Riverside PTA's “Reflections” Program
This Year's Theme: “Wow!”

The Riverside PTA Presents The 2008-2009 Reflections Arts Program;  “Wow!”

The Reflections Program is a National PTA and a Wisconsin State PTA cultural arts competition. The purpose for this program is to provide an opportunity for students to use their creative talents by expressing themselves through their own original works, created around a specific theme. This year’s theme is “Wow!” and you decide what the phrase means to you and how you can explain what a difference means to you. General Participation Rules and Entry Forms are linked below for downloadiing and printing.  Additional rule sheets and entry forms may also be picked up at the school office. Rules and entry forms are also available in Spanish. Students can enter in any, or all, of the specific categories, but only one entry per category is allowed.

Participating in the PTA’s Reflections Program is an opportunity for students to explore and learn about various art forms.  An entry created for the Reflection Program can be created as part of a classroom project or assignment or independently at home.

All Riverside Elementary students may participate in this year’s Reflections Program by submitting an original work(s) of art using the theme, “WOW!”.  Children can brainstorm with their friends, families, teachers, etc. and think about their everyday lives and what “WOW!” means to them (special trips, people they have met, etc.) to lead them to starting their project, but only original works of art created by the artist working alone, for the 2008-2009 theme will be accepted.

Completed entries should be turned into the main office at school, on or before, the end of the school day, December 5th.  Each entry must be accompanied by an official entry form which includes the student’s name, grade, and parent’s or guardian’s signature. Be sure you have read the rules and comply with them, so that your entry is not disqualified.

All participants will receive a certificate and recognition award.  Up to three finalists in each category will be selected to advance to the state level and receive an additional award of achievement.  The winners of the state level will then advance to the National PTA level.  Participants will also be recognized in this year’s Riverside Yearbook.

Remember, students may enter as many categories as they wish, however only one entry per category will be accepted.  Please make sure that your child does not put his/her name or any other personal information on the front of the project unless it is specifically mentioned in the rules of the art area being submitted.

Projects will be prepared for judging by members of the PTA Reflections Committee at the local and state level, including the mounting (if not already done) and shrink wrapping which is strongly recommended.
