The battalion is the service arm of the Regiment, a direct line command unit of the SANDF. With a complete leader group contingent, the focus on training and preparation takes up most of the year calendar.

The battalion is the active part of the regiment.
Training is ongoing and comprises all aspects of soldiering.
The battalion shooting team takes part in competitions all around the country; the Gold Cup is the premier Citizen Force competition. 

Shooting is an integral part of regimental training.

Parades play a crucial role in the development of a soldier, teaching the individual discipline, awareness and the value of preparation while instilling a sense of pride and 'esprit de corps'.

The annual El Alamein parade and service is the highlight of the regimental parade calendar.
