Here is a part of the letter from Pastor Marcelo:
I want to personally thank you on behalf of all our church staff amd members and on behalf of the school staff and children for your tremendous effort of sending us the money that allowed us to adopt almost 250 children.
As I was preparing to write this letter, I went to the school to visit with all the children. I am spending one afternoon a week there every week to visit with the children and talk to their parents. I visited the slum right behind the school and saw the difficult condition in which they live. I then remembered how I came from the same similar environment. I could recall that I never had a prospective of life in the future. I never dreamed of one day having a family, owning a car or even going overseas.
I thanked God for bringing me this far. And then I realized that not only God had brought me this far but was now giving me a chance to participate with Him in changing the course of these children's lives - children in the same condition that I was in. Here is a chance to help them the way that I have been helped over the years. I believe they can be rescued, that they can be given a new perspective of life to help them rise above - AND YOU ARE PART IN IT.
With the money you sent, we were able to buy all the material needed to go to school all year long. Also, we painted the school with new paint, new colors, new life. We fixed almost everything that was broken from light bulbs to broken glass windows.
