Cards of Holidays Past

The Lone Scotsman   1991

One of the images that stayed in my mind's eye was a bagpipe player that was performing outside the ruins of a castle on Loch Ness in Scotland.  I took this subject matter and and transported it back to Chicago.  This is the view from the Planetarium taken on a starry night.  I love the profile of the skyline from this lookout point.  It is a vista that I feel I never capture, no matter how many times I render it.

With most of these compositions I attempt to include the Moon in some manner.  It is a strange fact that the same side always faces our planet.

Michigan Avenue 1992

This was a scene I wanted to take out of time.  Michigan Avenue during the holidays is one of the most beautiful places to be in the world.  So I removed the regular automobile congestion and replaced them with horse-drawn carraiges.

The Watertower is on of the most detailed buildings left from the last century.  It was a pleasure to bring this scene to life.
