2001 Jasper County Fair - Ebby and I Our first show where we placed first in the Ride A Draft class. This was her first time away from home and she had less than a dozen rides on her.

2001 Iowa State Fair - Ebby and I This was our second show together and we placed fifth. She did okay for a greenie against the three english riders that placed in the top three spots. This was also a pleasure class that required loping and we hadn't worked on that a lot since she was only 3yo at the time.

2001 Iowa State Fair - Ebby, Chele and I In order to participate in the riding classes your horse has to be in a driving or halter class. We had only worked on driving single twice, so that was out and left halter! We were a class filler, but it was great experience for Ebby and Chele, as she was my 'whip girl' for her very first time. She did just fine. :)

2001 Iowa State Fair - Tess and I This was my first go at ladies cart at the state fair, as Tess is the only mare broke to drive single and I've been driving her since 2000. However, what happened after we entered the ring, I don't care to remember. She ran away w/ me and I couldn't stop her no matter what, but avoiding a collision and it took six men to get her stopped. After a huge sigh of relief and many tears, the crowd applauded as I excused myself from the class for safety reasons. None of us can figure out what happened, as I drove her all over the grounds before the class and she was fine.

2001 Iowa State Fair - Dave and I Dave came all the way out from California w/ his wife to see us show the drafts. This pic was taken during a wedding we did during the fair.

2001 Guthrie County Fair - Tess and I This fair doesn't have a riding class, so I did ladies cart. I was pretty nervous after what happened at the state fair, but didn't let it show. We went around that ring w/ no problems and we placed first out of three. Her trot was much stronger than I would have liked, but nonetheless, we did it! :)

This a fun class, because I'm the only one that enters on a draft! We can't compete against the arabians, apps and ponies, but do our best and have fun. Someday I might surprise them and actually place!

Summer of 2000 - Holly and I This is Ebby and Ben's full, older sister. She's 6yo this year. I started her under saddle in 2000 and it just wasn't her cup of tea. I showed her in the same class above and in the costume class at that same fair and the costume class at the Iowa State Fair last year.
