My Gems
These are unusual items I have come across. All are part of my collection unless otherwise noted. These items are also pictured in the Gold Dust section.

Tips
An ink/pencil eraser can remove alot of marks, just be careful because it will remove "pearl" coatings.
I like to comb their hair before and after washing (wait for it to dry of course). A "two-sided" comb works great. The "larger" end works out tangles and the "smaller" end helps to "smooth-out" the results a little.
Liquid soap and a washcloth can do wonders.
Shampoo and conditioner can help tone-down slight frizzing.
Use nailpolish remover carefully to avoid paint damage and wash afterwards to avoid drying.
Bleach works on white ponies. It is easiest to use on stains on the legs because you can secure it so that the hair and symbol are "safe." Once again remember to wash it afterwards.
Sea Ponies are often moldy inside. The best way I've found to clean them (without removing their head) is to treat them like a squirt bottle. Put a small dab of soap on the drain-hole under the mane, then use suction to add water. Shake up and soak as needed then expel water. Repeat until no mold comes out with the water.
After washing ponies dry them upside-down. Make sure the mane and tail are at the lowest points. The hair will act like a wick and draw out any moisture inside. You'll be able to test how dry the pony is by how wet the hair is. This will help to prevent moldy ponies.
Dish soap works on plastic items, but be careful washing lunchboxes and other items with decals. If they get too wet the decals will come loose.
Go to the hardware/fishing section of the store. There is a nice utility box out there that works great for combs, brushes, petites (see pic), and misc. small accessories. It has two removeable dividers that create 15 square sections, 5 square and 5 rectangular sections, or 5 long rectangular sections.
Rubbermaid makes a nice rectangular latchtop box that can made of clear or transparent colored plastic. It is perfect for most ponies, but is a little short for some styles. Luckily they make another box that is about half it's size, but tall enough for a Dream Beauty. I keep most of my ponies in the rectangular containers and put the taller ponies in the taller containers as needed. Also, they are stackable with 2 tall containers fitting on top of a rectangular one.
To help keep track of all my ponies, I use a color-coded system. Each pony is given a yarn necklace. On the necklace is a colored dot label (the garage-sale labels) folded over the yarn onto itself. Since there are only three colors in a pack, to further distinguish the ponies some also have a colored star on the dot. So a pony with a red dot and a silver star would be (rs). I just have to make sure I tape the ones without stars shut, otherwise they tend to unstick.
