Creative Innovation in Hindustani Classical Music has been the key to Rajendra Kandalgaonkar's growth as an artist. Moving into the depths of the Raga, he understands and responds to the emotional environment and nature of the Raga. As he evokes the 'alaap' of the raga, he builds a rapport with his audiences. With original thought in 'layakari' and 'taans', he performs, using his extensive experience in stage performances, and delivers, both, the expected and the unexpected. This attributes his singing, giving it a distinct and very attractive flavor.

A STRONG GROUNDWORK IN MUSIC THROUGH TRAINING
Rajendra Kandalgaonkar has been trained by some of the most renowned Gurus. At the young age of 7, he began his basic training in vocal music from Pandit Vishnu A. Ghag, of the Gwalior Gharana. This spanned an intensive 18 years of training, from 1967 to '84. He then moved on, since 1980, to train under none other than the maestro of Indian Vocal Classical himself, Pandit Bhimsen Joshi of the Kirana Gharana. Even today, Pandit Bhimsen Joshi's name remains unparalleled in the field of Indian Classical music, not only in India, but across the globe. Complimenting this is his brilliant academic record as a formal student of music, wherein he has topped several examinations. Rajendra Kandalgaonkar, today, is also a reputed teacher of music. He has performed at many well known concerts all over India, along with regular performances on Doordarshan ( Indian television ) and AIR (All India Radio) He has also been conferred the highest 'A' grade for Indian Vocal Music by AIR and Natya Sangeet (Marathi Stage Music).

The first cassette of Shree Kandalgaonkar has been launched by Creative Cassettes. In this he has made remarkable and unique elaborations on the Raga Marwa. Frequent Awards, Recognitions, and an extensive experience of delivering stage performances that receive overwhelming responses; are what set him apart.
