A picture's worth more than a thousand words...
You may ask... Hey Jorge, what's up with the red house?... Well that's where I was born. The property has changed and has been rebuilt as it dates back to the 1900's. Sadly we sold the house in '92 due to one of the many economic crisis that has plagued Argentina. The aspect you see here was given by the new owners.
Ironically, by the time we've sold it, my father had spent years restoring it until we finished it in '89. This was right on the same year that President Alfonsin's government came crashing down. Three years later my father would lose his job of 30 years and due to his age would find himself unable to work again therefore we found ourselves having to sell the house and everything we owned only to emigrate the the U.S. in hope of a new hope. Back then as it is today, Our society sees people above 55 years old as "too old" making anyone much older than that unable to get a job. Neither of my parent's life nor mine ever stabilized after that dreadful cold day in June '92 as we never found a place to call home from that day onward. My father was 58 when he lost his job.
I returned to Rosario almost three years ago and this is the second time I walk by here. I guess you can see why now.
