| Hah! By Mitra's golden sword and Tanit's veil you have found the Hyborian Age at Ancient Chronicles. I have been deeply interested in the Conan saga and the Hyborian Age for a very long time. My dad gave me Conan of Aquilonia for Christmas one year and, after having eagerly read that one, I got the rest of the Ace series for my Birthday! And then there was the movie, Conan the Barbarian. It was a great movie but what got me hooked was the fabulous soundtrack by Basil Poledouris. So, if you've been a fan all your life or if this is your first experience with Conan, read on and enjoy! Robert E. Howard (1906-1936) wrote the original Conan stories for Weird Tales magazine never suspecting the legacy they would spawn. Conan has had a franchise of pastiches, comic books, movies, and television shows for over 70 years that has arguably put his name on par with Hercules and King Arthur. Learn more about how this phenomenon came about in the R.E.H. section. The Institute for Hyborian Studies *(founded in 1985 by the notorious adventurer Michael "Lucky" Smith) has done much in recent years to promote a reevaluation of the traditional chronological scheme for Man's ancient past. Their stated aim: The advancement of research into the chronology, archaeology and history of the Hyborian Age. Read about the history of Hyborian archaeological discoveries in this section. The Bibliography section includes not only the Conan short stories, novels, and pastiches but also information on the movies and television episodes. Check out the Hyborian Age Who's Who for information on warriors, sorcerers, wenches, and gods. You had better keep them straight or, By Crom, you'll regret it! The Hyborian Atlas is your guide to the geopolitical world of the Hyborian Age. Learn the lay of the land and be able to tell the difference between a Shemite and a Pict. The Hyborian Age Timeline not only places Conan's adventures and travels in chronological order but also the whole panoply of Hyborian history. Last but not least, the Hyborian Age Links Page contains links to the Net's resources on Conan, the Hyborian Age, and Robert E. Howard. |
