The Devil and Sonny Liston
Nick Tosches

This is an excellent read about one of the most unique characters in boxing history.  Sonny Liston is one of the most sinister people to ever come along in prize fighting.  Tosches does a brilliant job portraying the true Liston.  Tosches is a great storty teller and he gives the reader an inkling into the history of Liston, while reading you learn about every thing, from Liston's ties to the mob, his escapades with women, his intimadating fighting style and crushing demise at the hands of Muhammad Ali.  This book is a definite must read for all boxing fans, especially if you have an appreciation for the historical significance of Sonny Liston and what he represented.  Tosches is a brilliant author and this is a fantastic book.

Bad Intention: The Mike Tyson Story
Peter Heller

Mike Tyson is perhaps the most famous or infamous athlete in the world.  This book is a definite must read for all fans of "Iron" Mike Tyson.  Heller does his research in this book and backs the claims in this book up with evidence, interviews and first hand accounts.  This story is a biographical tale of Mike Tyson, his beginning, his rise and his fall from grace.  The book does not go into Tyson's life after his rape conviction with any depth, but it still is an excellent account of Tyson's life prior to his conviction.  The most engaging chapter to me are the ones that discuss Tyson's early years and his relationships with Teddy Atlas, Cus D'mato and Jim Jacobs.  This is overall a very inriguing read, and is definitely a keeper.
