The Republic of Condicci- The largest, richest, and best organized of the Anoboran states Condicci rules a maritime empire stretching from the Mare Levant to Chou Lou. While officially a Republic Condicci is run by a merchants obliarchy as ruthlessly organized as Stalinist Russia all to protect wide open captilism.
 Despite its rigorously authoritarian government Condicci is probable one of the most cosmopolitan and tolerant cities in the world (provided this behavior doesn’t threaten the state or trade).

The Province of Balamonti-This hilly back water separated its  self from  the Papal States in the middle ages and promptly sank  into anarchy. Poor  and over-populated Bologna is the major  source  of Condottiero.

The  Republic  of  Estavia-Is the heart land  of  the  Taborite movement in Anobora sense the populist revolution of 1487. Lead by the renegade monk Salitorie who is obsessed with reforming Christendom at sword point if necessary Estavia has been the source of much alarm in Anobora recently.
 It is rumored that Salitorie’s anti Papal activities have been quietly aided by the Emperor.
 When not attacking  their neighbors Estonia is major silk and wool manufacturing center.

The  Duchy  of Fearro-When the last Esta duke died heiress  the  duchy exploded  into  civil war. Finally in a bid to restore  order  the commons  invited the Rawmian Empire in and thus making  Fearro  a province of the Rawmian Empire.

The Republic of Gora-Was conquered by the Mitosa a number  of years ago during one of their perennial civil wars.

The  Duchy of Lucca-This tiny state is an adventures  dream, Francisco Bussone  rose from a peasant to carve the county out of  Florence and rule as its first Duke in 1420.

The  Kingdom  of  Natori- The largest of the Anoboran states in area and population Natori is burdened with a archaic, feudal government and numerous powerful and independent Barons. It king, Charles III, is dying of a terrible wasting disease that has killed off the entire royal household leaving the King of Lusitania as the heir  (sure to be a point of contention in the future).
 The city of Natori is the largest population center in Anobora. It is currently being ravaged by a terrible new waisting disease that is difficult to cure.

The Duchy of Mantue-Is currently occupied by the Mitosains which had put into direct contact with the Empire.

The  County  of Mina Calderea- It’s count’s major ambition is staying independent of Metosa.

 The Duchy of Mitosa-The Marquis of Milan see themselves as the rightful kings of Anobora  and no Pope, Rawmian Emperor, or  Lusitanians  King  will  stop them in this ambition. Despotic  and  treacherous Milan is the wild card in the  Anobora's great game.  Mitosa  is currently  occupying the Duchy of Mantue,  the Republic of Gora,  and  looking  for  an  opening  anywhere else. The city of Mitosa is the major manufacturing center of Anobora and is world famous for it fine steel swords and armor. The Dukes of Mitosa maintain a famous Academy for Humanists Philosophers that have provided the duchies’ armies with many exotic and odd weapons of practicality. But they do make battles with the Mitosians a odd affair.

The Papal States-The Papal States are the major land holdings of the  Catholic church in  Anobora. While supposedly the  vassals  of the  Pope the various communities of the province seem  to  spend most of their time figuring out just why they don't have to  obey His Holiness.
The current Pope is Alexander the IV, a Lusatenain who relies on his homeland heavily for help

The  Principality of Parma- This state is one of the leading manufacturing centers of  Anobora.

The County of Rimmini-This small state on the Papal  States, Bologna  border  is  allegedly  part of  the  Papal  states  but  its rulers, the Malatesas, have kept their subservience to the Holy See largely theoretical.
The  Malatesas are among the leading humanist of the Renaissance and  have done their best to make Rimmini a pagan state. All this in the face  of the Pope in Rome.

The Duchy of Urbrino-This small Duchy inside  the Province  of Bologna has carved itself an independent niche under rulership of its Duchess, the remarkable Catharine Sorfoza, held to be one  of the  most  well  educated women of the land  and  a  accomplished warrior too.

Politics, Religion, and Social Class
Nobility- What is a Anoboran Noble like; well if he is willing to wade accross the plazza that he just spent the last hour massacuring his enemies in to attend the unveiling for the artists he sponsors newest master piece then that person is an Anoboran noble.  Notoriously fractious the  Anoborian Nobility are dived into  the Ghibellines, Black  Guelf  and White Guelf  parties. Originally these were part of the Papal - Imperial struggle of the  thirteen hundreds these parties are now just labels. Any  character from the nobility will belong to one of these three parties.

