I worked at GE Aero Energy Products for nearly four years. Power engineering wasn't exactly where my strong suit was coming out of college, but after a couple of years experience I've become an "expert" in generator protection. Now I work for CCSI in Conroe. I'm their Engineering Manager, but I'm the only engineer. I also tutor math, email me if you live in North Houston and need some affordable math help.
I graduated magna cum laude in engineering science at Trinity University in San Antonio.I was looking into electronics - either semiconductors or telecommunications - but those markets pretty much busted right when I was looking for a job. I used to work at Instructional Media Services in the library there. I drove a golf cart around campus (terrorizing the squirrels) and delivered audiovisual equipment to various classrooms on campus. One summer I interned at KCI, specifically charged with testing the BariMaxx. That's engineer-talk for "I got to break stuff all summer!" Those little metal pieces on the footboard are my contribution to make the design more robust.
To help pay for college, I taught an SAT class for Kaplan. I can honestly say that Princeton Review is a much better use of your money.
In school, I was a member of Alpha Phi Omega - Delta Pi chapter. I was the seceratary/treasurer for Trinity Symphony Docents for the San Antonio Symphony. I also sang in Trinity Choir and Chamber Singers. I was in almost every other ensemble on campus, too: Parker Chapel Handbell Choir, Pep Band, and I've performed with the Trinity Wind Symphony, Orchestra, and Jazz Band.
My family is pretty interesting, too. My mom got promoted to principal at Bagby Elementary School in San Jose, California. My dad is a pipeline designer, and he works in New Mexico. My brother, Caleb, graduated from U. Mass, Amhurst. He's a bit of a poet. Here's a wedding song he wrote for his bride (lyrics music). They live in Midland, Texas now.
Stacy and I got married two weeks after graduation in 2001 and moved to Houston. We lived really close to the brand new Reliant Stadium.
Also, Stacy and I have a cockatiel. His name is Lexi. He's finally grown a tail. Later he had to have wing surgery. He's had a rough life... even though we spoil him.
