RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
Scientist II, University of Kentucky, 7/04-present.
Explore the regulation of proteins involved in the AKT signaling pathway during hypertrophy.
Dr Karyn Esser, Department of Physiology.
Research Specialist, UW Madison, 7/03-6/04.
Establishment of mouse mammary gland epithelial cell line for use in determining the role of collagen density in the development of breast cancer. Studying the role of RRas in cell migration and adhesion.
Dr Patricia Keely, Department of Cellular and Molecular Pharmacology.
Research Specialist, UW Madison, 10/97-7/03.
Investigated the differential glycosylation of alpha-dystroglycan. Performed enzymatic deglycosylation on alpha-dystroglycan purified through tissue solubilization and chromatography. Analyzed the role of alpha-dystroglycan in
acetylcholine receptor clustering in C2C12 myotubes.
Dr James Ervasti, Department of Physiology.
Laboratory Assistant, UC Davis, 1/97-6/97.
Examined the expression of metalloproteases in a human leukemic megakaryocyte cell line (CHRF) through the use of SDS-substrate gels. Experience in cell culture.
Dr. Fern Tablin, Department of Anatomy, Physiology, and Cell Biology.
Laboratory Assistant, UC Davis, 7/96-12/96.
Investigated the mechanism of invasion of Pasteurella multocida into avian kidney epithelial cells. Techniques include bacterial culture, immunohistochemistry, and fluorescent microscopy.
Dr. Fern Tablin, Department of Anatomy, Physiology, and Cell Biology.
Developmental Biology Lab, Bodega Marine Laboratory, 4/96-6/96.
Determined the lethal temperature and the temperature at which fifty percent survival occurred of C. gigas embryos. Obtained survival rates of heat shocked embryos at various stages of development. Compared these survival rates to the
ability of the embryos to mount a heat shock response as measured by the expression of HSP70 using Western blots.
Dr. Fred Griffin, Bodega Marine Laboratory.
Anatomy, Physiology, and Cell Biology 199, UC Davis, 9/95-3/96.
Immunohistochemistry of CHRF cells (leukemic human megakaryocyte cell line) and Western blot analysis. Demonstrated that the regulation of platelet formation involves alpha v beta 3 integrin and may involve alpha v beta 5.
Dr. Fern Tablin, Department of Anatomy, Physiology, and Cell Biology.
Animal Science 194, UC Davis, 9/95-12/95.
Isolation of boar sperm plasma membrane. Techniques included centrifugation, hemacytometer counts, and Parr bombing.
Dr. Patricia Berger, Department of Animal Science.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
Group Tutor, Learning Skills Center, UC Davis, 9/94-6/95.
Tutored organic chemistry.
Biological Sciences 197T, UC Davis, 9/94-12/94.
Answered questions and assisted in performing labs. Conducted an introductory talk to the Cnidarian lab.
Beacon Tutor, American River Junior College, 9/93-6/94.
Group tutoring of physical chemistry.