Commons-The  commons  are divided politically between  the  merchants  and guildsmens, the landowners, the laborers, and the  peasantry a struggling with each other for power and wealth. Usually  it breaks down into Merchant or  Landowner fighting  down peasant or Laborer parties pushing  for  democracy though the city verses the rural parties is not unheard.

Catholicism-Is  the major religion in most of  Anobora. The  average character will at lest be nominally catholic. For game proposes this Anoboran Catholicism is identical too 15th Century Italian Catholicism.

Taborism-Is the major Protestant religion that's recently  sprung to prominence. The major difference between the two religions is that the Catholics Jesus died for you sins so don't eat meat on Fridays, and for the Taborite believe  God loves you so you will be rich. Needless to say there is endless cause to murder and torture  one another with these philosophies.

Paganism-Several small pagan cults can still be found among  the rual peasants. La Madonna of the Beasts in the south and the Harvest Cult  in  the north are the most  prominent. Typically  most  peasant pagans are simultaneously pagans and Christians.

Humanism-Is  the  Pagan revival fashionable  among  the  educated elite. Humanist  are  very  concerned with  magic, power  and  other mundane concerns.

Vulture  Cult-This obscure sect with it ancient origins is  poorly understood  by outsiders. All that is clear is the Vulture  Cultist passion for decapitating random travelers for their obscure  ceremonies.

Schuberitc  Catholicism-Is  the  official religion  of  the  Rawmain Empire and seldomly practiced by humans. Taborism is has grown  to rival the Schuberitc Catholics in the Empire. The major difference is the Schubertic bible includes two extra books; Letters to the Lepans, and the Life of St.Schubert.

Caloric  Christianity- Christianity  of the Halflings. Officially  banned  and suppressed and it practiced in secret by most Halflings.

The  Knights of St. Schubert the Steadfast-The most prominent crusading orders in Anobora the Schuberits are  admired (or at lest respected for) by one and all their devotion to  good deeds and their refusal to give into venality in spit of considerable success (and a generally squeaky clean appearance).

Other religions-There are several other religious beliefs to found in Anobora that are not widely practiced, Islam, Bothian  Orthodox Christianity, Judaism, and several minor Protestant sects.

Eghan- A large island about 100 miles south of  Anobora. If  the middle ages live on in Naples the dark ages live  on  in Eghan. The  Eghans  are still trying to get use to  this  idea  of cities  and they are not helped by the fact that the  chief  resource of Eghan is peat.
Eghan  has at  various times has been occupied by  the  Gorans, Condiccians, and Trabozan. Now it is currently occupied by the Lusatenians .

The  Empire  of  Eventium -This  small  state is the  last remnant  of  the  Borean Empire.  While  its empire is small in size its capital is the  oldest and largest city in the Occidental world. There are books and scrolls in  it that date back centuries and are  coveted  by scholars the world over.  Eventium  is unique in that is the only matriarchal culture  in the  world (the Boreans were  Matriarchal giving the game a convenient excuse for women characters). While the ancient Boreans were noted for their "worldly  indulgences" the fall  of  their empire left the  Eventines  with the  firm  belief that "excesses of the flesh" are a weakness. Eventium   is about as prudish a culture you can imagine). Any proper Eventium  will insist on  covering their body head. to toe.
 Eventium   also endures a considerable amount of  friction  with its  patriarchal neighbors

Mordavia- This small state principality of Ruthania on the eastern  flank of  the  Calderia  mountains has  maintained  a  valiant  defense against  the  Yhule  after the fall of Ruthania.

The Kingdom of the Junthem- This kingdom  straddles  the land bridge between the Occidental and  Oriental  contents.  It is home of the race called the Ursc. While the Rawmian originated from rabbits the Urscs originated from bears. Like  the  Eghans the Juntemers are still fighting to  get  into  the middle  ages  before  some one overruns them. In  spite  of  being ferocious  fighters  they  have been defeated  by  the  Yhule , Rawmians, and Braghuls repeatedly. It seems that when moral is low  in one of these Empires they invade the Urscs just to  cheer themselves up.
Due to their huge size and bravery Urscs are popular mercenaries in  Anobora.

The  Kingdom of Lusatenia -  After being nearly conquered by the Yhule in the 7th century  Lusatenia  has made come back to become one of  the  great powers of the Occidental. Lusatenia currently occupies Genoa and  Eghan among  other islands and small counties . Its King  is King of Suria and the Heir Apparent of Naples. Anobora  is an attractive jewel in the Lusatenians  eyes.

