EVOLUTION OF THE PHILIPPINE FLAG
The first flag of the Katipunan. The 3 Ks stand for Kataas-taasan Kagalang-galangang Katipunan ng mga Anak ng Bayan.
Another variation of the flag.
The regimental flag of the Revolutionary Army
The flag that was used by the Supremo, Andres Bonifacio. The sun was a prominent image of the revolution which symbolized the bright future ahead and the ideals for a free Philippines.
The flag by Gen. Pio del Pilar. It was also known as Ang Bandilang Matagumpay or The Victorious Banner.
Called Llanera's Skull. The flag used was used as a battle flag by General Mariano Llanera.
The battle flag of Gen. Aguinaldo. It was originally the flag of the  Magdalo faction in Kawit, Cavite. This became a Katipunan symbol when Aguinaldo succeeded Bonifacio as Katipunan's Supremo. Again, the image of the sun was used and it featured the "K" in alibata (ancient alphabet in the Philippines) script.
The first Philippine national flag. The March 17,1897 convention in Naik,  Cavite ratified it to be the official flag of the new revolutionary government.
General Gregorio del Pilar's banner. It was inspired by the Cuban flag and was also influenced by his elder brother's flag.
The flag of the Republic of the Philippines. It was made by Marcela Agoncillo when Aguinaldo was in exile in HongKong. It was banned by the Americans when the Republic was suppressed during the Phil-American war and was revived when the Philippine Government was established.
It was unfurled by Aguinaldo when the Philippine independence was declared on June 12,1898 in Cavite.
    The three colors stand for:
White symbolizes  purity, and also stands for the Katipunan. Blue means peace and the noble ideas of the Filipinos. Red stands for courage and bravery.
The 3 stars stand for the 3 major group of islands: Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. The eight rays of the sun connote the eight provinces that revolted against the Spanish government:  Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Bulacan, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija and Tarlac.
