Political Cartoons 1983-84

All drawings were done ink on Paper, and were relevant to events of that particular time.

"Puppet Master"                                                                  November 1983
During the Fall of 1983 the U.S. military had gone into Grenada and rescued some American medical students.  The government head was replaced by someone to Reagan's liking.  So I took advantage of the situation.

What made Reagan so much fun was that he was a real-life cartoon.  When Clinton came into power years later I knew I would not have had as much fun drawing him.

"It's just a little cut"                                                                      March  1984
After years of building up the military Reagan began making some cuts.  But the cuts would have hurt the military very deeply.  In the end our country ended up bankrupting the Soviet Union.  They just couldn't spend as much on their military as we could (that is, us the taxpayers).

By this time I was more confident with my drawing style as well as my subject matter.  I particularly enjoyed the image of a hippo on a tight-rope.