The Holy Borean and Rawmain Empire-This  collection  of large islands to the east of Anobora. If Humans evolved from apes the  Rawmain evolved from rabbits. Rawmia bears a  resemblance’s to Germany in may ways. About 75 years ago Trabozan threw in the towel in its wars with  the Rawmain and their Princess Clara the IV married the then  Emperor Gunther  the  II  in a odd symbolic marriage. Due to this unlikely union the Rawmain Emperor is also  the Prince of the Trabozan.
 

Ostphilia-The  two western large islands are the Duchy of  Ostphillia. Heavily interconnected with Anobora the Ostphilians  consider themselves the most cultured of the Rawmiana.

Odenia-The  three  center  islands of the  archipelago  are  the Principality of Oldenia. The most populous province of the  Empire it  is also the Empire's industrial center. The Emperor's  family,  the Hanzenburghs are from Odenia.

The city of Nuremburgh, Odenia, is world famous for its swords and armor. In  fact  its  specialty is the famous  Gothic  Full  Plate Armor. While Eventine prides itself on its  memory of the  past, and Anobora on its Humanist movement Rawmian pride is in its technology. Devices and precision assemblies made in Rawmia are  unequaled throughout the world.

Meckleland-The northern two islands of the archipelago call themselves Meckleland. With such  neighbors  as  the Ursc the Mecklelanders are considered  rather  back wards by the  rest of the Empire.

Hessulund- An  island  to the south east of Oldenia  the  Margravate  of Hessuland  is  one of the poorest provinces  of  the  Empire, many Imperial mercenaries come from Hessuland.

 Scagaria- Living on the four eastern most islands of the Empire the   Scagarians  are  extremely poor and in perpetual revolt  against  the Empire. Scageria  is also a  source of ill reputed mercenaries  the Empire gleefully uses as cannon fodder.

The  Knights  Hanzeatic-This fighting order is only open  to  the Rawmain and crusades continuously against the Pagan Ursc,  Yhule , and  Braghuls . They  control  a  small state on the  Ursc  Turk  border
called the Orderstade.
The  Empire  of Ruthania- Ruthania is a Slavic  land just  north of Anobora  and was conquered by the Yhule about 70 years ago when their  Czar Stephen  the  IV was killed at the battle of  Nicholopilous and most of the Ruthanian nobility slain with him
 

The Sultanate of the White Yhule-This  huge  and ancient empire has managed to conquer all  of  or portions of Lusatenia, Eventium , Suria, Ruthania, Mordavia,   Urscalund,  and Rawmia at one time or another. Currently  the White Yhule Empire consist of  Chaldea, Barbary, and Ruthania. They  are  now in a decline since  their  sultan  Al Kammer was killed at the battle of Jasmier with the Rawmians.
 

Barda-The  eastern  most  province of the  Yhule empire  it borders the Rawmians seas. Its three great port cities  are  occupied by the Rawmain Empire.

Chaldea- Lies to the west on  the Mare  Levant and  this world's Holy Land is part of  it. Two  centuries ago the crusade were waged over this place. In  ancient  times the Chaldeans were great  wizards  and  their books are eagerly sought after.

Red  Yhule-This was a large eastern tribe of  Yhule  located  just north of Ruthania. Perennial trouble makers in the Turkish  Empire until about 75 years ago when the Turkish Sultan Osman the Fierce set out to exterminate them. The survivors fled into foreign lands and their descendants  are now chiefly the mercenary cavalry called "Straddiots".
 

The Orientals-Far away from Anobora these lands are said to be called  Bactria, Chou Lou, Tu Lung, Wa and  Kozakura.  Travelers  to there bring back stories of lands  exotic  beyond belief. Numerous  myths and fables of the oriental  lands  confuse the issue even more. Their various governments have  adopted  policies of extreme Xenophobia limiting there communications with the outside (just  being a foreigner is punishable by death in  Tu  Lung and Wa). Only one port in Chou Lu is open to  Foreigners.
The  Rawmian Empire is currently invading Bactria to  force it to the acknowledge that Rawmia even exists and open it trade.

The Gold Road.-  is the sea lanes from the open ports of Chou Lou, to  Trabozan, to Anobora, to  Eventine. This east west trade has made these countries wealthy and it  is the earnest desire of many a county to get control of any of  the ports along the way
