Self Control -
Started Spring '99. Finished Summer '99. For band. This
started as an experiment: could I really write a piece that
was simple? See for yourself.
Stories Movements I and
II - First movement for flute, Bb clarinet, two Bb
trumpets, three Horns in F, trombone, and tuba. Second
movement for picolo, two flutes, Eb clarinet, two Bb
clarinets, alto clarinet, and bass clarinet. This is dedicated to my wife, Stacy.
Started Fall '96. Existing movements were finished Winter '98. There are two
movements in the works, but they are not ready to be put up
yet. They include parts for three more trumpets, strings,
harp, and organ (maybe).
Awakening - Duet for organ
and piano. Started Fall '95. Finished Summer '97.
Woodwind Quintet #1 - by Rick and Stacy Kimpel. For flute, oboe, Bb clarinet, horn in F, and bassoon. Finished Fall '97.
His Gentle Spirit - Piano
solo. Started Fall '94. Finished Summer '95.
Flute Chorale -
For flute choir, but probably better suited to string orchestra.
Horn Quartet #1 -
Although I wrote this for horns, I'm considering orchestrating it for
brass choir. The key change is supposed to sound like that. =P
Lilt -
This is my first attempt at writing a solo organ piece. It's a bit
too whimsical to be played at a church service, though. ;-)
untitled -
This is a vocal quintet (it would have been written a step lower, but
I wrote the bass part for my range). I can't seem to find a decent
text to put to it, so right now it's quite suitable for brass quintet.
untitled -
For three voices. It has one complete phrase, and I think I'm going
to leave it at that. I want to put some Latin religious text to it,
but I'm not sure what.
Whack -
For trumpet, sax, piano, bass, and trap set(not on this file). My
first attempt at a jazzier sound.
Arrangements
Rockingham -
Setting composed Lent of 2003. I envision a series of organ preludes, called "Meditations." I'm already working on the second one.
Trinity University Alma Mater
- by Dr. Timothy Kramer;
arr. Rick Kimpel, Jr. Arranged for the
Trinity University Pep Band. Composed in late '98. Arr.
finished in mid 1999. E-mail Dr. Kramer if you want to hear it.
Alpha Phi Omega Toast Song -
For brass quintet. Written for the region VII sections 43 and 44
bisectional conference, at which it was played in March 1999.
La Cucaracha -
Arranged along with Handel's Alleluia Chorus, oddly enough, for
horn quartet. I tried to get the Pep Band horns to play it, but the
Handel was easier and more fun.
- arr. Rick
Kimpel, Jr. For horn sextet. Started Fall '96. Finished Winter
'97. Brass choir version finished Summer '98. For Mr. Randy
Storie and Midland's Robert E. Lee High School Band.
- arr. Rick
Kimpel, Jr. For oom-pah band, solo: electric guitar, undefined
eerie instrument, two mezzos, and baritone. Auf Deutsch
(Natrlich!). Started Winter '97. Finished Spring '97. Fr
Frau Hayes.
If I Were Single Again - folk tune.
I arranged this up so a friend could practice for his voice class. He's still single.
- arr. Rick
Kimpel, Jr. For solo vocalist, piano, and organ. Additional
orchestrations on request. Finished various times. Never
performed it the same once. Special thanks to Sandy Sullivan
for getting me started on this one.
Lobe den Herrn (Praise Ye the
Lord) - arr. Rick Kimpel, Jr. For full orchestra,
choir, and handbell choir. In English and German. Auf Englisch
und Deutsch. Started Spring '98. Finished Summer '98. This one
is for Gerome.
Unfinished Works
Woodwind Quintet #2 -
This whimsical march has a good start; I just got impatient. I might
get around to beefing it up some day.
- by Joseph Picaol. I transcribed
this piece for Professor Gerald Benjamin for my final project in
Latin American Music Culture. It is a villancico from the 18th century.
