The Manly Sea Eagles entered the NSWRL in 1947 along with the
Parramatta Eels. In 1951 the Sea Eagles made their first grand final
in just their 5th year in the competition. 
 
The Sea Eagles won their first premiership in 1972 with a 19 - 14 victory
over Eastern Suburbs and a 14 - 10 victory over Cronulla in the following
season. Manly won the last grand final to be played at the SCG in the
1987 with a 18 - 8 victory over Canberra. Manly won its most recent
competition in 1996 defeating St George at the Sydney Football Stadium.
