The adventures began upon returning from Viet Nam, and getting released from the Marine Corps in 67'   It started by hitchhiking 12,000 miles through 44 states over a 3-month period. Then to carrying what you could on the back of a 1944 Harley Davidson knucklehead, to a tent, a cot in the back of a pickup, campers, trailers, a van, a class C motorhome, and lastly to the Bluebird Wanderlodge.  We boat-camped in SeaRay boats for 10 years as well.  We've been on many of northern California's lakes, and Flaming Gorge in Utah and Wyoming.  We've traveled the thousand miles of delta waterways we have here between Sacramento and San Francisco.

Some time ago while looking for a larger motorhome we came across the
Wanderlodge forum on the Internet.  After 10 months of research,  and during May 2004, we found our bird in Dallas Texas.  That's when we bought a one-way flight from Sacramento and bought the ol' girl  from the late Sid Clark.

The Bird is 36.5 feet and has a gross weight of 42,000 lbs.  Shes powered by a 6V92, 330 HP turbo-charged 2-stroke Detroit Diesel, with a 5 speed Allison transmission.  Theres 100 gallons of fresh water, 72 gallon gray, 86 gallon black tanks.  45 gallons of propane, and 300 gallons of fuel, which gives us a range over 1,800 miles.  There are 11 heaters consisting of chassis (water heat), electric, and propane.  There are 3 air conditioners with a 12,500 watt diesel generator.  Weve added a 2,500 watt inverter, flat-panel TV, Satellite radio, and Pattys personal dcorating.   We've also just added "Latawnya".  She's the lady in the talking GPS system.

Built like a tank, it's encased in all steel construction with air brakes and air suspension. It drives like a luxury car, and provides a high degree of comfort and safety.  The wind and big rigs have no adverse effect to us on the highway, and with the tag axle you hardly have to hold the wheel, as she tracks down the highway like a train on a rail!

We enjoy adventuring down the road, and finding places to boondock. We dislike RV parks and seldom stay in these.  RV parks are more like RV jails. Utah is our favorite state and we like to get back there every year or two.  We average about 10,000 miles a year.

We also like to camp at
NASCAR races and have attended races at Sonoma CA, Las Vegas NV, Phoenix AZ, and Indianapolis IN, as well as a number of short tracks throughout the west. Nascar tailgating  parties  make a football game party look like romper room.

We got into 4-wheel'n with Sara, and have been on the Rubicon and other trails in California, Nevada and Moab Utah.  Moab is world's biggest and best adult playground!  Milage not checked.  Lots of hours though!  (Rock'n is pretty slow).

April of '06 we adopted Scullatore.  Shes a 2003
Kawasaki Vulcan 1600 Classic.  1,552 cc or 96 cubic inches, fuel injected with a 5-speed tranny.

March of '07 comes "Hale Bopp" a 2006 Vulcan 1600 Nomad.  Hale Bopp - the mother comet taking us to the next level - Heaven's Gate.

Remember when sex was safe and motorcycles were dangerous?

Here's a couple of good forums:
VROC and  VN1600 forum,

We are also fans of the
Sacramento Kings NBA team and continue to have hope.

Ron & Patty - are best friends, and have been married since March of 1995.  We have 4 kids, and 1 grandchild.  Mason 2, Monique 19, Lauren 21,  Kurt 26, Veronica 29.  Together, with Patty's parents, we all live in the Sacramento California area, and are able to be together often .  We like that!

Patty loves arts, crafts, home decorating, sewing, and she is an artist.  Patty has started her Interior Decorating Business now.  Need a quote? email [email protected]

Ron likes to drive the bus, cruise on the bike, wheel the Jeep, camp, cook and fish,  but has no artistic talents at all.  He just drives stuff and BBQ's.

We both enjoy cooking and entertaining our
friends and family with dinner parties.  Lots of BBQ!
This is Sara the Sahara, proudly JIMIFIED by Jim Ackley. We lost Jim Christmas Eve 2004. Jim was enthusiastic about traveling, wheel'n, and life.  He is missed by all that knew him.  He's that kind of man
