**If you are thinking about getting a Doberman or any dog for the first time, please check out these links first to see if a Doberman is right for you and your environment. I cannot over-emphasize the importance of thoroughly researching the breed and especially the breeder! Sadly there are numerous unscrupulous individuals posing as good breeders or trying to sell you a "rare" dog, be it a Doberman or other breed. Please be aware that the internet makes it much easier for these unethical types to fool a prospective buyer. PLEASE BEWARE! You and your family could regret not choosing the right dog and breeder!

Research: The first step

How to Find a Quality Puppy and Reputable Breeder After selecting a breed, find out the best place to look for a good dog from a reputable breeder

Finding a Responsible Breeder

Choosing a Dog Consider your needs, lifestyle and reasons for getting a dog, then fill out the Select-a-Dog questionnaire for suggestions.

Choosing the Perfect Dog Guide to finding an ideal canine companion covers lifestyles, family life and breed types, including mutts. Learn about training and health.

This is a good place to begin. If you are looking for a Doberman for specific competition or duties; Schutzhund, Ringsport, Police, SAR, etc. you will need to do more research of what temperament and drives are required to perform in that work, sport or competition. You will also need to research breeders to find which ones breed for those traits and have proven it with their dogs. However, a good Doberman breeder generally has dogs that can successfully perform in a variety of venues ~ as a well bred Doberman should be able to do. The breeders below are a good place to begin that search, taking great care to select and breed for working qualities, sound temperaments and health. More will be added as I look into them.

*Please Note: As I wish to provide a selection of breeders that are striving to improve the Dobermann as a *true working breed*, I have set forth some criteria. If you would like to be listed here, under our Doberman Breeders category, you must breed for the Total Doberman, be able to verify that you have trained & titled some of your dogs and are producing dogs that are obtaining titles in a working venue or sport, such as: Schutzhund, Ringsport, Mondioring, KNVP, Certified Police K9 in some capacity, SAR, etc. You must also conduct health testing.
Sorry, breeders who breed and title only in Obedience, Conformation or tracking titles do not qualify, as I feel these titles do not fully demonstrate the working abilities of a Doberman.

I DO NOT advocate or in any way support or recommend White Dobermans! For more info on this matter go to: DPCA Operation White Out and Facts about White Dobermans

Rebholzer Dobermans.

Heiko vom Deufringer Schlo - A site for an excellent German Shepherd Imported Stud dog.

Merri Whiskers Rattery - My latest adventure is raising fancy pet rats. During the time my life was not conducive to having a dog and after my interest in raising and showing bettas fizzled out, I ended up getting into pet rats after purchasing one for my daughter and seeing how wonderful they are as pets. My rattery website is still in the development process, but it gives you some info on my rats and my goals for the rattery.

If you visit the "Other pets" page you'll see that I am finally able to have dogs again, but because of my physical limitations now, I pretty much had to go with a lighter/smaller dog. The Belgium Malinois are definitely different from Dobes! I still like them just the same, as they have their own unique qualities. Like a good Dobe, the Mals love to work!
