do this spring. We may skip this fall and just focus on deer, then try again next spring.

Huntin' Stories

I finally found a pic of Randy with his very first turkey.
Look at that smile!!! This was back in '95.
The entire hunt lasted 15 minutes on opening day. It actually took
him longer to walk to his spot than hunt. He took him at 17yds.
19#, 5 1/2" beard and nub spurs.

This is where my two close calls were.

This was the first (and only) dust bowl I saw.


Randy caught me off guard on my first time out. And, No, I wasn't sleeping! :)
