Christina Dies in Road Mishap
07/17/2002

SUHS 2000 member and 1998 Ms. Silliman 2nd runner-up Christina Marie de la Cerna Brodersen, 19 was killed in a vehicular accident last July 12, 2002 along Rovira Road. Known as "Brod" by some of her batchmates, she was a member of the SU Campus Ambassadors. Based on the traffic blotter of PNP-Dumaguete, Brodersen, traveling on a direction away from St. Paul's College, was on her way to ABC Learning Center to pick up her two sibling at around 5:30 PM when the accident took place. A certain Alberto Tobias, 52, related that while he was driving his BMX bicycle in the same direction, Brodersen allegedly attempted to overtake him, hitting the left handle of his bike as well as his hand. Brodersen then reportedly swerved to the left and lost control. Her red Kawasaki Aura motorcycle rammed on the center island of the road, leaving Brodersen sprawling on the ground. She was left unconscious on the middle of the road after her head slumped on the pavement. Medical findings show that Brodersen sustained skull and pelvic fractures, and had a brain swelling, resulting to a blood clot in her skull. She was pronounced dead at 8:00 AM the following day.
