The 38 Bach Flower Remedies (Essences) were discovered
by Dr. Edward Bach in the 1930's. They are a complete
system of healing that works with the individual's personality,
mood, and emotional outlook. They are a very safe gentle,
and effective means of restoring the individual's emotional
energy to balance.
Dr. Bach believed that health and happiness occurs when
our mental and emotional states are in harmony with our
soul, or true essence/self. When there is a lack of harmony
dis-ease results. Discord in one's vocation, relationships,
lifestyle, etc, will produce dis-ease. Accordingly, Dr.
Bach identified seven groups of negative emotional states
which result in disharmony. These states are normal human
emotions that each one of us will probably experience
to some degree during our life time. Some essences are
considered "mood" essences while others are
"type" essences. Yet others fall in the middle.
The Bach Essences are not limited to human use. They can
be used very successfully on animals, plants, in our
home and office environment. For example: help a grieving
pet when a family member moves or passes away; or when
an animal is placed in a new home; help prevent shock
after an accident; reduce the trauma some pets feel
when traveling, especially when flying; and has many uses
during training and showing.
Here are several examples of when an Essence would be helpful.
Beech: is for intolerance of others or situations.
Examples: the pet that will not tolerate another animal
around usually displaying aggression, or perhaps a pet
that doesn't show fear, but yet continually refuses to
get in the car.
Cherry Plum: is for pets that appear to have lost
control, having fits of rage, explosive or obsessive behaviors.
Examples: a dog that 'explodes' with aggression (for any
reason), or a cat that cleans itself so much that it causes
injury to it's self.
Gentian: is used when there has been some type of
setback in a pet that is normally happy, content and confident.
Example: it is progressing well in training or competition,
but when the exercise becomes difficult or the animal
makes a mistake, it loses confidence and may lose motivation,
even becoming depressed.
I have used all of the remedies at one time or another
on myself, my family, pets, home, office and clients,
both human and animal.
