Gold Ingots
As the poem says, Bluebelle was my introduction to My Little Pony. I have much of my collection thanks to my beloved Grandparents who just happen to live nearby. One of my many memories of my Grandfather is of him walking through the door and presenting me with Skydancer, Heart Throb, and Medley. I also have to credit my parents for humoring my need to save the boxes, backcards, and pamphlets. For the most part I was able to retain most of the accessories too, but I do remember having to toss a well-worn brush and I swear Megan's shoe is hidden somewhere amid my nicnacks. (Yep, found it!)

Thanks to Ivy for the pictures!!!

Bluebelle
Bluebelle greeted me early Christmas day. My brother and I had waited just long enough for my parents to reach the stairs. There she was peering our of the top of my stocking!! Unfortunately she came without her packaging so she could fit in the stocking. For awhile after I put the other ponies away I kept her on my bookshelf with my two pony charms (Tell-a-Tale and Sweetheart) draped over her neck on their mail-order bracelet.

Butterscotch
Butterscotch actually belonged to my brother. She was in his stocking, while Bluebelle was in mine. Eventually I was able to "steal" Butterscotch away from him. Like Bluebelle, she came without her packaging.

Windy
I don't really remember when I got her, just that she appeared after Bluebelle. She was usually the "adviser" in my herd. Her backcard is also missing.

Wavedancer
I used to stick her shell to the side of the tub and take her "swimming" along with her "daughter" Backstroke. Although her box is also missing, her shell, brush, and comb are still in good condition.

Firefly
Firefly was part of my "exchange" program. Whenever I went to play at my friend's house down the street, she came along. I had Firefly and Baby Cotton Candy, my friend had Cotton Candy and Baby Firefly. I have the '83 version backcard.

Skydancer, Medley, & Heart Throb
These are three of the ponies I know I got from my Grandfather. I always liked Skydancer's coloring. Medley was the singer. Since she, Firefly, and Skydancer are in the same pose I usually stood them together. Heart Throb was the romantic, but her hair would never cooperate. Her curls kept getting tangled and were difficult to brush out. I have Skydancer's backcard from '84, Medley's '85 version backcard, and Heart Throb's '85 backcard.

Peachy (and the Pony Parlor)
Peachy and Twinkles always went together. Peachy would wear one of her hats, while Twinkles rode in on her back in the basket. The parlor door broke at the hinges (a common problem it appears). I don't have her box, but I somehow managed to keep a story sheet about Peachy, Twinkles, and the Parlor. --- Update --- I've now "unearthedd" the instruction sheet for the Parlor too!

---- I also have three mystery outfits that I got at about the same time as the parlor. I stilll have the matching sticker for two of them. They are medium to large sized and show a MLP wearing the featured outfit with everything set against a cloud, which makes the stickers cloud-shaped. They are not Hasbro but the stickers look a lot like the MLP "style"! There is a nightgown, a dancer, and a bride. All show at least some wear because they were the only outfits I had.

Lickety-Split
Lickety-Split was another pony with "difficult" hair. I have her '85 backcard and always liked her "sweet" story.
Pinwheel
Pinwheel was among my favorites, which would explain why she seems to have lost a lot of her glitter. I liked her body coloring and hair. I have her '85 backcard.

Tickle
Tickle was the baby-sitter. She would often "help" Bluebelle too, thus she also spent time on my bookshelf. Her coloring also made her one of my favorites. I have her '85 backcard.
Baby Cotton Candy
Baby Cotton Candy was the other half of my "exchange" program. This way my friend and I each could have a Mother-Daughter set while we played. She had a lot of "mamas" because she was the only baby pony in my herd. I still have her box from '85, although it's been "flattened" through natural processes (aka. it's been unfolded).
Backstroke
Backstroke always tagged along with Wavedancer. She never left her float behind (because I couldn't get her to stand up without it). I have her '85 backcard. For a while she was an only "child" until Sea Star was officially "adopted".
Sea Star
Sea Star was the other pony I "acquired" from my brother. Presumably he got her at the same time I got Backstroke, which probably means I got her on a birthday. Wavedancer also looked after her. She was also kept with her float. Amazingly her '85 backcard didn't get lost in the shuffle of ownership and is now safely in my collection.
Megan and Sundance
I'm not sure, but I think I got them for Christmas. I don't remember playing with Megan much, she just didn't seem to belong with a herd of ponies. (She messed up the hierarchy.) I have most of their accessories, but Megan lent her shoe to one of my miniature dolls and never got it back . I remember seeing it somewhere, but it hasn't turned up yet. Since their box is bigger and a little odd-shaped, it's more a little beat up. --- Update --- I found Megan's shhoe! :)
I'm not sure when I got this, but I remember playing with it a lot. I think it was mostly Go-Fish. The box has come unglued, but it is still in good condition. I have both instruction cards and all 36 playing cards. They're a little worn, but okay. Click on the link to see the cards and game rules.

Speedy
I got Speedy from my aunt. We were on a shopping trip to Shopko and she let me pick out a pony! Although I love her dearly sometimes I wish I would have gotten Mimic, but that orange color just drew me like a magnet!! I have her ' backcard.
Up Up & Away, Merriweather, Sherbet,& Crunch Berry
I know I got all of them at Kmart, but I'm not sure of the exact order. I think I got Sherbet and Crunch Berry together. I always liked Sherbet & Crunch Berry's smells. I was attracted to the TAF ponies because they were so colorful. Up, Up, and Away was always the shy one. Merriweather was my mobile rainbow. I have all of their backcards.
Windy (Magic Message)
I remember getting her and have her backcard, but I can't remember if she was from Shopko or Kmart. Although she had "problem" hair, I really liked her symbol. It changed!!! The one thing I did wish was that she had a different name. I gave a different accent to her name when I played with her together with the first Windy.
Twisty Tail & Curly Locks
I received both of these ponies from my grandparents. I always loved their long hair and braided it a lot. There is one mystery associated with them though. I have both of their '87 boxes (even some of their accessories' packaging). On their boxes are a UK distribution note, the ponies on the boxes are pictured with their UK accessories, and they both came with their UK accessories (smaller hair clips with different designs). How they got here is mysterious because I live in the middle of the USA and my grandparents didn't travel.
Glow
Glow was the last "new" pony I received. I got her for my birthday from my friend. Since I had already put my other ponies away, she and her '87 box were put away separately. I didn't unearth her again until 5/13/98, much to my wonderful surprise!!! :)
The following ponies are ones I picked up at various garage sales and thrift stores during my first pony "epoch". I could really kick myself for some of the ones I passed up. (Not to mention all the MIP ponies that were all on clearance in regular stores and at a very low price in the "overflow" lot store.)
