A picture's worth more than a thousand words...

 

Remember the 19th century house in which the Arts Museum? Well, this building was built "on top" of it. It's a recent trend in our architecture where in desire to keep historic buildings and property from being demolished, the foundations are strenghtened and rebuilt in many cases so new buildings can be constructed on top of them without affecting the original property so valuable in our city's history.

It is a sad aspect that this wasn't tried many years earlier as we've lost countless pieces of great architectural works of art dating from fifties to the 1900's. In coming days I'll focus on Oroño Boulevard where many of these masterpieces can be found and are being restored.
