"We Have the Power" December 1983 Having grown up during the Cold War (it did not end until 1989), the friction between the two powers were very often played out in the media. This reality was further witnessed when I visited East Berlin a few years later. It was only last year that I met someone my age at work that grew up behind the Iron Curtain and discussed the feelings we had for our repective countries.
I approached this drawing more with my own concerns than any particular event that week. It was not until 1989 that I visited the Peace Museum in Hiroshima, Japan, and felt the full emotional impact that this silent war weighed on the world. |
