Hello friends! If you are at this page, I assume that you know me, so we can skip that whole introduction part. Believe it or not, I finally got my act together and graduated from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, in May 2003. And what do I have to show for those five years in college you ask? I am pruod to have earned a B.A. in English Literature (would you like fries with that?)
Since graduating college I have held several interesting jobs. I lived for two years at Grand Canyon National Park, working both as a paid seasonal Visitor Use Assistant (ie. fee collector) at the campground and a volunteer in the Divison of Environmental Education. I then gained the coveted and elusive government status by accepting a job as a permanent VUA at the entrance gate. That job was so horrible that I quit after three months and moved to Yosemite National Park in California. The job there was more fun. I gave tours and educated people about the American Black Bear. The most exciting part of my job was chasing the bears out of campgrounds and parking lots at night! And since this park has over 800 miles of hiking trails, my weekends were never dull. Who needs a stairmaster when the mountains are in your back yard?
Once that job ended, I moved back to New Mexico to be closer to Jack and my family. I lucked out big time by getting a job at the Sandia Mountain Natural History Center. Big name, little place. It is a nature center owned by the Albuquerque Public Schools and operated by the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science. We educate 5th grade students about ecology. It's perfect. I get to hike in the Sandia Mountains and play with kids. My official title is Outreach Coordinator. Besides teaching at the center, I schedule trips for us to go into schools throughout the state and teach those kids that can't come to us. The job is great, the pay is not.
Erica and Keith are pregnant again, and I'm pretty excited to find what' they are having.
