The WIAI has recently acquired a new building of approximately 14,000 SF in floor area. The building is in poor state of repair and will require lots of work before it will be completely developed. It is anticipated that this process will take several years and many thousands of dollars but that through community action, volunteerism and sacrifice the dream will be realized.

The completed facility will contain the following:
- Offices of The West Indian Association of Indiana
Meeting Room, restrooms, recreation room, other necessary spaces - Daycare or other community support facility
- Two Bedroom manager/guest apartment (subsidized/Free rental rate).
- Four (4) two bedroom low-middle income apartments

- Encapsulate environmental liabilities
- Obtain and Secure Utilities to building
- Draft and approve development plans for building
- Develop volunteer liability release Form
Initial Development Activities
:
Remove all Trash within building
- Remove all wall and ceiling surfaces
- Obtain state plan release for building remodel
- Obtain building permit
- Redevelop Association offices and One residential unit for Manager
- Obtain and maintain monitored security
- Obtain insurance
Long Term Development Activities
:
- Long term predevelopment plan
- Obtaining financial support
- Complete lower level redevelopment
- Complete upper level redevelopment
