| You Woke 10/7/97 Far off in lands of forest green
And rivers full of flowers,
Where bean stalks grow through clouds and skies
You lie asleep for hours.
For time is long and dead is gone
And lilies' eyes will burn you,
"We dare not die," the people cry,
"You've no one left to turn to!"
The moondogs growl through ship and shell,
You're woken in your dream,
And looked around through bright and black
And realised where you'd been.
So off you fly to wonder bay
With magick on your wings,
And leave behind the dull, dark blue
For pink and gold and green.
'Though when you woke the sun was gone
And ice and frost had covered,
The boiling sea and part of me
Yet not air where you hovered.
The mushrooms whispered warning
As the snow began to drift,
And on again through valley's ends
And over evil's mist
An animal who'd talk to you,
A lovely conversation,
Of tiles and tacks and books and blocks
And summer's condensation.
Around and 'round the world you spun
And made your indentation,
Through odds and ends and cottages
To meet your destination.
Until then was when you got there
Did you unfold your history,
When again you woke in bed
To dissolve the mystery.
