Norman
Mailer, in his book The Spooky Art, wrote "Mega-bestseller
readers want to be able to read and read and read - they
do not want to ponder any truly unexpected revelations.
Reality might lie out there, but that is not why they are
reading."
It
all comes down to readability. Is the piece clear? Does
the piece tell you what is happening or, is the writer "telling"
you what is happening. The difference is everything.
Writing
is spooky in the sense that it is numinous and uncanny.
The writer taps into a deep well to develop characters,
ideas, symbols - all in an attempt at making contact with
the reader at a visceral level.
A
good book, a good story and a good article all share the
same elements. They grab and hold the attention of the reader.
My intention with every article, every story and every word
is to accomplish just that very thing. Thank you for visiting.
