| Heres the picture We had planned to go to the Nascar sanctioned Southwest Series races in Stockton http://www.stockton99speedway.com/ this past Saturday, July 16th. While Im gettn the Ol School ready to roll, Im runn the overhead A/Cs off Genny (the generator) to cool our way to Stockton. Just about the time of departure, Genny gives up the ghost. I suspect its the same problem I just paid $600 to repair, but thats a chapter not included here. Keep in mind its like more than a hundred and sumthin, and weve got no A/C , but we gotta go anyway - right? So we do, and the perdy one comes up with an idea! We stop at Home Depot and buy a mister system. We had an outside water connection, and it should work, yeah? So we get to the track around 2:00PM. Its hotter than, well, at least hot, and we park with a dozen other MHs there. I must mention there were some MHs in the area. Anyway, we grab a spot and get setup; hang the mister system off the awning, and life is again wonderful! TIP #1 - Consider a mister system for your rig folks. Theyre low pressure, and dont use much water or 12VDC power. They work great and instead of having to sit in your coach for A/C, you can enjoy the great outdoors in comfort, regardless of the heat. I would not have had this better experience if it wasnt for Genny. I love her and I will pay even more to get her back. TIP # 2 - (I just love tippn) Those of us that travel frequently need a place to spend a night on the road, and it sure is nice when you can find a boondockn spot for no $$. We know these RV park folks dont offer the quicky. Its $25 or more, when all we want is to pull in late and leave early. We just want to eat, sleep, and hit it tomorrow. Aint worth more than five-dollars any ol way. Now, you can add one more place to your boondockn ideas. On any given Saturday night in almost every small town in America, theres a stock car racetrack with racn gon on.. Almost all of these tracks will let you spend the night there without any charge. So youre not a race fan? Get over it, and know these tracks are a place you could stay free, and you wouldnt have to buy a ticket to the races anyway. Besides, youll most likely find it very entertainn. Heres a picture of Burney Lamar of West Sacramento California. Weve been following Burneys career for six years, and ironically, we happened to park next to his sponsors camp. They had a smoker and BBQ going for about 30 employees. We didnt know who their driver was when we first arrived, but later we did when they started breaking out T-shirts and hats with Burneys name on them. Patty meandered over to the party and explained how we are long time fans, and how we come to this race just to watch him run. So she asked if we could buy some shirts, and they said no, but gave us each a shirt and hat, and invited us to their cookout. Burney was to - and did show up later and autographed all the merchandise. Very cool. (no pun) Hope everyones travels have been as good!!!!! |
