No Time for Sleep in Seattle

12/21/07   -All US citizens should watch The Story of Stuff and make a New Years resolution.

12/7/07   -Welp, it's been sooooo long since I last posted, I'm sure no one is checking this anymore (except the one person who just found out that I was making a post), but something happened to me last night that I thought was post-worthy. And then the afore mentioned person sent me a funny email of Top Holiday Rock Songs which I just had to put up, so I'm feeling blog rejuvinated. Now let's see if I can remember any HTML.
The thing that happened to me last night was this: I was sitting in creeping along traffic on my way home. Now for anyone who lives further south, you have to realize that it gets dark up here around 4-5PM this time of year, so it was already dark by this time. All the cars had their lights on of course, but we were on a well lit section of highway. I didn't even notice that there was a HUGE like Ford 450 truck behind me until suddenly things got darker. I peered in my rearview mirror and the truck had turned off his lights. He still had fog lights on and there were plenty of street lights, so no problem with seeing where he was going, but now I wasn't blinded by the light (cut loose like a deuce another runner in the night). I thought that was really considerate.
Being someone who would never buy a gas guzzling monster like that, there are two other things that irk me about them from a drivers wanted perspective. 1) When you are behind them, you can't see what's going on with traffic ahead of you = less reaction time = more potential for accidents. This is especially annoying for someone whose first motor vehicle was a scooter on which you learn to always be aware of what's around you because cars won't be watching for you. 2) Their lights are so far off the ground compared to compact cars that they shine right into your eyes.
If you think about it, it's only a matter of hitting a switch a couple times. But how many people would expend the energy to do it?

3/28/07   -I've complained plenty about my horrendously long commute. One good thing about it though is the gorgeous scenery. Twice I've seen bald eagles and once an owl flew right over the car.

3/26/07   -On the waiting list for a SmartCar, scheduled to come to the US in 2008.

3/24/07   -Getting some new kitchen appliances. Supposed to arrive on 4/7/07 so check back for pics.

3/11/07   -Helped put in a new kitchen sink (the one on the right). Isn't it pretty?

3/?/07   -Found out that there might be a MMOG based on Firefly coming out in the distant future.

3/5/07   -Started playing Dance Dance Revolution Universe.

3/2/07   -Yes, I am alive. And I haven't forgotten about this website. As the title indicates, I just haven't had much time to work on it. When I first came up with this title, I had just moved to Seattle and hadn't started my new job yet so I was busy with unpacking and exploring my new environment by hiking and enjoying all the fine eateries the area has to offer.
Just about the time I was getting settled in, I decided to move in with my new man, Tim... on the east side. For anyone who isn't familiar with the area, our current location means that I have about an 1.5 - 2hr commute each way. So now the title refers to the fact that spending so much time in the car every day leaves little time for much else during the week. Not to worry though, plans to find something closer to the city is in the works.
Otherwise, life is pretty great here in WA. I'll include more details later, but right now, I gotta go...

9/1/06 - 3/1/07   -I've had lots of fun and excitement since I moved to Seattle, some I can't even remember when they happened anymore. Here are some highlights:

9/06 - moved to Seattle.
9/24/06 - took a ferry ride across Puget Sound and visited the Olympic Mountains.
9/25/06 - started my new job.
10/06 - went to a Halloween party in Spokane.
10/06 - saw Cirque du Soleil.
11/06 - visited my mom and grandma in CA.
11/06 - my kitty gave me a huge scare when she stopped eating, but she's ok now.
12/06 - moved to a "suburb" of Seattle.
12/06 - went to see the Nutcraker.
12/06 - Paula came to visit for Christmas and New Years. Yay!
12/06 - started playing Final Fantasy XII.
12/06 - got a Zune and DeLongi mixer for Christmas, thanks sweetie!
1/11-1/14/07 - spent the weekend in Cancun, Mexico. Went on a tour of the Chichen Itza Mayan ruins, super cool. Also discovered that if you add amaretto to a Pina Colada, it makes an even yummier drink.
2/03/07 - went snowmobiling for the first time. It was a blast, even when I ran into a tree.
2/20-2/24/07 - spent the week in Whistler, Canada for a work meeting. Did a little cross-country skiing while I was there.
