Formative evaluation
My evaluation was on the website http://www.geocities.com/rinata2/home.html . The first part of the evaluation was to write the questions. My questions were written to be easily understood, but not overwhelming. There were 15 questions in all. The questions involved page layout, content accuracy, navigation links, technical aspects, overall evaluation, organization and sequence. I didn't test for high or low ability.
In this section, I will go over the results of the page layout, content accuracy, organization and sequence. Page layout had good consistency in the navigation and layout. Under the “Minutes” the government button was a different font. There were ideas of centering the title and picture on the “Home” page. Organization and sequence was also main part in the website. The pages presented were well received as being easy to read. The website had good organization that seemed to have a very user-friendly logical flow. It was also easy to find information with a clean and simple design. The validation on the homepage seemed out of place and needed to be closer to words represent for a more finished look. Content accuracy was kind of hard to gauge from most of my participants since they don't belong to the organization. Comments about the spelling, grammar, and writing style were made as well as if the information was appropriate were asked. There was a typo under “Content” third paragraph but overall it looked good. The information seemed to have good content that was clean and to the point.
The next section will look at navigation links, technical aspects, and an overall evaluation. The navigation links worked properly so you didn't get lost in hyperspace. The technical aspects were reasonably loading graphics and efficient HTML that were okay. The overall evaluation of this website gave me the most feedback. The overall impression was an easy website to read and use. The website looked very clean, credible and professional. The weaknesses found in the pages were too much spacing and aligning to the left; and the need for more graphics to liven up the page. The need for a map and street address on the “Directions” page was also noted as a weakness. The strengths were a good diagram and links to newspapers. The boring aspect was it needed more color, suggested would be the background, and the fact that the material didn't related to the user. The interesting aspect would be the subject and mission of my website.
In conclusion, I learn that website need to continually grow, but will always need feedback. The feedback I received was useful, and I will try to implement them although I will not be using all of the suggestion, such as the color background, will be using most suggestions.
